I love and hate this book at the same time. It brought me HS memories, this book gave me anxiety and nostalgia. This is really painful to read.

Also, a rare book where the best friend is not a love interest, but is awesome in every way. I love Carly, and I think in the end she deserves better than Kris. I personally love the ending. It has a good end, but somewhat bittersweet. I've read the ending multiple times.

Great job. Thank you!
>>

Well.... that ending..... Her girlfriend kiss someone else, sleep with her call it a mistake. Got all jealous and possessive when someone try to get into Carly's pants when they are not together. Yet Carly, take Kris back and they got an happy ending.... WTF

I feel the same, loved and hated the book. Got pretty frustrated with it yet loved Ana and Carly by moment.

Nice job OP!

Anyhow, finally got round to reading the Scholars and Sorcery series and found it thoroughly enjoyable. A lot more Enid Blyton than I was expecting, in a good way. Somehow Esther is my favorite

Do we have any idea when the next book comes out?

Damn you, your image made me think it was finally out. Her blog hasn't mentioned it since she posted about the manuscript being in editing almost a year ago. Also I think the book is about Esther's romance with a mermaid.

At least this one had a good ending so it stands on its own. I hate when series use a cliffhanger and then no new book ever comes out or get announced for years
>>
Anyone know of the book im describing i read it a while ago and cant remember its name. its a romance that involves a overseer of sorts she would write reports on classes at a halfway home for woman if i remember correctly and one of the teachers there was a former prisoner not sure if thats the proper term she didnt like being around people very often besides her students. the woman who writes reports on the classes started to befriend her of sorts by first watchin the class then leaving a apple if i remember correctly. also the woman who teaches the class had a very bare apartment and had stuff delievered to her by a firend because she would get panic attacks in crowded places. sorry for the bad description im on a phone and not sure how to add spoilers tags properly on it and didnt want to put any for that reason.

Ya know, sometimes avoiding spoilers can be a bad choice.
I started reading My Best Friend, Maybe by Caela Carter. Going by the description and it being listed in the LGBT/Lesbian section I thought I'd like it. BFFs turning lovers is my favourite trope so I wanted as few spoilers as possible. Didn't look up any more details about the book.

Took me about 65% of the book to drop it. Does that make me retarded? From the start, the way Colette described her then-boyfriend sounded nothing like a repressed lesbian. Aight, I though, maybe she's bi. I can stomach the "gawd so cute ahh dem dimples hawt guy" thoughts she had for a while.

The book continues with no hints. No more-than-friendly glances, no curious thoughts, no... gayness from the main girl. Then she starts noticing the best friends fucking brother. But oh, I continue reading, because the friend is obviously gay and I expect some weird turn of events that only happen in fiction.

Then the secret is out. Her friend is gay! Wait, you're still ogling boys? Okay. Okay, I'll accept this isn't going where I expected it. Shit.

So yeah. Huge waste of time. The other parts of the book weren't even that good either. It's kind of funny how difficult of a read it was for me, the straight parts. I've read many books with straight couples before. But maybe it was the combination of what I was expecting and it being in first person which did it.
>>
I used to have a rule that i would read a book all the way through even if i wasn't enjoying it and life is so much better now i dont force myself to put up with shitty books. Theres plenty of other books to try dont waste time reading crap

Even the one op posted don't show all the new /u/ books

For Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit and As I Descended I had to search by the author name because none od the search for /u/ books were showing them .
>>
>>2137559
The post on mobilism has to actually contain one of the keywords you're searching, for it to show up. In As I Descended, FF, Lesbian & Romance don't appear in the post so it won't show up when you search for it.
>>
>>2137559
OP here. Georgia Peaches does show in the search query I posted, currently at the bottom of the first page.
As I Descended doesn't show up because the poster has only tagged it as YA, and there's no mention of LGBT or lesbian in the description. Sloppy!

When searching on mobilism, make sure you're doing an advanced search and select "Search within: First post of topics only". And if you're using multiple keywords, also select "Search for any terms" at the top.
>>
>>2137520
That sounds horrible, anon, but I hope you learned a valuable lesson. A quick ctrl+f through the book using het words can almost always tell you everything you need to know about a book without spoiling the story.
>>2137544
And this is a good rule. I used to think reading a book all the way through was the only way to live, but that was when I was pre-selecting books from renowned authors. That luxury is long gone in this niche.
>>
>>2137647
>That sounds horrible, anon, but I hope you learned a valuable lesson
I sure did. Honestly, if it's a standard romance there's usually not much you can get spoiled about.
The good stuff is in the dialogue and interactions, and those are hard to spoil.
I'll be a bit more careful in the future. Think I'll even stay away from the bi stuff for a while too heh. Just... ew.
Poor bi people. I'll never understand them.
>>
>>2137638

Ok, thank you for the explanations. Though As I Descended is a /u/ book, main characters are a lesbian couple.

>>2137647

Agree, I generally use something like kiss and look if it's het or /u/.

Though Looking both way /u/ but was the worst read of 2016 for me. So deceiving and all. Basically lured LGBT readers with false promises and stereotypes.
>>
>>2137765
>Ok, thank you for the explanations. Though As I Descended is a /u/ book, main characters are a lesbian couple.
Yeah. It's clear if you read the description.
It's just too bad it won't show up in the search if it has none of the keywords.
It's up to the poster to tag it correctly, really. We need some DeepMind AI in here to dig up all the /u/.

Haha, anyone read this one? Sounds odd.

>When Kathleen Schmitt is promoted to project lead at Mashida INTL for the Personal Love Companion (PLC), a life-sized, hyper-realistic dating doll, she must relocate to Tokyo.
>She’s surprised when her boss asks her to beta test the new dolls—an assignment that requires having her brain scanned so the company can fashion a personalized doll based on her innermost desires. But most surprising of all: her test PLC turns out to be a woman—one who looks and acts remarkably like her neighbor and coworker, Yuriko Vellucci.
>>
>>2140171
Just like my Chinese cartoons.
>>
>>2140171
Let me guess, the twist is that it wasn't a robot but her neighbor all along, or her coworker/neighbor was a robot all along.
>>
>>2140171
Eh, it was alright. It's a nice fish out of water story that probably could've done without the whole setup to make it feel more realistic. But the robot antics are cute enough and it has some good, funny moments. If you're getting triggered by a bi main character in denial, beware. Nothing het however. But expect the usual third act angst and drama when her denial isn't being milked for comedy anymore which makes the romance feel pretty formulaic.

So what is everyone reading and what do they think of it so far?

I'm in the middle of Engravings of Wraith and I've found the pacing odd, dialogue cheesy, and corny circumstances (she wields a goddamn katana). But it's not bad. It has it's moments, but it's never bad.
>>
>>2140754
Just finished Conflict of Interest. I think Jae's contemporary stories are not for me.
And started Green Eyed Monster.
I'm saving few of the last Robin Alexander's books for a rainy day as a pick-me-up.
>>
>>2140833

Finished it not that long ago, my first book by Jae. It was an ok read but nothing great. The storyline is good and could have been far better, the character were not enough exploited and it was very stereotype like: a butch and a femme, femme get aggressed, she is weak and need help, butch is always her to save her.

I was expecting way way more because these type of story line can give some amazing stories.

Currently reading Clean Slate by Andrea BramHall, well more like re-reading it to write a review about it.
The book is very good, I liked the YA vibes from Morgan when it's not a YA books at all. My only problem is the kids age, while the son act like a 13yo until the arc, the 10yo act like a 5yo. I to check like 5 times to be sure she was 10.

Still would recommend the book, it was funny, sad, angsty, somehow mysterious a little too.

I'm about 80% of Lands End too, this one is not bad too. More family drama oriented I guess. But I really like Amy.

Will start Training Ground and Fard From Home surely tonight or tomorrow.

I have like 100 books to read thanks to mobilism. I'm in happyland.

Though, from all my recent reads, I came to realize 90% maybe more of the books are very stereotypical and are about butch/femme couple.
I personally like femme/femme books but there hardly any news release about this sort of couple. As for butch/butch I don't think I ever read one, does it even exist?

Clichéd Love A Satirical Romance by Lynn Galli, which is basically two cynics brought together by their love of snarking about cheesy, sappy and formulaic love stories while inevitable embarking on their own. Finished it, and it was a refreshing take on a relationship. Though I hoped it wouldn't get to the misunderstanding/slight drama that it typically does in books because it said it's satirical, and sure, the cool and collected getting flustered and making presumptions which lead to angst is ironic, but I really hoped it circumvented that. I guess the one thing positive about that, is that it wasn't portrayed typically and was resolved relatively fast. But still, that was my only gripe with it. And the bit about Lane's past, but that's whatever.

All in all though, a very nice read. Thanks for mentioning it.

I think I am looking for half of these books too and the one I wasn't looking for are books I didn't know exist.

Thanks for posting this request.

@_@ Thank you very much for the links!

I've reached a dead end with these, been lurking for a long time already and thought to finally ask around here for help.

Yes, just expanding my personal library (kind of like a reading list since I've been spending half the year reading almost all of the ones I got and ended back here again)

Again, very much appreciated for the help!
>>
>>2141850
Tried PM-ing the original posters (mobilism) for the ones with already or long dead links but no results.

Not familiar with request/reward system they have over there since I'm still fairy new but I got plenty of what I read so far over there.

To the anon who suggested that site (from the previous threads) . . . I owe you many thanks as well (wherever you are now)

The titles I've listed have been taken from picked off one by one from a series of other inter-related recommended lists. I just listed the ones I wanted really badly and couldn't obtain.

I don't think I can go through downloading gigabytes of a collection. I don't do well with grabbing a bulk load of books and end up just reading say 1/4 of the entire bulk so this time I'm just being picky.

Mostly I'm just a sucker for YA whether in a realistic or fantasy setting

Are Lynn Galli's books all basically the same? I read the first and the last published and it had kind of the same characters, same hang-ups about getting together, same situation where they're just about to have sex but one or both of them put on the breaks and decide they're better off as friends and then a few weeks to a month or two later they get together? Not to mention the obsession with kissing (seems like she's a little unsatisfied with that). There are a few other similarities as well that I'm missing but generally those things.
>>
>>2142144

I read Blissed Twice and Forevermore byt her and apart from the fact it was the same characters, it was nothing alike.

Only a few kiss in the first book and not that much too in the second. No break up in any of the book (on contrary, do everything to accommodate each other).

Start of as friend but end up in love, they do have sex one time in each book the very first time, they stopped but finished like 2/3hlater. Mainly because one of the MC was sexually abused for years and have a hard time being touched/having sex

Still oping from a third book with M/Briony and more of Willa/M as besties.

Just finished Uncommon Emotions by Lynn Galli, and can someone who has read all her books tell me if there's the obligatory break-up/making distance in all her books?

I was very hopeful about how Uncommon Emotions went and then the break-up happened, because there needs to be drama and it almost ruined the book for me, cause it showed me exactly how much love the love interest had for the MC. Hint: not that much, despite all she said.

Now it probably sounds worse than it actually is, but I'm pretty pissed about it, so take it with a grain of salt.

So again, if anyone has read all of her books if they can tell me there's the obligatory stupidity like that in every book.
>>
>>2143020
It's not in all but quite a few, can't give a ratio; Uncommon Emotion was the only misunderstanding breakup I can remember because of how egregious it was.

My reply to your previous post about Lynn Gally >>2142162
>>
>>2143020
>it showed me exactly how much love the love interest had for the MC
Love needs trust in the long run, but it's not synonymous with it. It's been very obvious that Raven was waiting for the other shoe to drop, so her overreaction at the first sign that things might be too good to be true after all was understandable to me. Not welcome, especially for how contrived the timing was to prolong this fit into relationship drama, but understandable. Love doesn't keep you from being an insecure moron in the heat of the moment.
>>
>>2143572
I understand waiting for the other shoe to drop, and overreacting, and I would've understood if it was over her feelings and scared that she was after all straight.

But the bullshit thing was that it had nothing to do with that, and more like she was looking for an excuse to drop her.

Finished Imagining Reality and this was one of the few times where I didn't want the two MCs to get together. For Jessie's sake. There was so much wrong with Lauren.

Brace yourselves. Four more SQ authors have been picked up. Three by Ylva Publishing, probably 'cause they're the only publisher who'll even touch 'em.

Shadow Haven by delirious comfort, Coffee at Midnight by violetscented, and Find Love (renamed 'Finding You' for publishing) by scarletgypsy were all picked up by Ylva. Letters From War by Hunnyfresh is the fourth, publisher unknown.

Soo, I messed up. Some time ago(months), this awesome anon posted the "old" version of Without a front by Fletcher delancey. The one before it got split up into Chronicles of alsea pt2 and 3. I had it, and I was so happy. In between then and now, reinstallation of all my devices has been made and somehow it got lost in a Downloads folder at some point. Just finished reading Taking the Lead by Michele L. Rivera ............ it was awful, I don't get the 13 reviewer who gave it a 4/5 on goodreads

Here the story:
MC get kissed by the school new girl and her best friend start to act weird. Then MC get a date with new girl but best friend call her for emergency.
And here basically 150 pages of the story:

Best friend is gay, MC get angry because BF didn't tell her so she decide to go to NG's place and sleep with her. Then basically blame NG for sleeping with her.
BF says she loves MC so MC start to don't care about NG but still sleep with her once and start being a creeper in love with her BF. Then bam BF and MC got together and have sex and out themselves in school in 2 days.

The author basically tell us what will happen within the 20 first pages. It was waeful how she tried to make NG seems like a bad person when she was just a girl in love who did nothing wrong. Maybe some pressure for touching, but because the MC was basically looking at her chest. At some point she even begged the MC to not have sex so they could talk

Next to this The book of Kris is an awesome read and book.

>suddenly confli-oh, never mind, it was nothing

The fanfic originals of Flight SQA016, Popcorn Love, The Return, Shadow Haven, Coffee at Midnight and Letters of War are within, as well as the published versions of The Return, Popcorn Love and Flight SQA016.

The main problem with the published version of Flight is the book ends on a cliffhanger, so the "sequel"/rest of the story is being published in the coming months as "Grounded." A.E said she's changed the ending of the published version vs. the fic, but as to how different it is, who knows.

Does anyone have any good angsty books to recommend? I'm looking for... I call it justified angst. So no simple miscommunication, no "if they only talked to each other!", no misunderstanding. Just a story where one of the main characters truly and knowingly fucks up and it's not forgiven right away. (There was one book where one cheated on her wife, in their own bed, and the one who got cheated on spent basically one day mad and then went "oh well. Forgive and forget, I understand"... No thanks.)

And it could be things other than cheating (I'm just assuming that it'll be the most common one)

I have nothing against fanfic recs if you want to slip one in, it's just that they usually fall into the areas I mentioned above.

Anyone have the other books in The Law Game series? It was started by Lee Winter and the other four books are by four different authors interestingly enough. I read the Andi Marquette one. Light and fun and very short, but you never get to know the other protag so a little disappointing. Definitely not as emotionally evoking as Lee Winter's, but they're very different stories. It's almost unfair to compare them.
>>
>>2147007
>Sounds like good silly fun

It's really offputting, though. At least to me. Kinda rape-y, kinda generally insane. Neat concept, but the execution...
>>
>>2147650
Rape-y? Hardly. There's nothing non-con going on and everything bordering on that is fueled by Kim's character and played for laughs.

The book is a bit polarizing and that's almost entirely down to how you read it, because it's not a romantic comedy, at least in the sense that the people or the world are supposed to be anywhere close to realistic. Because it's almost entirely based on cartoon logic. When I read it I visualized them entirely as anime, SD sequences and all, because that's what they are supposed to be. And I laughed my ass off.

Basically, if you enjoy the humor of shows like Mitsudomoe or Yuru Yuri and you don't need the pictures for that, then this is your yam. If you're looking for a genuine romance with some humor like every other book here, this ain't it. I mean, there is a romance but it takes such a backseat you won't get much out of it in terms of feels.
>>
Where do I start?
>>
>>2147870
Like, in general?

The Blind Side of Love by Ingrid Díaz. A favourite of mine.
Pretty long, pretty great. Has the right balance of humor and the more serious elements. The premise is rather fun too; famous actress and painter get to know each other via writing, then phone calls. Actress keeps her real self hidden for a time.
A slow build-up that manages to feel well paced. You really get to feel the characters are real people.
Oh and it's femme/femme. That's a plus in my book.

Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen. Yeah I know, but I have to recommend it. My absolute favourite f/f.
Young adult angsty drama with a pinch of religion and set in a conservative Louisiana community to make the drama a tad spicier.
Falling in love with your best friend can be oh so bittersweet. And that fucking beach scene. Goodness.

If you're looking for lesbooks infused with some humor you should browse Robin Alexander's works and pick whatever catches your eye. Great author.

I'm also a fan of Siera Maley. Not everyones' cup of tea, but check out her books and see if they look interesting.

I dunno... I usually go for fantasy but I'm not too picky.
I would prefer if there was something more going on aside from the romance (one of the reasons I was looking more at fantasy). Doesn't have to be a grand high fantasy work or a space epic but I tend to value romance more if in a larger context (not saying romance can't be the main focus, at all).
Femme/femme is a nice plus for me too yeah.
What I probably value the most is for the book to actually be good though.

Crofton's Say Yes to the Cheerleader is also good. Or go with MJ Duncan's books, they're cozy too.

>>2147917
A bit heavy on angst and melodrama though, not very fluffy at all. Good book, certainly one of the best YA ones with the bar there being as low as it is, but maybe a bit too heavy to start with is what I'm saying.

>>2147953
I have to say, I don't really like Robin Alexander's most recent books. So many plots feel like a rehash of her better works (especially Summer of Our Discontent) and I'm jaded about her tropes on top of that. Might just be me though.

I would never recommend this book as a starter. That is why I say that. Honestly since I read it, I can't never read a ya f/f and like it.

I'm no more in the age category for they ya (which I believe is below 20) though it's funny considering in life young adult are people between 20 to 39 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_adult_(psychology)). Yet I read a lot of F/M or F/F YA. Some are amazingly written and such pearl.

I wonder why though in the /u/ world it's a YA book every year or so that is worth the read. I know we have way less authors than het books but shouldn't we have more quality works since the niche is smaller.....
>>
>>2148013
That's it I'm sold, gonna read it. You anons haven't shut up about it being great.
I'm not much into the whole "I'm not gonna read/watch/play the best one as it's so good it'll ruin the rest for me". Unless we're talking about stuff that gets better after understanding and experiencing the genre/media more.
So, hit me with the best! (I'm gonna read this one though)

>>2148017
You might want to lower your expectations, it's good and does some things really well but it's sometimes too flowery and has a pretty clunky end.

Second draft of the Ingrid Diaz has too much het, and loses some of the spark, not an improvement imo. It's been so long since it was originally written that I wouldn't expect it ever to be published in a final form now.

So should I be reading Her Name In The Sky or The Blind Side of Love? Confused as hell.
>>
>>2148408
Read them both. I have some problems with TBSOL but it's really solid and long and has a happy ending. HNITS is very engrossing and full of angst and also has a happy ending.
>>
>>2148408
Also, Annie on my Mind is pretty basic but a good read. Sarah Waters books can make you rage but they are really well written and gripping stories, I'd recommend Tipping the Velvet, Fingersmith (now a Korean major motion picture!) and the Paying Guests.
>>
>>2148403
I don't think the issue is about whether het happened (it's YA, gayngst-y ya on top of that, so that's kind of a duh) but whether it gets graphic in that aspect. And all Her Name in the Sky does is allude to things that happened offscreen, as far as I remember.
>>
What's with the "! Yes" tag on the calibre library?
>>
>>2148446
So is the het graphic in The Blind Side of Love (if there is het in it)?
>>
>>2148458

There's no het in The Blind Side of Love, only in Her Name in the Sky. The het in Her Name isn't graphic, but part of the angst. It was only implied she had sex with her bf, as I remember.
>>
If you wanna read something slow burn and actually see how two girls begin to fall in love (None of that instant attraction, Love at first sight), then I would recommend:

Emily O’Beirne - A Story of Now
>>
>>2148478
Your description does sound like something I would like to read. Thanks.
>>
>>2148453
I've been wondering too.
>>
>>2148408

Don't read HNITS, not now. You will be like me begging the author for a second book and unable to ever found any ya book as good as this one.
I strongly don't recommend it for a first read.

>>2148464

Here what is in the book, the het part. Both girls do kiss boys, because they both want to be normal, like they are taught by their parents and their catholic school. Both family are involved with the religion.
Baker have sex with her boyfriend off screen, Hannah saw her crying and being depressed when it happen. Later the boyfriend, confirm he did have sex with her and she cried and refused to be touched by him

Honestly the het part is not really bothering.
>>
>>2148453
>>2148493
I've been adding and updating the library for a while now, and my guess would be that the original uploader tagged books they had confirmed were F/F with that.
There are a few books in there that are regular het romances. Mainly from authors who do both genres.
Guessing they were going to sort through everything, but chose to upload the torrent before they go through it all.
>>
>>2148415
Personally the ending to HNitS based solely on the book seemed a bit melancholy to me.

However, the author has extra fluff pieces on her website that you should definitely read afterwards that make everything okay.
>>
>>2148495
It would bother me tbqh, but I'm looking for different things.
>>
>>2148507
Any idea what the numbers beside each book mean? I've thought that maybe it was a ranking system, but it seems very inconsistent if it is.
>>
>>2148364
It's on par with Nicola Griffin's writing. Author is Sophia Kell Hagin (or Hagin Kell).

I did mean Ingrid Diaz's second draft about the other comment.
>>
>>2148633

I guess it could be bothersome for people who like book without any men presence.
I was bothered by the book over something else not the het though, I'm the type of reader who go for plot and depth and if possible realistic. People seems to forget it but not all teens or women realize they are lesbian and assume it. If it was true, not so many lesbian would be in the closet.
But it's just me liking good books ans stories.

Maybe you should go for Style by Chelsea M. Cameron . No het, no drama, everything is very 2D like though.
>>
>>2148645
Oh, I wasn't the anon who asked, it was just a comment.
>Style
Read that one, but guess it wasn't remarkable enough for me to remember what it was about.
>>
>>2148638
The one's in parentheses? Those are from Calibre's sorting system.
The order has no meaning, they're just there to make sure there are no conflicts between books with identical titles.
>>
>>2148638
5 is retail quality. 4 is as good as retail. 3-1 is converted books or some other bad formatting.
>>
>>2148645
Honestly, if someone's bothered by a male presence as romantic option or past then they shouldn't read young adult lesfic. 'Compare and contrast' so to speak is part of the point and something most lesbians go through at some point. People aren't magnets, attraction is a very subjective thing and most of us don't just know, especially when society and peer pressure tried to condition you otherwise for all your life before.
>>
>>2148713
Or instead of thinking all YA lesfic is from one universal perspective that is not relatable or enjoyable to every reader, they could instead take the reasonable approach of picking a book after researching its contents, which is why people ask questions before reading and how this conversation started. There are far too many books to read in one lifetime anyway.

I'm in the camp that wants more books like Our Demented Playdate, That Witch!, Finding Ashlynn, Pegasi and Prefects, etc. Fluffy YA is best.
>>
>>2148769
Too many books, yeah, but not too many /u/ books. At some point the search process becomes so ineffectual that it's actually easier to just read everything hoping that it suits instead of triple-checking whether it's what one expects to like...
...and, heck, sometimes you even get surprised.

Just read Gemstone, by Vitsky, who writes those spanking erotica, and the ones I've come across before were (at best) "dubiously consensual", which I absolutely hate. Then this one features practicing Christians, which I hate about as much, and a sort-of love-triangle, and the "issue" to overcome are misunderstandings/lies, all of which, again, I hate.
But the novel wasn't too bad. Nicely done, actually. Not great, but a bit different, which made it entertaining enough.

Also, I learned about figging, and that something similar was used as a punishment in ancient Athens for certain men, so it was highly educational, too.
>>
>>2148658

Talking about style, I just realized how 2016 is a horrible year for the the ya lesbian books. So many traumatic read. I think only one book was OK so far, I forget the name, the one where the girl date the twins, the book was kind of like no one need to know.
>>
>>2148391
Kris has a long term sexual relationship with her bf in v2 while she was saving herself for marriage in v1. Even Julianne (who infamously made her perennial beard / escort Adrian wear a disguise to an award show when she knew Kris and her roommate would be watching in v1) goes on a date with a man. As if adding extra het to the main characters wasn't enough the author adds a superfluous romance between Adrian and Julianne's (lesbian in v1) assistant.

The first version is unapologetically a quirky ff rom-com (a la Robin Alexander), the second tries to be ~deep~ but in the process completely changes the principal characters in not good ways.

It's obvious why v1 was unpublished, it's basically unfinished with a lot of things left up in the air at the end, but why do you think v2 was left on the shelf? But whatever read v2 if you like het in your ff.
>>

Got around to reading the third Dakota Shepherd book, but was disappointed. Not that the first two were great literature, but I thought that the protagonist was reasonably entertaining; in book 3 she was kinda bland, though. Maybe I'm just misremembering, dunno.

Also currently at the 3rd Regina Shen book. dunno if it ever gets seriously into the FF part, but it's a postapokalyptic series, where, after the ice capes melted, women decided that men had screwed up humanity for long enough and, err, killed them all. And then they created their own dystopian, oppressive society.
Not the greatest thing ever, but fun enough. And I love the dialogues, where, for some reason, people talk past each other all the time. Crazy stubborn and impatient protagonist, too, who usually just repeats that she has to save her sister _now_ until whoever she's pleading with has distracted her enough or gives up.

>>2149055
Sounds more dystopian than postapokalyptic.

I'm a bit late to the party but I always recommend Behind the Green Curtain by Riley Lashea.
One of the protagonists is a married woman but there's no het sex. The chemistry between the protagonists is through the roof and the romance is slow paced and belivable.

Hildrend Billings - Love, Yumi: The Romantic Life Of A Japanese Idol

http://www3.zippyshare.com/v/6bcb2EYY/file.html

I'll be honest with you. I'm sharing this because I don't want to be the only one who suffers.

This is a story about two best friend's journey to becoming J Idols. This is written in blog? style. It's Chiharu's writing a tell all story about her and Yumi's journey.

Trigger warnings: This has het, and other fucked up things like, abuse, suicide etc... Yumi got married to a man.

This is a big BIG spoiler, it is near the end of the book. If you're on the fence, this will probably help convince you to either read or not read the book.

It's Yumi's letter:

Just finished the last dance series..... First book was over dramatic but ok. But second book is not ok at all. I feel like I was reading a child book with sex scenes. "Hello, I'm April, it's my grandbaby." "Grandmommy, where are my godmomies and my godsister?"

Which adult speak between them using the words: grandbaby, grandmommy, godmommy, god sister and basically call 2 babies the same name?

I would I preferred it if the first and second book where more similar.

Anybody have MJ Williamz Summer Love? It's been out for a while but there's very little of her work on mobilism.
>>
>>2145159
Coffee at Midnight was actually pretty laidback and nice. There was only 2-3 chapters of twitter messaging. I liked it a lot.

Don't see how there was forced drama, unless you mean about their backstories, which I guess the author needed a reason for them to not jump directly into sex. Then again I haven't finished it yet, so, perhaps near the end is the drama. But so far, I like that one too.

Does /u/ remember a book that was recommended in the last thread? It was historical fiction, about a woman of noble birth with some title or other and it looked very much your run-of-the-mill romance, but a few onee-samas were saying it was actually more about the problems of keeping a relationship secret back then, and the Inquisition was involved somehow...

Funny thing about the Flight fic version is that Regina is only Regina by name. None of her personality is in there. Then again, I'm only half-way through, almost at the scene where they have a huge fight I presume so that the official book is split.
>>
>>2138752

Amazing Anon, I was wondering, if by any chance you continued to look at the fulfilled request of the rest of the September month?
>>
>>2155783

It is. The rest will be published as Grounded come Nov or Dec. Hopefully it's the rest of the book. Popcorn Love I struggled to finish because it was so close to the fanfic. Hughes didn't even change the dialogue, so all the 'dear's are in there and all. You've got Regina's dialogue throughout PL without the background fandom references to explain why she talks that way.

It feels like they rushed the publication of Flight. It could've been published as one novel and allowed Radley time to write a brand new sequel or original work. She said she's changing the ending, but Flight needs more rewrites/hefty applications of logic than just that.

It'll be interesting to see if Radley gets further than just turning fanfic into original fic, or if that's all she's capable of. The funny thing is, it feels like she's gone and done an EL James. She said on Tumblr that she won't write anymore Swanqueen fanfiction, presumably ever, burnt that fandom bridge, while banking on Swanqueen fans buying her book. That's how it seems to me, but I have a slightly more detached view of it all.
>>
>>2154598
It did drag on a bit and as >>2155216 said, the romance seemed a little forced. I think if they had more scenes with the two MCs working together, instead of random family scenes, it might have allowed the reader to see the relationship build a bit. Still, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever read.
>>
>>2156080
Thing is though, with it being made more realistic, it would've been chock full of drama. And with Regina/Olivia being made with a mental disorder that makes her 'awkward' that's enough. Sadly, in the fic version, when the author announced something 'exciting' happening to the fic, she started to condense the interactions, which prior to that were very well spaced out and detailed enough. While after the announcement, they started speeding up little by little and supposed 'big things' were given one or two paragraphs.

If it went the way it did originally, it would've been much longer and much better, but because she got caught up in publishing a fic, she rushed the ending of the fic and it wasn't as good as it could've been and the published version is stupid near the end.

Now she says that the second book would have additional scenes and that they could've been voted for, which is again, a little stupid. But oh well. It is what it is.
>>
>>2154736
>>2154958
Thank you so much. So far, easily one of the best things in years.
>>
>>2156271

That's true. Radley also states she has no interest in reading, which would solve a lot of issues if she were a reader.

Voting for scenes? Really? It may as well still be fanfic because it sounds like she can't make up her mind, or is still trying to cater to her fans.

As you said, it is what it is, and writing is just a ''hobby'' for her. I couldn't pick what was really throwing me 'til you put it into words. I'm curious as to how long she'll survive in the industry.
>>
Any severe drama in Infinite Loop by Meghan O'Brien? I'm a third-ish way through and they're waaay too happy and I don't trust something not to fuck it up because 'it's the way it has to be in stories'. According to a lot of authors anyway.

No. The road trip will turn into dealing with some of the family baggage ex-cop whose name I forgot has, but there's no relationship drama between the two. I quite liked it because it's a fluffy, sweet romance and I do genuinely enjoy road trip stories.

I started reading A Date With Angel, and I did find it funny, but it started grating on my nerves for some reason. I only want to know one (two) things: At some point, is it shown/revealed/she (Angel) says herself that she knew from the start that Kim knew Angel wasn't human (and is Angel really an alien)?
