1) There is an infinite amount of reasons why it shouldn't be possible on Remnant but since it's possible on Earth it's only reasonable to assume that it works there too. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, assume Texas since that's where the show is being made. The procedure itself cannot be that complex. It's an inevitability unless some deity oversaw the destruction of the moon. The lack of showers is an oversight in M&K's part.

You don't quite understand the magnitude of the problem.
We are already reaching a critical limit on our most used orbits since we have launched so much crap up there. This is happening even when the price tag to low Earth orbit is around ten thousand dollars per kilogram.
In fact, a domino effect is a very real possibility where a single violent collision could trigger a massive chain reaction across the orbit, reducing satellites to destructive supersonic clouds of scrap.
Half a moon's worth of dust, gravel, boulders and mountains is impossible to avoid. The problem with space is the conservation of momentum which means that the orbit is filled with unavoidable supersonic pebbles.

The atmosphere is made of mainly nitrogen, they all breath oxygen, they live in apparently four dimensions, things don't fall sideways, Thursday comes after Wednesday and nobody likes taxes. Some things just don't change; literally everything is possible by going off-tangent and assuming wildly unintuitive things.

In the future, I'm going to jump right to taking a break. I just spent a week trying everything else while fighting with the characters, who wanted to ruin everything I had planned for the story. Nothing worked, so I gave up and took a couple of days off. It let me come back to the scene with an open mind and figure out how to string things together in a different way that prevented the problems I was having earlier form being an issue.

Also, take it from your nee-san that taking a break is very solid advice. It's the same sort of thing you do when you keep getting blown the fuck up when playing a fighting game online or get stuck in a Souls game. After a certain point you're going to be doing more harm than good. Stop forcing yourself to write something and play some vidya or read some manga and let your mind run over things while you actually enjoy yourself. It really helps.

Mild writer's block: Take a break, put your mind to something else. You can even try writing something other than what you're trying to, just to get the gears turning. I usually write up small mini-fic ideas here which is worse in the long run because I have more ideas to get writer's block on
Severe writer's block: Take a longer break, or try to inspire yourself. Just browse some /u/ content and let the lesbianism soothe your mind.
Alternatively, you can force yourself to start writing so you at least have a rough jumping off point.
Extremely severe: Sometimes, you just can't. I've been telling myself to write a Glynder fic I promised last July.

If it helps, if you feel like you're "fighting" the characters, it might be that you're not letting the story happen. You're not the boss; the story is the boss. Thanks for the advice. I think that's kind of how I try to write, but put far more eloquently than anything I'd ever come up with.

Still, sometimes something needs to go a certain way for the sake of the story but the characters rebel and derail the plot. When that happens, I end up in a fight with them where I'm trying to sell them on minor variations of the preceding events until I come up with something where they're okay with acting in a way that doesn't ruin the story I wanted to tell.

Putting that in a way which doesn't make it sound like the characters are also voices in my head, sometimes it's a struggle to find a way to approach an important event or conversation that keeps the plot on track without characters being out of character.
