Stainless Night was always shaky ground around here because of that one scene, but I agree with >>2017363 and >>2017381. The girl was a full robot, her thing wasn't organic and didn't look or behave like an actual penis, it didn't ejaculate or anything. It was a dildo, she just happens to have the ability to store it in an internal compartment in her body instead of her nightstand drawer.
I'm not even a fan of dildo/strapon scenes, so I'd prefer if the scene didn't happen either way, but the rest of the OVA is definitely worth it.

Come on, if we are including that that means quite a few magical girl shows are going under your "whatever else", which would at the very least include Nanoha and Madoka, the two shows symphogeah tried and failed to be.
>>
This is all my hot opinion, but El cazador was the only one I really enjoyed. Yuri was slow but obvious and the situations/episodes the main characters go through were interesting/fun by themselves. Plus, ost was bomb.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yclCVDeWCHk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Idx3pdmDskg

Yuru Yuri accomplished what it set out to do too. No complaints from that one either.
>>
>>2025364
Neither of them were as focused on the girl-girl relationships as Symphogear. Its first season was entirely based around HibiMiku, whereas Nanoha was up its ass with backstory and exposition and Madoka was doing its own thing.
>>

You can say what you want, but there is only one show where the quality of the writing, the depth of the characterization and setting, and the beauty and sorrow of the story put it in the highest class of any anime ever produced - yuri or otherwise.

Until the day I die I will regard it, not merely as the greatest yuri anime, but the greatest anime of all time.

Totally agree. I rewatch it at least once a year. I just enjoy everything about it. The world, the OST, the characters, the drama. Oh gosh. It gives me such a special feeling.
>>
>>2053340
>>2053722
I've watched the first few episodes and I really like a lot about it but I felt that it focused too much on Aaeru to the detriment of the large cast and world building that could be going on. I quite like her as a character but everyone else needing to ride along with her to get relevance was getting formulaic and strained my enjoyment. Does this lessen as the series goes on?
>>
>>2053764
I honestly feel the characters are given the screen time they deserve, other than Roatreamon and Mamina. I would have wanted someting more from those two. Just something.
>>
>>2053770
maybe it's just me, or it gets better as the series goes on.
It just presented me with such an interesting and diverse world to explore but it feels like that world only really moves when Aaeru's around so that takes a bit of the sparkle out of it. I'm pretty quick to dislike stories of this type when the main protagonist is the solution to every problem. I really like everything else about the show though so I'm a bit torn.
>>
>>2053779
I kind of get what you're getting at. But I feel that Aaeru is only important to Nevirils emotional development. The story is driven forward without regard to her, and all the other characters get to contribute. Aaeru doesn't have the answers, only the confidence and drive. Depending on how you look at it, she can be seen as destructive rather than the typical hero.

Or, if you already saw it and are still unsure - yes, the whole cast get significant development, albeit to different degrees. And there are very interesting developments and explorations of the world that have nothing to do with Aaeru. (Pic spoilery but related.)

There was a multi-chapter story series that was exactly that, a girl in the most typical harem situation imaginable, but I can't remember the name of it. Anyway, I don't think it was translated beyond the first few chapters. As for anime...honestly, probably the closest thing is Strawberry Panic.

I'm watching it right now because of this thread, episode 05. I'm a bit angry. So many missed opportunity for onscreen kisses. I know it's 2deep4you anime, and I like this kinda of thing but feels repetitive. Reading the replies I noticed other anons feel like me. Well, at least I'm not the only one.

No matter how I feel, I'll finish it. Maybe in the end, everything will make sense somehow, who knows. I'm not holding my breath though. I just know there's something really wrong with that principal.

The way they develop the story is massive, tiring at least for me. But enjoyed it. The anger I endured was worth it, the ending was alright. ...I think that I'm not sensible enough to appreciate this anime the way it deserves. I swear I'm not watching anything with flashbacks for a while.

Best way to look at it is a a 12 episode long fairy tale.

But yes, those are pretty common complaints. Personally I loved all of it and am surprised by how mixed opinions on it are, but 2deep4u stuff is always pretty polarizing I feel so it probably comes down to if you 'get' it.

I never really felt the need for onscreen kisses early on though, considering the extremely large amount of stuff like two girls hungrily lapping honey off of a lily at the same time with nudity.

Krupinski's entire character in established canon is that she's a womanizer. Unless they change her character in the anime.

>She is also a hard-drinking womanizer and a hedonist with an easygoing and optimist personality.

There's also Sadako the hugbunny who just can't get enough of cute things. The 502nd twitter story by the series creator was quite yuri compared to the anime.

Well, Brave Witches hasn't aired yet so who knows? Anyway, it's nice to know that it is supposed to have more yuri than the nonexistent yuri from Strike Witches.

Did you even watch the anime? It has an entire episode about lesbians in space, and this was long before Madoka Magica.

>actual yuri

I see that you keep using that term. It's only used to say that someone's definiton of yuri is better than the others, which is what you're doing right now. It's quite irritating to be honest.
