From decades of yuri manga, best I can piece together is either doughnuts, either that or Mister Donut has a very strange product placement deal going on with yuri mangaka of note, or dollar menu hamburgers. So like, McDoubles or whatever the Japanese equivalent of a McDouble is.

I know that a manga with this topic will only cause the most thoughtful/intelligent of responses but the first volume seems harmless enough.

Basically, a male yuri otaku and a fujoshi have their bodies swapped. Once he gets adjusted to the fujo's body, the otaku starts to get into some ambiguous yuri situations with one of her friends that remind him of his favourite anime (an Aikatsu rip-off). If it's any conciliation to those who still disapprove, the guy himself also agrees with you that genderswap/bodyswap isn't technically yuri.

There's also a trap that appears in the last chapter, but they haven't done anything yet.

Here's an idea: become an LLfag and forget Aikatsu. Aikatsu isn't /u/-centric anymore and the majority of /u/ has abandoned, forgotten, and ignored it since S3. Even if there's still yuri in it, it's no use following it if the het gets bigger every season. I'm amazed that you're still an Aikatsufag to this day.

Now look at Love Live. It's the most /u/-friendly idol around and just today's episode showed that. We get LL threads at a faster rate than Aikatsu and iM@S threads combined. Finished reading Tetragrammaton Labyrinth recently and hoping to find something kind of similar. Not necessarily looking for stuff of the same genre or setting.

Different person who likes both LL and Aikatsu here. OG Aikatsu never "went het" and romance was never a focus at any point. The one guy only ever gets het goggles-level subtext with exactly one girl and doesn't end up in a canon pairing. It's probably not going to be much better even if you were translating anything else yuri. There are probably quite a few people who will read anything translated that's yuri because of how little yuri content there is even if it's a doujin of a series they never watched/read.

Most readers just don't like to comment and a lot of the times comments are just shipping wars or the like. Unless you pull a mangastream and poach the most popular and mainstream series, it's probably going to be pretty difficult to get a lot of discussion going.

For the most part, I don't think think yuri works tend to promote much discussion unless there's some kind of drama, shipping wars or people deeply relate to the characters. I think Itou Hachi's works are good examples of series that many people read but no one comments on them because for the most part, it doesn't promote much discussion. Aikatsu doujins is probably in a similar boat in that regard. There's no doubt that more people read Love Live doujins, but the fact that there's nine characters means that sometimes people feel obligated to comment just to show their support or disapproval of the pairing.

Anyways, those are just my personal thoughts on the issue. You'll probably get more comments if you translate a long original work that has lots of things that promote discussion.

As other Anons also pointed out, Aikatsu! is a very niche anime with only a few people watching, so it's not a big surprise only a few people would seek out its doujinshi. I knew this would happen, but I dunno about you, but I find invigorating to see people liking the stuff we translated. It makes us forget the hardships we went through of producing a scanlation and gives me a reason to continue.

Being melodramatic aside, yeah, I see your point in this. We may translate an original series in the future, but we're still committed to Aikatsu! and we're still aiming to become the number 1 source of Aikatsu yuri doujinshi. So yeah.

Looking forward to more Rola x Yume doujins. Koharu x Mahiru is nice too.

Not really, I wouldn't mind that manga at all if something actually yuri related happened in it.

That's exactly how I wanted this series to be, instead we get stuff like that sausagefest in vol 5 all focused on even more male characters, or the girl who's supposed to be at the center of the yuri love triangle suddenly showing interest in MC, in the sequel.
Kurata insisted that the series was going to end in yuri and he showed his notes on twitter where he had already all planned, but he should have known better when he made such basic mistakes in his storytelling, it's not like he's a yuri newbie either.

This is what I don't get. His other yuri is fucking perfect. How can someone write a masterpiece and then churn out well over 5 volumes of garbage? Usually a mangaka's writing gets better with time. Morinaga Milk improved a lot, Takemiya Jin has been writing more interesting stories with improved drawing, Shuninta stopped doing writing stuff that made no sense, etc.

They're the characters from the novel with their anime designs. The main drama in the second novel involves Mizore (Oboe) and Nozomi (girl with the black hair and the ponytail). The problem is that a comedy manga that pokes fun of and celebrates yuri clichés/audiences wouldn't fundamentally work if the protagonist is a obsessive female yuri fan.

If she truly loves yuri, then there should be no reason why she doesn't seek out a girlfriend of her own. If she does get a girlfriend, then the manga shifts from a comedy to romance. No matter how diverse your couple is, they can't parody beyond one or two standard yuri relationships at the same time. Adding more couples would just take away screen-time from the MC.

If the MC tried to tried to pick up girls using yuri manga as "Quick Tips For Girls Looking Up Pick Up Other Girls" she has to fail to prevent the above from happening. And there's only so many contrived coincidences as to why they can't be together before it starts to wear thin. And keep in mind that usually, the more realistic the excuses get ("I'm not a lesbian"), the less funny they get, if they don't start to add unintended social commentary themselves.

You could try to have the MC be dense or in denial about their feelings towards girls, but that joke would wear thin over the span of one volume, let alone several.

Honestly, writing a manga with this idea would be very difficult, so unless you have an idea I haven't thought of, it's probably not going to work.

If YH had really good yuri manga ongoing I belive that someone would scan it and even quickly fan translated to share the good stuff with other yuri fans who can't get it for various reasons, most is that it's not availible to buy digitally, but nothing like that happens at all, some of Kirara yuri stuff and few other yuri series ongoing in non-yuri magazines get that treatment for some 'unknown' reason.

I stopped enjoying YH when YD started and new editor came to give the girls 'justice', so from that time I stopped supporting it and never imported it from Japan, now I only do it for doujins where I know I support the artist directly.

You muppet, that is not the MC. The annoying guy is a character the show keeps mocking, and just one of the six characters. This episode alone had other characters call him delusional, clueless, and his own girlfriend treats him like an autistic child.

This anime has an ensemble cast. Hime has more of a leading role than he did.

I watched Battle Athletes a while back and was surprised that it was actually a bit gay. I only initially watched for the cute girls in tight outfits. Didn't expect what I got, especially with the trap character existing.

Anyway, I looked up info about Battle Athletes Victory, and as far as the text blurbs I read go, it seems to just be a full length re-tread of the same story as the OVA.
What I want to know is, is it as gay, more gay, or less gay than the OVA?
