As people said before you can hide threads that you are not interested in and move on. /u/ being slow board enables it quite nicely.
Don't forget that by removing western stuff from here, you will also remove the good old /u/ meets /lit/ threads, video game threads that discuss both western and japanese games and maybe even Metall/u/rgy, an OC board project, technically of western origin.
