I don't know much about her actual personality but I know her motivations. The story changed several times, but the one I go with is that she was ostrasized for having her powers due to the prophecy (and probably general fear). She was also outspoken and adventerous but was told that wasn't proper behavior for a princess; that she needed to be meek and polite. This caused her to become bitter and temperamental. She and Anna grew apart as they grew up for some reason. I'm not certain what it was from the context of "We Know Better" or anything else I've seen. It could have been they envied each other too much (Elsa wishing she could be popular and free-spirited like Anna, Anna wishing she was elegant like Elsa) or it could be due to their parents trying to get Anna to behave more formally so it will rub off onto Elsa and that creating a difference in their relationship.

In the last part of "We Know Better" there's a clear drift between the sisters. Anna is obsessed with romance and boys while Elsa couldn't clear less. Elsa sings the last "But we know better..." on her own, because Anna does not agree with her anymore.

In "We Know Better" Elsa is described as bold, cold hearted, and uncontrollable by nearby viillagers. This means she's definitely not quiet or docile like the current Elsa but villagers likely only see her at her worst or are spouting rumors. Her similarly-aged teenage peers also think she's a "freak". Elsa apparently attacks one of them for calling her that (nothing major, probably just throwing some snow at them or something). In "Cool With Me" Elsa sings about how she's abandoning her identity as "Elsa" to become "the Snow Queen". She says that people feared her so she's going to change that into worship by force. Anna doesn't agree with her sister and the song has them arguing.

It's also shown that Elsa is violent. She freezed the guests at Anna's wedding and later freezes Anna's heart purposely (that's probably where that concept art of onion!Elsa doing something to Anna comes from). I don't know what freezing her heart does though. It couldn't have been lethal. Elsa doesn't seem like the type to commit fraticide plus I remember hearing she just wanted Anna to understand her plight more. Or maybe it was lethal and Elsa didn't realize it.

Anna in "We Know Better" and "Cool With Me" is clearly the popular sister while "More Than Just A Spare" reverses that. They're likely from two different versions of the story however I like to mix them up in my stories, as I find it more interesting. Elsa has her fans but is often seen as something terrifying and is ostrasized, while Anna is the more outgoing and popular sister but is not respected like Elsa and is in her sisters shadow.

So, basically, onion!Elsa is more bitter and angry than pure evil. She's not some psuedo-gothic anti-Elsa either. She has similar qualities to Elsa but vents in rage instead of anxiety and depression. She doesn't conceal, she feels vividly.

All the Elsanna fics that get updated lately are modern AU, usually unrelated AU, works. It's annoying.

I recently remembered how popular Jelsa is with the target audience. I am one of the few people on here who still watches AMVs as an adult, and I have noticed an embarrassing amount of Jelsa. Literally every Non/Disney video involving Elsa is either Elsa/Jack or inexplicably Elsa/Flynn. I also noticed AO3 and FF have a lot of Jelsa fics I never noticed because I avoid them.

I always hear people complain about Elsanna but it's one of the few incest ships that make sense. Elsa and Anna have had little interaction with each other since they were little kids. I've heard genetic sexual attraction is a phenomenon that appears when relatives don't develop a proper familial bond that causes them to not see each other as romantic interests. It's basically their parents fault that their daughters are really gay for each. If they had not been kept apart then they probably wouldn't seem so flirty. Last time I checked most of the fics were either retarded or crap (or both), with very few exceptions. But to be fair it probably always was like that, and my tolerance for bullshit had not yet reached its limit back when Frozen was still fresh.

The above responses seem accurate. Also, a reverse power dynamic, where the more submissive partner takes the leadership in sex, seems to be a turn-on for many.
For me, I prefer the "you won't need anything more than what I can give you" type of relationship. In the case of Elsa and Anna I find such a dynamic especially attractive between them because of their lovely Queen/Princess combination, and somehow even more so because they are ostensibly sisters.
Here the taboo factor is high, and yet such a relationship would not hurt anyone. It is also interesting to think about how even if this weren't a fairy tale situation it could be safer for them to be close partners with one another than to bring in others, at least if Elsa is to remain in power as ruler of the land.

I really wanna see the full version sung somewhere. I doubt Disney will officially do it. They only put the cute, fluffy part on CD. I am pretty sure the reprise was removed because of the incest joke and overall darkness of it. It doesn't fit in with the current version of the characters at all so they didn't officially record it for the CD. I haven't found fan recordings either sadly; most don't even realize it's from the villain!Elsa days.

There are quite a few theories floating around that Elsa and Rapunzel are twins because of magic and hair colour, and that Elsa was sent to Arendelle because Rapunzel was kidnapped. While I think that's complete bullshit, it would allow normies to ship Elsanna without being afraid of lesbian incest between two fictional cartoon characters. Since there's no Tangled sequel on the horizon, I could see see Disney linking the two storylines somehow.

Maleficient is nothing like the other Disney live action adaptations. It's clear that it inspired the franchise however I wouldn't say Maleficient is even in the same line as Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, etc. It's not a direct adaptation like the others. Kurrent is the author for both Feel Don't Conceal and Our Fight Is Not Over. Feel is complete but you don't get Elsa's and Anna's kids until the epilogue chapters. Our Fight is just getting started, but the most recent chapter has three of their kids in it. It's a Frozen/100 crossover, which is weird as fuck, but she seems to have a plan for it. Her biggest drawback is how long she takes between updates.

Pisneg is in business to make money, which would mostly lead to a perspective of the broader the appeal, the merrier.
Also, sex sells, and unresolved sexual tension can be very hot... probably especially if taboo.

Plus the Frozen Franchise has set up a perfect frame of reference for this fantasy, in that the love shared by Princess Anna and Queen Elsa is pure and true, because family is forever. That leaves them free to do anything suggestive on the screen or in a department store without any genuine grounds for condemnation. I mean, who doesn't want two sisters to have fun adventures together and love one another?
