This. The deciding factors are text bubble size, the font you choose (all caps or not), and the clarity of the sentence. As long as no reader can mistake a single sentence as two, choose what you want.

Ah, okay. Well, looking through it, I still take issue with the translation in a few places, though this is without knowing Japanese at all.

On page 6, Haruka thinks, "One day time suddenly stopped. I knew how many minutes it would last, but I had no idea why or when it would stop." Why did Haruka know how long it would last?

On page 26, the "Got x" part still sounds awfully clunky. What exactly "got" that stuff... there's no subject to the sentence at all! I can infer that it means Moritani, as she's the once speaking there, but it still makes no sense.

But the title of this page is 「せめてひじは曲げて」 literally "Bend your elbow at least". Why??

Also I'm not sure how to translate バリバリ in the following sentence so that it sounds natural:

On a side note, it's not entirely accurate to translate 修羅場 to a simple "fight" since 修羅場 has a more chaotic and tense connotation. 修羅場 is also often used to refer to a love related quarrel.

Probably better to translate バリバリ食べる as one phrase instead of translating バリバリ only. The two possibilities are "gobble it down" or "gulp it down," but "gulp it down" is the better choice of the two since it's more commonly used.

I don't know the whole context, so it won't be accurate. But the end translation would be something like:
"It'd be embarrassing to gulp them down, too..."

So I've got an interested party for typesetting the Shakaijin Yuyushiki translation and I wanted some second thoughts on this example page they sent (using the current proofread).

Personally, I think it looks okay. I don't see anything particularly wrong with it but I've never managed an editing project before, so any input would be appreciated. In the meantime, they'll be working on a template for when the final proofreading revisions are done.

Only looked at a couple pages. Could have been better cleaned; the whites made more white and stuff better erased.

For example, on page 12, with the infirmary sign and other places, you can plainly see where you've erased the Japanese, because you erased it to pure white whereas the original wasn't pure white but had a greyish tinge. Also some specks, probably from the Japanese text, that you didn't erase fully in that sign and other text bubbles.

Something often done before typesetting is leveling, which is just adjusting the blacks to properly be black and the whites to properly be white. It would clear away some of that grey tinge, though not entirely. Should be able to find something about that in one of the guide links in the op.

As far as the typesetting itself goes, the only thing I'd work on is how you break up your words. Basically, you want to try and do this as little as possible, giving longer words a seperate line if there's enough room in the bubble. Nothing you should desperately try to change this time around, but something to keep in mind for the future.

Well, I guarantee my corrections are good, though a couple could be better worded.

The first sentence in particular is too literal. Something like, "nothing you say will leave this room/these lips" or "everything you say will stay between the two of us" would be better.

It might work fine if it were Ran speaking prior to the thought square, but it's Yurika. You can tell from the style of speech.

Well, the way I saw that was: Ran is all bummed out but won't talk to Yurika initially, so Yurika says the "just by having someone listen," bit with no luck, then talks about her own troubles of being unable to get over someone. After which Ran decides to open up, starting with a sort of, "you'll be the one to listen to me?" thing, in response to what Yurika said earlier about having someone listen.

I haven't seen Aikatsu and if there's more to the comic than you posted, I haven't read that either. So it's possible I could miss something there though.

That's totally different from what I initially saw... I thought Ran was the one who shared her troubles to Yurika. It was hard to tell because the speech bubbles in page 3 didn't point out to who the speaker was. But if I read the tone of the dialogue, it's definitely Yurika (Ran uses more masculine words). Also I thought it was Ran because the scene "panned" towards a picture of Aoi and Ichigo together.

Yours made more sense and no, that's the entire comic.

To summarize:

The entire confession was made by Yurika and Ran opened up in the end by bringing up the question.

Ran definitely likes Aoi and were dating. The original was:

Yurika: でもその人につきあってる人がいたの

I think the implication was Ran and Aoi were dating at some point, but Ichigo took Aoi away from Ran. There's no more story behind it, and I think it represents how unexpected the Aoi Ichigo album was. The album will trigger your goggles instantly because it featured Aoi and Ichigo in wedding dresses.
