In case you don't know: Asahina was the childhood friend of the protagonist, and was hopelessly in love with him. She disappears from the story after the first two episodes. When she is reintroduced, she escapes with him from Tokyo (plot point on the show) and Ayato promises her to always protect her. But after a little while, she becomes one of the show "enemies." While fighting him (her body and the "enemy" where at different places) she desperately tries to write a letter confessing her feelings for him, and he kills her just in time to notice her message. The scene itself is heartbreakingly beautiful.

That was quite a different situation, though. For GuP, they just delayed the airing of a couple episodes to fix specific quality issues, they didn't stop the whole series and start over.

Sure, the sound effects have been poor, but that's the only issue, and you wouldn't redo the whole series just for that. The animation has been smooth and well done, the action scenes are fantastic, and there hasn't been any noticeable QUALITY moments. There are plenty of other anime this season that look much worse.
I'm guessing the "not up to standards" thing is just a corporate excuse, and the actual reason is something else. Perhaps issues with budget and or time?

The biggest issue was definitely the audio. It's very hard to enjoy the otherwise nice looking fights when the sound effects are painful to listen to.

Another issue I had plotwise was that because so little info is given to us early on it's difficult to get invested in what's happening. It seemed like this episode was starting to fix that though. The interaction between Rena and Tia/Sara was starting to hint at interesting info about the regalia and their partners so it sucks to see the show put on hold just as I start really wanting to know more.

I'm going to choose to remain positive and look forward to the show restarting with improvements.

In this interview with the producer, he said there will be new scenes and new lines added in episode 1-4. There will also be some reanimation. There is no big change to the story but he think the viewers' impression of the series will change greatly.

I'm hoping it might mean a bit more footage of the other couples.

I did think the show started a bit slow and it wasn't really clear what the main plot of the show was supposed to be about, but in ep3-4 it did sort of start to show hints about the importance and stakes of the regalia and their partners.

Obviously the way Yui loves her people and is loved by them as a leader and her more personal love for Rena are supposed to come into conflict and it seemed like there were hints about the regalia couples being purposely kept away in another land for some reason.

Hopefully they'll make it a bit more clear from the start this time.

Not much to talk about. The fight scene was improved by speeding up some frames, the random boat down the river was completely redrawn, Ingrid's face in few shots changed, the bed was redrawn and they highlighted the flashback. Also I feel as if the sound is louder but still retains those crackling distorted effects. That's it really.

We all discussed these episodes to death when it comes to what little of the plot there is. Might as well wait for episode 5 before making another thread.
