I followed the manga until scanlations stopped, so here's my knowledge from almost 90 chapters worth of content if you want to know what you're in for:

Kaminashi (MC) has a classmate who likes her and he's around for the first couple of chapters but Kaminashi shows zero romantic interest in him and he quickly becomes irrelevant when she goes to a Keijo school to become a pro. Kaminashi has a bunch of ecchi moments with MIyata (rival/other MC) and has Miyata has been shown to be flustered when Kaminashi stripped in front of her to figure out if there's a weakness in her body.

Among the elites in the school, there's one elite who shows a lot of interest in Kaminashi but always talks about picking up guys. The best student in the school is most likely a lesbian since she looks through a bunch of dirty magazines featuring women, hit on Kamniashi and at one point when Kaminashi asked for advice, she offered to "continue teaching her in bed".

As for the presence of guys, there are some engineers in the school who take care of setting up for the sport. There was one male student who offered commentary a few times but he hasn't been seen as much lately. However, other than the first chapter, no one except women have competed in Keijo. Overall, I don't expect any serious romance out of this but if there is any romance, it is more likely to be yuri than het.

I own a physical copy and while the official licensed translation isn't bad per se, there are a few instances where they literally did the "according to keikaku (TL note: keikaku means plan)" shtick that wasn't warranted because the terms they didn't translate were then TL noted in one word. I think one of the examples was new year's allowance, but it's been a while since I've read it. So if random Japanese words left in every now and again bother you, I guess you should stick with the fan version.

Can you help me anons? I'm interested in re-reading a manga I read years ago, but the problem is I can't remember what it was called or who wrote it at all.

I remember it was a basic schoolgirlxschoolgirl plot, the one girl had a single mom who was always out busy with work. So they were doing it at her place (can't remember if it was fucking or just heavy make-outs) and the mom came home and found them out. Then things get awkward and they have a Talk and etc.

I can't remember if it was part of a longer story, or if it was a self-contained release, but in my mind that story was a few chapters - might just be misremembering though. When I first remembered it last year I was convinced it was by Morinaga Milk, but I couldn't find anything like it looking through what I found of her works. So I'm hoping maybe some anon remembers a story like that.

Well, to torrent, you first need a torrenting client, say uTorrent as one example. Second, you need either a torrent file or a magnet link so it knows what to download. You should usually get all your anime stuff from nyaa.eu, just narrow the categories to "Anime - English Translated" when you search for something. Next, you use the client to start torrenting the torrent file. This downloads the content. Generally, torrenting works by connecting to other people who have the content and downloading it in pieces from all of them. If you don't set your client not to upload, you will also send out the pieces you have to others who want them. Once you have finished downloading completely, you will 'seed' the torrent (just keep giving out the data to others who connect to you) until you remove the torrent from the client. Is that helpful?

Well, without any VPN literally anyone that's also interacting with the torrent can see you.
If you're worried about it you can just set your client so you don't upload anything at all and never seed. When they do go after someone, it's usually those that create or seed the torrents, not random downloaders. Additionally, it's usually only the big movie, music, and software producers that bother to crack down on torrenting, so anime is rahter safe.

There's a theme running through the manga of her doing what she thinks other people expect of her, including thinking she has to fuck a guy to be a grownup. The fact that she nearly ruined her relationship for a sexual encounter *she didn't even enjoy* is a fucking huge plot point. Her and Setsuko have a lot of sex offscreen, just because you don't see it doesn't mean she's never gone down on her. I didn't realise oral sex was apparently the litmus of lesbian behavior anyway. You plural or you singular? Sure, if it happened again in something I was reading today I probably would drop it. Honestly, I wasn't particularly happy about it happening at the time either, but there was a lot less choice of what to read 5-8 years ago and I've only grown to appreciate Octave as much as I do upon rereading it with a bit more life experience each time. I think the problem is generalising all manga that have yuri in them as 'yuri manga' though and demanding they all abide by some unwritten set of rules or dismissing them. Octave is a coming of age manga that happens to have a lesbian protagonist, and a significant aspect of her journey is discovering her sexuality and coming to terms with it, especially given how averse she is to standing out, after the fall out from her aborted idol career. Realistically, a significant number of gay teenagers of both genders fuck people of the opposite sex either to confirm their orientation or out of a sense of obligation.

But I also understand and accept that most people don't come to /u/ looking for realism - nor do I, usually.

First, I feel that the overwhelming majority of /u/ works are derivative of pre-established franchises and most of these aren't fantasy based. It's been regarded as a Citrus "clone" because the girls are stepsisters, not for the absurd quantity of idiotic drama.
It isn't a masterpiece but it's not that bad, it's pretty standard and predictable but still enjoyable (expecially considering the lack of other options).

The only other recent j drama I recall is actually a 10 minutes oneshot, but it's canon: episode 23 of AKB Koi Koujou.
