Aki and Youka was the highlight of the game for me.

The climax of the Maki and Miki arc was great too, it was obvious what issues were going to be addressed but how they addressed them was both well foreshadowed and different enough to be unexpected.

Sasa and Umi were great at most times and I liked the themes they were covering but there were a few points that were silly enough to pull me out of it a bit. Still loved them.

Problem with the game not having a shitty faceless protagonist is that they made her the best (and hottest) character. Now I can't have a Yuna route.

Besides being jealous of Youka's bandmates during their love scene and Megumi saying that Aki was selfish and jealous like her, I really wished they had done more with it as well, since it's supposed to be such an important part of her character. From what I've heard, their drama CD and the Aki Recipe staff doujin get more into Aki's jealousy issues. Though they come across as pretty irrational, since none of the parties seems legitimately interested in Youka that way. Plus, Youka's bandmates are in their 20s.

I was honestly blown away by Yuna, Sasa and Aki character design. Mostly Yuna. Too handsome.

I'm sure it's not just their looks alone, but a combination of pretty face, tall and lean body, their specific facial expressions and reactions to certain things, that gives me such an intense "handsome" impression at every angle. Some of my friends never understand me why I only ever call certain feminine girls that, instead of obviously boyish characters like Matsuri/Youka/Hina. I'm not sure I could put it into words well, but I never think of the latter type as handsome.

Uzuki (Akaiito), Fate (Nanoha), Hazuki (Yamibou) Mirei (VDM), Sachiko (Marimite) are other examples that I'd call handsome.

Yeah, the most important thing is not looking like a stereotypical butch. A combination of feminine looks and detached-yet-competent personality is what strikes me as handsome the most.

Not all short hairstyles makes a girl look like a bulldyke though. The first time I saw Aki, I got the same impression as the other long hair characters. And her neutral faces and that big ass sport wristwatch made her look badass.

Nena is another character that I would call handsome. From appearance alone, I initially categorized her into Matsuri et all. type, until her drowsy demeanor, silent competence, cool interactions with Yuna, the calm yet harsh talk she gave Umi/Sasa onthe roof,... changed my whole impression. All of that fit so well that I wouldn't want her to look any other way.

The sprite designs are great, but there's an excess 10-20cm of lower torso length on pretty much every sprite. It's hidden a bit by the fact most characters have overly long sweaters, and the sprites don't show the knees. Pretty much my only gripe with the whole game. It's not prominent in the CG, fortunately.

I love really Peg's art style too, particularly the simplicity of the colours. There is a bit of extra length in the upper legs, but that isn't what I'm talking about.
If you trace out outline of a body, or overlay the sprites with a skeletal form, it doesn't quite add up, and the shirts and skirts are a very long, like there's extra lengths between the top of the pelvis and the bottom of the ribs. It's most pronounced on Umi and Nena. It's quite subtle, and doesn't really matter. It sort of bugged me a little because the characters looked a bit vertically stretched. I think if they did nude sprites they would have had to adjust the proportions.

Besides the too much dragging/lack of Hina's perspective before the apples/Hina feels too much like a little sister, I think one of the main reasons people are disappointed in YunaHina is because of the character design.

Adding in Ano, whose looks are universally agreed to be hot, Hina will look especially bad in comparison. Without Ano, YunaHina will only be meh. With Ano in the picture, people rage because it's a reminder of what they could have had instead.

It's an unfortunate combinations of factors. Although I maintain that Yuna's romance arc would be more interesting if it's with someone a bit livelier (Megumi, Ano, or even Seina) to balance her out, instead of Hina's half-mute nature.

I don't give a single shit about Ano and still actively dislike Hina, or rather, that she becomes the love-interest as the "least important character". That's just now how you write a heroine. You don't do "oh by the way, this girl that had 5 lines 5 hours into the game? She's the main-heroine!".

I knew several people who dropped the game before even playing it, because they saw the CG gallery with only Hina as the route for MC. I myself was disappointed, but tried to be openminded and played it anyway (and glad I did), but yeah, the summer camp scene where Yuna fell for Hina completely killed the main storyline for me. There's obviously no way for us to know what the sales would have looked like if Hina had looked differently, handled differently, or Ano being a route. But here are truth:
1. Not a small number of people complaining about no Ano in both the Japanese and English release. Enough to make the head writer aware AND tweeted a sorry for it.
2. Yuna/Ano is the biggest crackship in the fandom and is one of the top 3 biggest ship (as far as fanarts and doujis go). A strange phenomenon for a yuri series with explicit canon couples. Compare this with, say, Sonohana, or Sakura Trick: little to no crackshipping.
3. Two of my friends didn't bother with this because they saw the CG pack on sadpanda and saw Yuna only end up with Hina. I almost did the same until I was bored enough to force myself to give it a try.

You must not have read many VNs, because the writing in Yurirei was indeed noteworthy as far as this genre goes. There are a couple of weak plot elements (operation sparkling sunshine, Sachi's worries, etc), but overall characterization, thought development, proper priorities of concerns, pacing, realism, etc. are not something I typically see in VN, let alone a yuri one. So, here the "problem" of yurirei comes in. It works like all those "older" manga. Yuri from the get-go, and ONLY yuri as its selling point. It doesn't give a single shit about making you grow with the character and see them growing their feelings for each other which result in love. No, the game slaps that into your face. It's INSANELY superficial in that regard. The way Yuuna falls in love is a sad joke. And let's not talk about "sparkling" shit or "hey I saw this girl at the entrance of the school!!". Some things get by and some things don't, but that does not mean they are allowed when they do get past.

I do assume there is some leeway, but if you are not sure it is best to post it on imgur and link it, or crop it if that works. Some pictures get by on the fact that we can't tell if someone in it is male or female, and some get by either because the male in it was just in the background or something or because no one bothered to report it since it still followed the spirit of the rule.

The deleted post was just a reaction pic of snoop dog though, so regardless of what you think of the actual or unspoken rules it broke them. If anon is new here and needs some /u/ reaction pics then I am sure we could fix that while discussing whatever.

Sachi and Megumi focused scenes have some of the best emotional moments in the game. They are also a big part of the entire story so you'll enjoy this a lot. Their development builds up over the course of the full story so don't worry if they seem static at first and stick with it.

Doesn't even need to be a sequel in my opinion. I just want whoever made this to make more. The art, music, characters, premise, all executed this well, it would be a shame if nothing else came after in some form or another.

It would be pretty hard to write ghosts into a sequel anyway, but I would still really miss the school itself. They put enough thought into the school's past that they were able to have a character fall in love with it and I thought that was great.

i'm at lost at this scene, really. i don't expect maki to do such thing to a girl two years older than her. a senpai, mind you.
it's all began when she overheard this senpai saying some mean stuff about aihara, like aihara being a masochist or comparing her to a janitor.
those words definitely started the fire on maki's head. the fire rises quickly until she can't hold that hotheadedness and storm the class alone. yes, she didn't get to bring friends there, she did not even have any master plan. she just come in and kick the table where that senpai sit. definitely crashing the senpai until she cried. it must be extremely painful for that senpai to be dominated by a cute first year like maki.
not even senpai's friend dare to stop maki. not even yuna, it's pretty clear that maki is the one in charge there. she's not calmed down until aihara come to the class and persuade her to calm down and stop. what we can conclude about maki is that, despite her small and adorable appearance, make no mistake, she's a big girl and she will crash the class with no survivors if anyone dare to speak ill of aihara-senpai

Given that we're seeing occasional announcements actually relating to the franchise, sure. If this was suffering from stage-1 /ksg/ syndrome where the thread begins recycling absolutely all content, then I'd say no.

As it is, though, yeah, a new thread would be nice. Give Kindred a little more time in the sun.
