E-Hentai actually has a decent tagging system, they could try to cook up something similar. With one giant pool of approved tags and the ability to vote tags down if they don't match the content; maybe with an additional category for "author's tags" that you can turn off completely in settings, if writers really want to add a very specific tag or two.

As for tags on AO3, I don't think anybody would listen to me asking them to rework their tags. It's kinda pointless, too; I need tags when I'm looking for something, I don't need them when I've already found what I want to read. I suppose it would make it easier for other people to find the same work, though.
But I do find those one hit only author tags annoying, since they mix with/replace actual useful tags. London Calling isn't actually that bad compared to stuff I'd seen before, with the entirety of "Additional Tags" field filled with nothing but kindergarten-tier babble. I just don't get why people do that. Maybe separating actual tags from made up ones will force those people to put some thought into it, I don't know. Maybe I'm being a whiny bitch about it.

Well mystery wise they still haven't said who her father is, even though Fareeha herself knows. As for her personality, we haven't seen enough to define her really. Her comic shows her as a stickler for rules until the end when she decides to be slightly less of a stickler and more of a protector instead. She's eager to fight in Overwatch and based on her in-game quotes she's pretty professional and down to business.

Regardless, I wouldn't say the only interesting thing about her was her mother's mysterious fate. She may be a bit of flat character right now but let's face it, everyone is as well. Problem is, due to the fact that OW is a strictly multiplayer game, they decided to set in after all the interesting stuff happened. Omnic Crisis? In the past. Creation of OW? In the past. Conflict between Reyes and Morrison? In the past. Incredibly important events in characters' lives that made them who they are now? In the past.
So it'd be hard to move on from doing "past" stuff, since there's a metric ton of it. It'd be neat to have a short single-player campaign for each character that shows off their backstory (sorta like scenarios in WoW, I guess), but the chance of it ever happening is minuscule.

Nah. You seem to be under some kind of impression that they are required to cover the backstory before they can move foward, meanwhile what they've been doing so far is introducing characters and showing their current status with some bits of their backstory.
Nothing's stopping them from starting to move the story forward in, say, 6 months when they are finished with introductory shorts/comics.

Personally I couldn't care too much about the old soldiers and I'm most interested in the story going forward, and the new generation of Overwatch taking the lead so I'm happy the devs seem eager to expand on the story too.

Not sure where you're getting that. First of all, this discussion wasn't about what I want to see, but about the comparison of past and present stuff.
Second, when I say "past", I mean the past of all 22 characters and people surrounding them, not just the six founders. How they came to be what they are now, what happened during the Omnic Crisis, how the general public reacted to OW, how it was disbanded, how certain characters developed over the years, etc. All of that seems significantly more interesting to me than rehashing the old "team good versus team bad" story. First Strike is only going to cover a fraction of it. The founding of OW, probably a brief mention of the Crisis. Doubt they will expand on the conflict between Gabriel and Jack, annotation makes it sound like it will only focus on the early days.

I'm back with another chapter of The Angel and the Pilot. And once more I'd like /u/ to collectively proofread it. Typos, grammar, odd choice of words; that kind of thing. You should be able to comment on the document, or reply to this post. Also please pay special attention if there's any improvements to be made to the argument between the two, as that was pretty tricky to write and I'm not perfectly sure how well it came out. Not sure how you think it can only briefly mention the Crisis yet focus on the early days. OW was formed specifically because of the Omnic Crisis.
As for the Jack-Reyes conflict. The cover features both present day Reyes and Morrison so I wouldn't discard the possibility of their conflict being touched upon so easily.
The novel is gonna be 120p that's plenty of space to tell a story.

For example, Ana talks about how she "died" and why she's coming back, Tracer describes the Slipstream incident that made her, well, Tracer, Reinhardt's comics briefly touches on how he used to dispense justice on the streets, etc. They don't tell us how exactly they found themselves in those situations. We don't know how Tracer even decided to become a pilot in the first place, what made Reinhardt put on armor and go out fighting crime, we don't get to see Ana's early life, Genji and Hanzo's backstory can be summed up in "one brother killed the other; drama ensues", there's literally nothing about Widow's life as Amelie Whatshername. Well, you get the idea.

We've seen example pages, they show Ana, Torb, Jack and Reyes together on a mission. And another showing them in some kind of base discussing something. So it definitely won't be about them just forming.

Last month's Comic-Con, asked about whether there will be a story mode eventually they said that it's something that's on their minds and while they have nothing to announce they want to do at some point.

And lastly, Talon was still around during the original OW so it's not like the backstory is void of human political conflicts, in fact a big chunk of it depends on them.

There is a number of WoW and Battle.Net related things that they said they will "think about". I think one of them they promised to consider four years ago. Still hasn't been implemented.

They weren't an organized team of bad guys, and OW weren't equal in power to them. So it can't possibly be "team good versus team bad", because one of those teams consists of thousands of "members". It's "team good versus the apocalypse".

And now the assassination of Mondatta escalated the conflict in places where humans and omnics lived in moderate peace. While in King's Row you see plenty of evidence of humans being prejudiced against omnics. The Numbai (i think it was? Or Hollywood) has a banner that says that human-omnic relations are at all time lows following the King's Row incident.
And now there is the Sombra ARG which seems to be implying Sombra/Talon is trying to do something with omnics too.

I'm not saying it isn't bad. I'm saying that it follows a different pattern than "team good versus team bad". Two teams means having two different groups or organizations, one of them clearly "good" and one of them clearly "bad", with two of them being each other's primary enemies. During the Omnic Crisis, OW was just a part of the human side fighting against omnics. They weren't unique, they weren't fighting against a similarly organized group of "bad" guys, their conflict wasn't about ideologies or world views but a matter of survival. It's a completely different pattern altogether.

Hana's story is kinda out of place, actually. So far her backstory is the only place where omnic conflicts in Korea are mentioned, while the evidence of the Second Crisis in Russia exists in multiple sources. Still, those people aren't a part of Overwatch. There might be more on human/omnic relationships in their shorts or origin stories, but unless Blizzard finds a way to work them into the present day happenings, I doubt we will see more of it.

A steady conveyor of Battlefields and CoD's has nothing to do with content. They're released because they're easy to develop and they make money.

I thought it's a Kufiya. Wearing it is a basic requirement when you are outside in the desert, regardless of conviction and gender. Sand can be pesky and even fully sealed will get in your underpants, no matter what.

For girls: I don't know but my gaydar is going off the charts when looking at Tracer and my gaydar rarely gets something wrong.
Widow is probably bisexual. All her flirtatious taunts ("we need to see other people" etc) are unisex and she has a thing for teasing female characters like Lena and Hana. Plus she has 3 specific lines where she is hitting on Mercy.
For guys: people are speculating it's Genji since it would fit with him being the black sheep in the family and his journey to self-acceptance and Lucio (I don't remember exact reason why people said that).
Lots of people speculate Bliz might want to be subversive and make it characters no one expects like Jack, Gabe or Hana.

The one character everyone (except a small contrarian part of tumblr) hopes is NOT gay is obviously Zarya. And maybe McCree because that would open a "gay cowboy" can of worms probably.

Also during one of the Gamescom streams, the streamer and the dev were talking and the streamer joked that Sombra should be Hana's video game rival and after a while he added "and love interest" and the dev joked they should just make an overwatch dating sim but also added more seriously that they want to make the story about heroes themselves so there won't really be romance (who knows what they are gonna decide in the future though).

And claiming it will be about the characters and then say it won't really feature romance is horseshit. Especially since there's no better way to confirm a character has that and that sexuality by have them enter a relationship. Down the road there will be romance you can count on that.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they wouldn't unless they had explicitly planned from the beginning to make x and y be romantically involved but that apparently is down the drain now.
