The problem with the other thread was the anti-amano with her paranoid, so I give some example of case of manga they think it will be het but ending pretty /u/:

I've yet to binge on the manga to determine if all the hate is warranted or if it's just /u/-brand paranoia (I'll admit the Mugino seal of approval isn't helping that matter), but judging the anime on its own merits, I absolutely loved it. It definitely benefitted from Junichi Sato's direction and was just plain beautiful.

I didn't read it, but I saw that drama enough to know it now.

Apparently, there's a little boy that is in love with Pikari. It's not mutual, but Teko is feeling jealous because she also loves Pikari. At the end of the chapter, though, she says to him: "You're a boy, so the love you feel for her is different than the one I feel. I'll support you."

If there's not exageration, it does seem like Amano just want to make sure no one thinks her characters are lesbians.

Of course, Teko could be confused and realized how the love she feels is the same at the end. But we know this has no chance of happening. The best we could ask was a subtext ending.

The "yuri" love interest tells the het love interest that she's realized her love for the MC is different from his, since she's a girl. And that she'll be rooting for him.

Apparently the het hasn't gone anywhere since then, but that scene is enough to torpedo any hopes of yuri end.

Ch 33:
A kid called Kokoro gets introduced. Pikari thinks the kid is a girl (although there was foreshadowing otherwise). In subsequent chapters, Teko and Kokoro treat each other as a kind of rivals who both like Pikari.

Ch 59:
In the middle of the chapter, Teko finds out that Kokoro is a boy (the younger brother of Kotori, a new club member). Teko says that since he's a boy, the way he likes Pikari is different from her, and she'll support him. The chapter ends with Kokoro looking cool by rescuing Pikari from fire and Pikari being surprised he was a boy (Ai was surprised too, but Makoto says he knew). A few chapters later, there's an arc where club goes on a trip to Okinawa, so since Kokoro doesn't go he's not been in the manga recently. His sister did question Pikari about her relationship with him though.

Exactly. We have a precedent of Amano killing her own yuri development in favour of surprise het ending, and as such she doesn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore.

I don't know why some people are making big deal about Amano like she did 9.11
I know the ending wasn't /u/ friendly but the series wasn't /u/ friendly in first place.
There were Akari's friend's het romance side story, few het foreshadowing, and Akari had more episode with her friend rather than Alicia (and when Akari is with Alicia, its often depicted as Yoda and Luke, rather than a romantic relationships (except for the 1st anime original OVA, Arietta))

Also it ain't all bad if you think about it, Alicia's marriage was merely for the plot for Akari becoming independent, not for romantic side plot for Alicia (You'll even find out later that she married some random guy (probably) just for Akari), and Akari's het romance option, Akatsuki got a friendzone ending. (oh and also sub-text yuri for Akari's friend Alice, wasn't killed in the ending)

I would understand about treating her like Bin Ladin if she made two or three manga that starts as pure yuri but then ends with full-het romance. But just Aria? (that isn't even yuri manga) I don't think so.

Though I would treat her like Kim Jong Un if she ended Amanchu with main plot het-romance (which probably won't happen, it will probably be no-pikari-pussy-for-both-boy-and-girl ending)

Its had an impact.
The two editions of Amanchu are only the 11th and 13th best selling anime BDs of the season-with Love Live being 1 and New Game being 2 according to stalker data from Monday the 26th in JP.

Amanchu was one of the most looked for titles going into the season but it has been killed by New Game (Love Live is in a different league, selling TWELVE times as many BDs as second place New Game).
The Amazon edition of Amanchu is 11th best anime but only the 414th best selling BD of any genre and had actually fallen 50 odd positions from the previous week and had just 1745 copies ordered. The standard edition had sold just 1415 copies and while the 13th best anime disk was only 485th overall and had fallen 45 places from the previous week.

Its sad, I had hoped she had learned something, but...
