Naruto over (albeit with a sequel almost immediately) and now Bleach. Wonder how much longer One Piece will go on.

I wonder if we'll see any replacements or if this is the end of the Shounen Jump epic.

to be more precise, the bleach ANIME ended when Aizen was defeated, but the manga kept going. The current and last arc pretty much ties up most of the loose ends(emphasize on "most")

everyone likes a manga for different reasons, and not everyone is just there for waifus. To some up why it still got published:
Even though the ranking in weekly shonen jump wasn't that great, the sales of the tonkobans was still strong because reading it in one go is more suitable for the current bleach than reading it weekly.

Try reading it now all in one go, you might actually enjoy it.

(p.s.: I personally read it because i am the kind of person who just needs to know how a story ends after investing so much time into it. Also it was fun reading it together with /a/, it's fun to laugh the absurdity etc.)

The previous editor-in-chief of Jump left to work with Viz in San Francisco. I figure since he was around when Bleach was at it's peak he just let Kubo and his editor do whatever they wanted in some kind of Jump "tenure." But I think when the new guy came in he told Kubo he had a year to get a certain number of chapter above a certain ranking because Bleach is pretty consistently in the 12-15 rank out of 15 comics a week. This is just my speculation at least but the arrival of a different editor in chief was definitely bad news for him.

It's really a shame because there was enough setup for the last arc and I was pretty hype, but the new characters and fights just ended up being a lot of asspulls and reality bending with no real fighting, just one-upping and a lot of established characters got neglected. Kubo has admitted that when he's stuck in a story he just likes ot make new characters. Problem is that Bleach isn't a journey style story like One Piece where making new characters, letting them do their thing, then moving on with potentially for later appearances, work just fine.

I don't even like Bleach and that ending chapter made me angry. Mostly because I hated Rukia with Renji, but it just seemed so bad nevertheless.

I always had a sweet spot for Yorusoi though. It's really cute.

Bleach had been on decline for years, if Shueisha wanted it to end it would had ended a long time ago. It's more probably that Kubo and WSJ accorded a "final" date for it to end like "on its 15 anniversary". Kubo though he could make it and failed at it. Conspiracies are fun, but are usually nonsense. Always bet on author's incompetence.

So, now that we've thoroughly talked about how kubo is a failure, let's maybe switch gears and talk about some of the decent Yuri that's come out of it.

There's not that much material to discuss. Chizuru disappeared from the series after Fake Karakura Town, and there was a single throwaway moment where Tatsuki was impressed with Rangiku's looks that people often translated with lesbian overtones. YoruSoi is the only pairing that got much traction, and even that suffers from the fact that after their fight the two never really interacted much in the manga.

As for other girls, I'd be willing to bet there's more futa than actual /u/.

The anime actually continued through the Fullbring arc, and the final arc actually raised more questions than it resolved. The only thing that DID get resolved was that the male and female leads got paired off and had kids.

Hell, two Captains who were pretty much confirmed dead suddenly appeared alive and well in the second to last chapter, no explanation given.

That's what the annoying shippers deserved.
Also no Quincy, it was poorly written, killed of characters pointlessly in dumb ways, was rushed as hell, answered no question and made new ones and finally it dragged any positive memory to the ground, giving Bleach a bitter aftertaste which it didn't deserve (considering it's first half).

Likewise, and I'm disappointed that it ended early. I didn't actually like it any more, but now there are all these unanswered questions just left hanging, like the Qunicy's connection to the Soul King, and what Yhwach wanted to do with Soul Society after conquering it.

Me exactly. I ranted and cursed at it so much when it ran. After knowing it's over I suddenly had a bit of remorse. The last arc was still bad but I think I got mellowed by how I still liked some concepts after all, the reason why I watched it at first I guess.

Those good bits is the comedy (some of it) though, not the shounen drama and BS.
I think it made me feel bad for bashing it all time with the moment when Renji and Rukia see adult-form Hitsugaya and Renji goes "who are you", with Rukia - "idiot, can't you tell by the looks and voice?" "It's Captain Hitsugaya's older brother." Renji: "Ah, what quick thinking. Well met!"

I think I liked that and it kinda improved the final perception from the whole mango. Plus the funny faces - Bleach artstyle sucks but the funny faces are good.
