Doctorxpatient isn't really an emphasis drawing point of the couple, it's more protector/soldierxmedic for that pairing.

Because Mercy isn't only synerging with Pharah, as much as some people like to argue that, but a good Mercy can work with pretty much all the characters. Pharah and Mercy's team up is pretty much a crutch gameplay wise until the Mercy player learns to be better.

You're missing the point oneesans, I was saying that Mercy pocketing Pharah was a -common- thing. It's also more visually obvious than a Mercy following around other classes on the ground, since Pharah is the only class that can achieve sustained flight over long periods of time, so compared to Mercy pocketing other classes, seeing her with Pharah in the sky is more memorable.

Same reason why TF2's Heavy & Medic are often depicted as a couple in fan art, because they're commonly seen working together in-game. It doesn't mean people think the Medic can only heal the Heavy and not any of the other classes, that's silly.

Pharmercy most likely got popular because Pharah with a pocket Mercy was a very common sight in-game. I don't understand why it needs to be more complicated than that. That's not an "argument", it's just an observation that anyone who's been playing consistently would've been able to tell you. I would have liked to just calmly discuss the "selling points" of Pharmercy before everyone got whipped up into a frenzy, but alas. Anyway -

Personally I like Pharmercy because I like that they're two professional adults with similar values yet different approaches (with Mercy as more of a "pacifist" and Pharah as more of a "peacemaker"), so they have common ground but also interesting differences to explore. I like their "figher/healer" dynamic in general. They're both generally mature, but the voice lines for both of them show a joking side too, which leads to some fun "dorky team moms" fanworks. I think it's cute that the two of them can go flying around together high up away from everyone else. I quite enjoy the way Pharah says "Let's keep the skies clear *together*." And I think they're aesthetically pleasing together.

Still, no one pairing is inherently "better" than any other, and if you don't really get a ship, then people shoving it down your throat isn't going to make it any better. Take it from someone who just can't manage to like NicoMaki - I know, I know. Considering how loose Overwatch's canon is at the moment, everyone's just playing with potential.
