Yuzu wants to buy a pair of matching rings for Mei for their 1st anniversary as sisters. She takes up a part-time job in secret to earn money and meets Matsuri there by chance. Upon learning what Yuzu wants to buy, Matsuri says that Yuzu's feeling is too massive/heavy, and that she needs to take a proper look at the reality around her if she wants to stop playing around and step into the "boring world of adults". Yuzu bought the rings and on her way home, bumps into 2 of her old friends. Yuzu tells them that she's actually going out with someone and is about to proudly show off Mei's picture to them when background lesbians show up. The short hair friend says how she can't stand how those kind of peoples can be so lost in their own little world and flirt in public like that. Yuzu says she shouldn't say something like that because those two might love each other for real. The two friends laugh it off and ask if she's dating or girl or what. Rest is history.
Personally, I don't think her old friends said anything particularly bad. Yuzu needs to get her head out of her pink clouds.

That's why some shows prefer to stay at subtext.

But here's the thing. Just look at how people react to subtext yuri and how they react to yaoi subtext in general.
They tend to be more supportive of the yaoi ones, while in yuri there will be more people trying to pair the girls with some dude anyway.

So yeah, even if we complain about Citrus, at least it's pure yuri. And it would be good to have confirmed yuri once in a while rather than subtext or pandering to self inserts that only like the yuri because their waifus stay pure this way.
