Lot of people use it. It's gonna take a good 10 years for AO3 to hit its stride. That said, costs nothing to spaghetti your shit everywhere for the widest readerbase.

Plus for like a year AO3's pages wouldn't fully load in opera and chrome so you'd have to refresh like 40 actual times just to get a page that fully loaded at least the text.

I prefer ao3 and stick with it almost exclusively now since i only spend so much time reading fic, but they still got some shit to work out and the tag system is great when it works but terrible when it's polluted. ff.net does need a facelift.

Why is this fandom so incredibly gay?
A serious question, really. RT was and is pro-gay to start with and all of the main characters are women (five out of six if you count team Arkos), but that really doesn't explain why yuri is the norm rather than an exception. Especially when the only yuri ship with any real basis on canon is Bumblebee, and even that didn't really hit off until the end of volume 3.

The initial setup.

It's the same reason that White Rose and Bumblebee are far and away the most popular ships.

When the trailers came out (in the order they came out in, there were literally only two characters, Ruby and Weiss, and so all artwork was of them, and naturally people began to pair them even though literally nothing was known about who they were or what they were really like, were after, or had been through.

That then caught on and when the Black and Yellow trailers were released, and the team complete, the natural choice was to pair those two up as well, since White Rose had already become a fairly big thing between Red trailer's release and Yellow's (~7 months later). After all, the only male characters in the trailers (Adam and Junior) are both very clearly rejected by the girl in question. Thus BB was popular despite minimal interaction between the two before mid V2.

Once a fandom steers in a direction, people who like that direciton flock to it and people who don't particularly care about that direction still end up pushed towards it by virtue of fandom content being angled towards that direction.

Dunno. It's jam packed with girls. The protagonists are an all female team in a school setting shonen anime. The girls themselves being pretty standard party bag of tropes with a little twist. Each team has two pairs of partners. They're already "paired" so it's not a large leap to make it romantic. Then once you've went that far monochrome/freezerburn/enabler/ladybug isn't as large of a stretch anymore. Plus cute lesbians being cute is healing.

Depends on what you're into, but for me, good writing consists of many things:

-Characters that are in-character, meaning consistent with who they are in the show.
-Dialogue that sounds natural
-A good balance between description and dialogue
-A point to the story; something has changed, something has been revealed, something has been overcome, etc.
-Conflict, meaning that there is an opposing force the protagonist overcomes. This ties in closely with the point above. Remember your high school English classes? Man vs. Man, Man vs. Self, Man vs. Society, etc. Conflict is essential because it frames the plot and point of the story.

Not claiming that they won't ever get together, but no ship has actually become "canon" just yet. Even Arkos got denied that. Best wait and see, assuming you actually like the show and aren't just here for the ships. Then you might as well just check in here and ignore the show.

The show might take its perceived romantic arcs in an interesting direction. Just because two characters show an interest in each other doesn't mean it is inevitable they get together. It really depends on what kind of story the writers want to tell and Arkos already proves RT isn't interested in writing a straightforward plot. I don't think any /u/ Weiss ship is actually going to happen, but then again I don't think Wess and Neptune are going to be a thing. Neptune's character was written in to make it clear to Jaune his hopes of seducing Weiss were in vain. Ending that plotline and getting the JaunexPyrrha arc in full motion. After the dance arc where Jaune gives up on Weiss, Neptune pretty much drops out of the picture IIRC since he served his purpose.

Fun thing about not having the original creator of the show around any longer, any flaws with the story or character development that might come up in the near future, RT can just blame on him and his "original vision".After all, Monty had always planned for Pyrrha to die in the show as well, according to them. Only difference was that they changed the whole point of her death from being a "serious Jaune character development" moment to a "Ruby is the chosen one" moment, which probably wasn't even supposed to happen until way later in season 4, originally.

It is of course possible, but I doubt it. Killing off a main character before the final season seems like way too much of a risk for a show like RWBY to take on. The same is true for a one-sided romance. Writing an unresolved romance between two major characters is a big risk because you can't just shove one of them aside and they are going to have to be able to continue working together. Unless the writer just wants every Blake-Yang interaction to be about the one-sided feelings or have those feelings just go and disappear. It is possible to write a conclusion to such an arc that satisfies the audience and allows you to move past that specific plotline, but it's a major challenge imho. Sun having his romance arc with Blake resolve like that is easier because he is a side character. A writer can abuse the fact that the story isn't about him to underplay his failed romantic attempt without it being unsatisfying for the audience. You can even use it to build his character in another direction to make him more interesting rather than just making him love interest bait for Adam. Still difficult to write well, but not nearly as much as two title characters.

If I was writing RWBY, I would either make bumblebee happen successfully or just not do it this early on or at all. If the goal is to give the relationship a sad end, I would save the whole plotline for later in the story.

Of course, successful Bumblebee doesn't mean no conflict. With how volume 3 ended, you could easily write this relationship out to the very end. Even after Yang forgives Blake, there is so much for the two to handle on their own personal arcs that neither really has time to focus on their feelings for the other. That specific plotline would be mostly background until the very end then you can have one of them do the Pyrrha thing if you really want that.

Nah, if you look into it, Silver Eyes was planned from the start unlike the maidens. Ozpin points them out in the very first episode, and I don't see them retconning the main (lol) character's background by making her a maiden like that.

If anything, I hope the maiden story ends with the powers dying out; or at least becoming irrelevant somehow. Because if any of RWBY gets maiden powers, any future villains are guaranteed to be shittily written because of Miles' stance that "villains have to be powerful because they're the villains." It would mean either maiden abilities getting majorly downplayed, or another stupid fairy tale power getting introduced that's, surprise, magically more powerful than the maidens.
