Man I have really been reading a lot of Chinese web novels nowadays. Must say each and every one I have read so far have been a wonderful read.

I like it a whole lot more than the western/Japanese stuff, it's better written with more interesting unique characters and the interactions between them are also very good and funny.

Not sure if it's just the 3 authors that I have read so far but I was pleasantly surprised by how early the sex scenes happened in the stories I read, usually around 2/5 (usually around 100 chapters long) of the stories and the main chars have started doing it.

Kind of a shame that nobody translates them so that more western people know about it thought.

Does anyone know what's up with Chrissie Buhr and why she Hasn't released her fourth book yet?

Man, Spectrum was so comfy. Kinda disappointed by Nakamura's reaction to Anna showing up at the hospital. It felt like a poorly written way to force last-minute drama. Seriously, why would you not offer some sort of explanation in private somewhere before just telling the woman you're clearly in love with to leave? Especially after seeing the pain you're causing. Aside from that, super comfy though.
>>
>>2003379
It was just shy of being perfect, if only it gracefully entered the final act. Luckily it stopped short of ruining the experience entirely like others have (such as Kiss the Girl), but it sucks that there are so few books that can manage being comfy without relying on that overused method of a dramatic finish.

hiya, was hoping to ask for some recommendations for a pretty specific thing i enjoy reading and really can't find enough of-
young adult (highschool or end of highschool-ish) novels that have to do with discovering one's sexual identity and first true love, coming out of the closet etc, where this is the main theme of the book, and take place in a modern time period.
examples of books i enjoyed (which i also recommend for anyone interested in the same type as i explained)- annie on my mind, her name in the sky, keeping you a secret, dating sarah cooper, time it right (this one's ending kinda irritated me so i decided to take a break from siera maley)... and maybe some others i didn't like as much.
would be really appreciated if this hits anyone's elses spot as well and you got any names to suggest !

I recommend A Story of Now by Emily O’Beirne (there's a sequel) and At Seventeen by Gerri Hill
Check this out as well: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/16326.Lesbian_teen_fiction
>>
>>2003668
A Story of Now sounds pretty good, i'll definitely try this one.

At Seventeen, i remember it from browsing for new books and the summary at least didn't spark my interest so much, but i'll give it another check.

regarding this link of the teen lesbian fiction list, i've been through it before as well and didn't have much luck finding new things. either read and liked/disliked, or the summary didn't fit into what i'm looking for.

thank you very much !
and i'm still open for suggestions

Qualities of Light
>>
>>2003580
I don't think I've read any relaxing books that completely forego reliance on drama but there are a few which have such nonthreatening drama that it barely registers.

That Witch! - Zoe Lynn
Finding Ashlynn - Zoe Lynn
Our Demented Play Date - Kat Fletcher
Promises, Promises - LJ Baker (no drama but very little romance either)
Midnight in Orlando - Amy Dawson Robertson I don't recommend the sequel because it is a 360 on the tone of the 1st by going for drama

Can't think of any others. Luckily there are enough good books that were written with a dramatic yet appropriately intelligent climax.
>>
>>2003580
Robin Alexander's later stuff.

Siera Maley has some really good work, but I agree the ending of Time it right, was a bit disappointing. I would still recommend Taking flight.

Not sure why it doesn't get recommend much, but check out, 'The Miseducation of Cameron Post'

I wouldn't recommend 'That witch' because the characters have no real depth, and I ended up hating the protagonist and her girl friend.
>>
>>2004515
i really enjoyed time it right through the most of it, and would still recommend it as a nice book, however she really seemed to get lost somewhere around three quarters of the plot and blew away every good thing about the two leads, which until that point i happened to love. that plus the implied-ending instead of an enjoyable one for the reader landed the final blow

taking flight i dismissed before because it also didn't sound like it fits what i wanted to find, but i'll add that and the miseducation of cameron post to my list as well.
did you read one of the others by siera maley by any chance(on the outside & colorblind) ?

and noted regarding that witch

For Cassandra Leung, bossing around sea monsters is just the family business. She’s been a Reckoner trainer-in-training ever since she could walk, raising the genetically-engineered beasts to defend ships as they cross the pirate-infested NeoPacific. But when the pirate queen Santa Elena swoops in on Cas’s first solo mission and snatches her from the bloodstained decks, Cas’s dream of being a full-time trainer seems dead in the water.

Waiting for her on the pirate ship is an unhatched Reckoner pup. Santa Elena wants to take back the seas with a monster of her own, and she needs a proper trainer to do it. She orders Cas to raise the pup and teach him to fight for the pirates. If Cas fails, her blood will be the next to paint the sea.

But Cas has fought pirates her entire life. Santa Elena has no idea what she’s in for.

The romance is a little weird as weird as dating someone who looks exactly like their dead ex but Veritas by MJ Duncan is about a captain that runs a boat tour in the tropics.

If you like a 'prisoner falls for her captive' stockholm syndrome aspect, including the 'oh maybe they aren't as bad as they seem' trope, it's not terrible. It's like Giant Leviathan meets pokemon, but the attempt at romance, complete with the whole aforementioned 'falling for the pirate' (who are all definitely assholes, murderers, etc.except for the one love interest)

About 3/4 through, and not impressed, personally.

>>2005530
Just to conclude....wraps in a pretty flat-out 'I'm unfinished/there's a sequel planned', complete with a tweest that isn't given enough time to breathe.

Meh. The amount of self-delusion the protagonist puts herself through (the pirates have teens on 'em, they must be innocent because I saw my love interest's family on pirate island and they seemed not like murdererd). Add that to the entire premise of the book, the giant monster training, being something that apparently is going to be abandoned (to some degree) if there is a sequel, and....yeah. meh.

Also, the vast majority of 'good' reviews I glanced at on Goodreads have 'free copy from Netgalley' in their summary, so I'm a bit skeptical.

2 more I can't remember titles or authors, but if someone is willing to lend a hand; (I might be mistaken on some details, it's been a while)

the other is about a business woman who is hired by a family ski resort, the only problem being that she lied about her skiing abilities (she has none) and the daughter of the family finds out

Can be slice of life or fantasy or whatever, as long as the romance aspect isn't just a minor subplot

I've read nearly all of the,. Colour blind was.... trying. I come from a science education, and all I could think about through out the whole book was how easy it would be to test their absurd theories. It wasn't her best work, better then Time it right. I never realised 'outside' even existed, I will download this immediately.

I totally agree about Time it right, after they broke up, I kept hoping they would get back together. Particularly when she turns up crying on her doorstep. And they just threw it away

I would recommend taking flight, more for the protagonists love interest, then the protagonist herself, but overall It was probably the authors second best work.

maybe also try:
Dare Truth or Promise,
Wildthorn (fits the criteria but set in like the 1800s or 1900s or something)

Around 23.
But I only read a chapter or two every night before going to sleep.
>>
>>2007058
200+. 2 or 3 of those were even actually good, imo.

Stiletto Dolls by CL Black gets the award for "weirdest one, probably not on purpose". Half the characters have multiple personalities, plus secret identities, plus code names, and memory problems; they are all into weird rubber/leather/whatnot play, there's some odd age-play things going on, and the story is completely nuts.
Also, despite how it sounds, it always "fades to black" before the actual sex, so while 95% of the content is about it there's no actual scene in it, iirc. Oui. As the protagonist would say.

The first few chapters were probably the hardest to get past because the main character starts off pretty unlikable.

Once it gets past that it's okay, it's mostly fluff with a bit of predictable angst/drama briefly thrown in before it goes back to fluff.

All in all I thought it was alright if you're in the mood for an easy read.

It's in that huge FF collection torrent, if you're curious enough. Meow. As Dame Sterling would say.

There's a few other weird ones in there. Valley of Lesbos is about some gal getting into a plane crash and ending up in a sort of lesbian paradise. Among other weird things she decides to starve herself to death 'cause she's scared of bees (note: some het at the beginning. It'll make "sense" at the end).

Secret Diary of a Succubus is an "extra" to a 3(?)-book series; it's about an angel-turned-succubus and her succubus Mistress who is clearly evil yet "cursed" to be in love with her slave (aka the protagonist). The plot resolves around getting rid of the protagonist's memories, which is rather interesting, and the fact that lesbianism is outlawed in Hell (as well as in Heaven. Must really suck to be homosexual in that setting). Also features some het (well, a lot, we're talking about succubi after all...).
And despite the obvious sexual plot I found it weirdly interesting. Even read the 3rd book, but I have to honestly admit that I have no idea what the end was supposed to tell me.

Probably a few other odd ones in there but those are the weird ones that come to my mind first.
>>
>>2008306

Reading the newest Siera Maley, and Incan't get over how little research she did on San Francisco (really the Bay Area). One doesn't take a five minute car ride to a beach, and the water is too fucking cold to swim in all year. That kind of laziness sours the entire book.
>>
>>2008556
Just checked what I have and it isn't in there.

Just read After Glow by Stein Willard, briefly mentioned in the previous thread. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. The MC goes from being this ice queen, kick ass commander to a weepy, fainting wreck who can basically be banged into submission. They also never address that half of the main couple is immortal, while the other half is a human, which really bugs me. Like, at least introduce some super convenient way to make the Terran chick immortal instead of completely ignoring it. They left it open for a sequel...which I will probably read.
>>
>>2008765
that was mostly a joke, it's fucking terrible. like i can't tell if it was supposed to be parody bad or not. the entire thing is online. part of me wondered tho if someone was devoted enough to put it into an epub tho and put it in a legit collection like a landmine.
>>
Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fenu. It features, among other fabulous things,
1. Super akward 19th century depictions of homosexuality.

Picked a title at random in the Calibre library and ended up finding something surprisingly okay. The title is horrid, but if you're looking for a cliche, best friends for life realize they are desperately in love with one another, truelesbianlove.com by Carsen Taite isn't bad.

I also got a kick out of the author's use of the Dallas area for the story. A lot of times people will write about a city they don't live in and totally muck it up, so it's nice to see someone write what they know.
>>

So, I just finished reading That Witch! by Zoe Lynne. It was super disappointing. The two leads get together without any character development whatsoever, the project they're forced to work on together is completely forgotten about after the first third of the book, and the witch stuff is really underutilized. Like, the story would be exactly the same if witches weren't a thing in this universe.

Fuck. Rec me some good supernatural high school lesbians? Does that even exist?
>>
I remember reading a book rec on one of the older threads where the first half of the book is about this girl who runs away from home and either joins a circus or something like that and then it cuts to another character in a different location and like the ending was something like they're the same person? I remember it was pretty obscure too. It was probably sometime last year?

There's some fantasy-lesbians that go to various fantasy-schools/institutions/etc. Like the 3rd Arianthem book or Salbine Sisters and probably a few others.

That and PS Power's Keeley Thompson series; pansexual highschool demon something. She has a girl lover for a while, but it's not really about romance (the point being that demons are unemotional).
>>
>>2009449
Isn't the scholars and sorcery universe exactly this? I mean, they are private school, but they are all high school age, and the books are pretty good. There's two books plus a short story, and three more books on the way, one of which should be released pretty soon.

Urgh the MC was behaving like such a brat, I had a hard time reading it
>>
>>2010372
I was primarily annoyed by the "overbearing parent who can do no wrong" trope. And of course since the romantic interest is immediately obvious to both protagonists it's just sitting there waiting the entire book for the two idiots to realize what the reader knows from page 1. At least pretend the outcome isn't obvious...?

And it's not like the premise is particularly original. Cannon's "Just Business" is similar. "Behind The Green Curtain" has some of the plot elements. And there's the one where the love interest is hired as a sort-of 1950s homemaker, although I forgot what it was called.
Should've at least tried to be a bit original. Throw in an actual issue to overcome.

All I Want For Christmas by Clare Lydon was pretty sweet too.
On the Outside by Siera Maley

I also really like the "enemies to lovers" trope. Never gets old.
>>
>>2012765

Usually I find /u/'s recommendations of books to not be my taste but I really did like Cassandra Duffy's Divined Touched. Like I enjoyed every character and they didn't make me cringe with their eccentric personalities. Only problem I felt was the romance could have started later instead of earlier considering how long the book is.

The sequel was decent. But after reading, I was a little disappointed in the end pairing of one of the characters. Now I need some reccs of love/hate relationships.
>>
>>2012723
>angst
That is probably why I couldn't enjoy them, although I still like a little angst in other scenarios. The main thing in those books that I couldn't take was the love triangle elements. having a main pair in love with each other yet one of them is fucking around with other people anyway while the other watches and dies inside makes me too uncomfortable. I'm a total lightweight though fuck Dating Sarah Cooper
>>
>>2012765
The Traitor Baru Cormorant is really good. Might go as far as put it in the #1 lesbian lead spot. The romance aspect is only secondary, but it's nonetheless central to the setting. Primarily it's about, who would've guessed, betrayal/intrigue.

Dragonoak is also pretty good. The sequel seemed to get some more mixed reactions, but, well, it's the middle part of a trilogy, so business as usual.

Salbine Sisters is a personal favorite of mine. Reviews are comparatively negative (every piece of crap gets decent reviews so it's unsurprising that the one I like doesn't) and I can understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like how determined the lead girl is, no matter how shitty things get.

There's a few others that I think are OK,but not much point listing them all. Shame lesbians in fantasy are rare, it's not like there aren't a few protagonists around that would make really nice lesbians. Heck, some even have to turn down women. Curse those authors.

>>
>>2013024
Naw, both are entirely female. There's transgender characters around and a race that doesn't fall into the male/female category, but it never felt overwhelming or anything. It's just part of the setting.

Has anyone read Spencer's "Surrender Your Heart"? It's the classical "I love her so I abduct her and once she realizes she loves me too it'll be totally OK", but I'm not sure whether it's one of the fun ones or one of the really stupid ones ...

>>
Baru was mentioned, that leaves A Date with Angel, the other best lesbian protagonist book.

Other than those ... Hunter's Dark Peak series is quite nice, if you're into mystery. The first perhaps a bit more so than the 2nd.

(dunno if it's just me, but I have to say that "on average" the lesbian mystery novels are better than those of the other subgenres)

>A Date with Angel, the other best lesbian protagonist book.

But she's a horrible MC. At least in the first just-under-100 pages I could get myself to read.
>>
>>2014130
Heh, well, it's comedy, which in my experience is just about the most subjective of all genres.

And I agree she's horrible - that's why the book is so funny, after all (to me, anyways. Although it did drag a bit in the middle). Loved how she almost had a heart attack whenever anyone mentioned "marriage".

(on a side note: I meant "best 'lesbian protagonist' book" not "'best lesbian protagonist' book. Probably not a huge difference but I'd need to think about that first, ha)

>>

>>

Lady Knight is a realistic take on being a woman in medieval times. Therefore not light or happy. Still very well written. Don't think I have a copy I can upload though.

Thirteen Hours

>>
>>2012868
The Traitor Baru really fucked me up senpai.

Highly recommend if you don't mind less than happy endings
>>
>>2017332
I wouldn't really call it realistic. The way arranged marriages work in the setting - which all of the angst and tragedy depends upon - is so nonsensical as to border on inane.
>>
>>2017479
Definitely not a happy end, but an awesome end. iirc there'll be at least a sequel, but personally I'd be content even with just that one book: there's no doubt in my mind that Baru will do what she promised - and that it will be glorious. Well, to those left to tell the tale, ha.

Meanwhile I finished two other recently released fantasy novels:
First Ryan's Clockwork Immortal. It's basically about a bunch if immortals and adventure/mystery. I quite liked the setting, the immortals were fun, and I was curious about the mystery.
Unfortunately like all his books it lacks a bit of polishing and feels a bit rushed at times. Still, it was entertaining enough.

And then Schubach's 2nd Techromancy novel. It's pretty much like the first one - everyone is always happy and teasing each other and such, and then some people get horribly tortured, scarred for life, or outright killed, before everyone's back to being happy and peaceful again, with a few more scars and such.
Similar to Clockwork the writing is pretty basic and a bit rushed, and the plot this time around is really, really straightforward, but I like Laney as a protagonist. She just keeps going, even if at this pace she'll probably be a complete cripple by the fifth book or so. Who cares though, her Celeste doesn't, so she doesn't either ... ;)

Anyways, those are cheap so I'm not too selective, no about ones that aren't so cheap - does anyone have:
Mary Griggs - Bitter Hearts
(Scifi with of course an empath protagonist. Preview seemed OK, but I wonder if it's too stereotypical with that empthy cr...thing)
Meredith Katz - Beauty & Cruelty
(awesome cover and weird idea with fairy tale characters, but I have no idea where it's going)
Alex Powell - Hakusan Angel
(about people who work as batteries or something? I don't think I quite got the preview. And it's only 100 pages, so I'm kinda skeptical)

Just Three Words (Melissa Brayden)
Imagining Reality (Lynn Galli)

These are the ones that spring to mind first, outside of what has already been posted...both of these are part of a series of books about a group of friends.

I also recall one about a contractor/construction worker who doesn't realize that she's in love with her best friend/little sister figure until she thinks she's in love with someone else...and I've read a few books where the MC comes back home and falls in love with their BFF's little sister. Goodreads ratings are deceptive.. I've just finished reading terracota bride,, it's a short story (30) min read but wow.... NTR on top of another NTR.. Good thing it was short that it didnt play with my emotions too much.
>>
>>2021882
>deceptive
That's a funny way of spelling 'pretty much worthless'. Everyone judges according to their own scale, despite there being a suggested one (goodreads' 2 stars is "it was OK", while people give out 2 stars to stories they didn't like).
>>
>>2021610
Best part of the novel. Really liked the whole "I need hugs & orgies" - lizards.
Would've been better if it had concentrated on 3-4 issues or so instead of trying to do everything in one little book though. Ended up being a bit superficial (and with not enough hugs).

Also, meanwhile read:
Mary Griggs - Bitter Hearts
It sucked. It's one of those novels where it doesn't even pay to bother with specific criticism since it's just overall not good.
Shame, the idea was OK.

Meredith Katz - Beauty & Cruelty
That was better. Includes a weird sex scene (it's _Sleeping_ Beauty after all), which in an odd sort of way was probably the highlight of the novel.
Otherwise felt a bit lacking, like so many other lesbians novels. It's ok and all, but just doesn't go the last 15-20% to be actually "good".

I always scroll down to read a random 5 star and 1 star review of any book I check on goodreads. That and the description normally gives me enough info to see if it's a book I wanna read. Not the best option for people who are sensitive to spoilers in reviews though.
>>
>>2022201
I mostly go by what this place recommends.
>>
>>2022201
I tend to ignore 5 stars ones (so basically 95%), but I agree that checking the bad reviews is a good way to actually see what might be the problem with the book.

Then all you need to figure out is whether their complaints matter (ie recently discussed "Long Way to a Small Angry Planet" - not much of an actual plot. Valid complaint, but I like SoL, so I don't mind) or not (same book, and ranting about SJW-PC-bla in reviews. I can see where it's coming from with the book, but when I read about space-lesbians I kinda expect them to be politically correct, so I didn't care quite as much...)

Problem with /u/ ones though is that there often are only very few reviews, and then things can be really hard to guess.

And /rec/s, well, that's pretty hit or miss stuff as well, so not much difference there.
>>
I actually love Goodreads. If you know how to use it, you can find pretty awesome books. Obviously if you choose to read a 5 star book with 20 votes (the author and their friends') and no reviews, then you can't really complain if it's shit.
>>
I only ever read the synopsis. If it sounds dumb, or like it would contain shit I don't want to read about (e.g. rape) I won't read it. If it's not bad, or even intriguing, I'll get it.

Peoples' opinions are just too all over the place, especially on the internet.
>>
>>2022230
Yeah it's a good site. I look at the recommendations I get a lot.
If the synopsis makes the book sound good/interesting/okay/readable, I skim some user reviews and read the preview on amazon for 5 minutes.
By then I can guess if I'll like it.
I only look at the score to gauge popularity.

>>
>>2022915
Reading it now. Liking it but I feel like having four different POV characters and the specific order that it alternates in is a really bad decision, especially since the first book was quite smooth with it's of POV.

>>2022855
The books themselves don't shove it down your throat, but yeah, they do have a "Tumblr-ish" bend to them. I still enjoyed them a lot, especially the second book which has Rowan use her powers more liberally.
>>
>>2022855
It's the same with Baru Comorant - if you read the author's blog you'd think he wrote some essay on homosexual emancipation or something.

Doesn't quite as much emphasize about all the not-so-politically-correct things Baru does ;)

Dragonoak is similar. If you pay attention to it, sure, you'll notice a bit, but if don't, it's just good lesbian fantasy.

And there isn't exactly a huge selection for that.
>>

>>

>>
>>2022961
Well, it's called a blog for a reason.
>>
>>2023049
Mhyes, but I mostly mean his "read along" series, where he explains what he tried to say with certain scenes and lines etc. Which apparently is mostly lecturing about homophobia and such.

Not that I care. Books need a bit of a message, I think, and for lesbian leads the potential "morale" is kinda obvious. I just hate when they start preaching (which neither Baru nor Dragonoak does).

On the topic of emancipation: just read "Surrender Your Heart", classic "rich woman abducts poor students 'cause of love" scenario. It was kinda OK. There's a bit of a plot twist of why the abduction happened that honestly made no sense whatsoever, but I've read worse.

Still, anyone know a similar setting where a sub kidnaps/coerces/... a dom, instead the other way around? Could be amusing, I think.
>>
>>2023051
>but I mostly mean his "read along" series, where he explains what he tried to say with certain scenes and lines
That sounds awful. Why would you want to do that unless you think you failed to convey your points artistically?
>>
>>2023052
I think it's either a ego thing or the fear of not being able to convey what you meant out of low self esteem or lacking experience. Many artists and writers have the urge to explain themselves
>>
>>2023052
>>2023053
Yeah, I think there's certainly elements of both there. A bit of "see how cleverly I foreshadowed this plot twist", but he's also aware of some of the weaknesses of his book and tries explaining those.

I still found it interesting; you don't often get a "behind the scenes" look with books.

Is anyone able to recommend... well how to describe it: I'm not sure if there's a name for it.

Basically there's one really confident character courting another character which is either really shy or who simply isn't sure about being gay, or both. This ideally involves heavy teasing from the confident's side and much blushing from the other. I guess I'm a sucker for these kind of scenarios, but finding them exactly or similar to that has proven to be a challenge somehow.

I would greatly appreciate any help. This thread is great by the way!

So fried green tomatoes is apparently a gay story. Is it just undertones? No kisses just "I love you" and whatnot?

Sort of. The story is written from so many different perspectives that it doesn't revolve around Idgie and Ruth, but it's pretty damn well confirmed. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I typed in the name of a book I was looking for and was surprised the book was listed - for a cost but much cheaper than any price I could find elsewhere.
>>
>>2024057
No, but there are (very few) scenes with shamanism and spiritual stuff, although it's never made clear whether those are actual spirits or just hallucinations iirc.
>>
>>2024057
>>2024148
And "forest people".

If YA is OK, there's Jennie Taylor's "Fairy Queen". dunno if it's just me, but I liked it.

And urban fantansy Schubach's Bridge series. Which like everything Schubach is kinda flawed but having a "troll" protagonist is definitely refreshing, compared to yet another vampire or whatever.

Anyone? I'm interested in this too.

This site is fucking horrendous. I don't have anything against piracy, but they pirate all the books and resell them to idiots -- holy shit.
>>
>>2024236
Yeah honestly, either buy the book from the official source, ie: Amazon. Or pirate it and donate whatever you can to the other, they often have a donation link on their sites.

Something in the Wine by Jae fits I think.
Divine Touched by Cassandra Duffy.

Finally decided to read Baru. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The ending was supreme, it just couldn't be any other way... both of them were magnificent. Great read.
>>
>>2024265
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
>>
>>2024354
I'm reading it at the moment, and so far it's kind of fucking awesome.
>>
>>2012846
So about that "enemy to lovers"-trope... any recommendations? Sounds really interesting.
>>
Is Lady Knight supposed to be a standalone book? I just finished it and it feel like it lacks some closure. A lot of subplots were either rushed or downright dropped by the end.
>>
>>2024394
Please skim through the thread.

I will, sorry.

I'm glad so many people are loving Baru. The ending broke my heart, but it was the only way it could go. I hope the sequel has more offensive accounting.
>>
>>2024236
>>2024263
I totally agree. If you can't afford buying books then pirate them and support the authors by giving them reviews (or buying their books later on when you can afford them). By using these websites you're giving money to someone that doesn't deserve it.
>>
Anyone got a copy of this Baru?
>>
>>2024444
kat.cr does.
>>

Totally blocked from my country
Thanks though

I can sympathize with that. Thankfully, my country is known for circumventing stuff like that, so I rarely have any trouble.
>>
>>2024462
You beautiful human. Thanks so much
>>
>>2024396
I hope for a sequel, but yes, it's standalone as of now.
>>

Well Darkness Embrace and Summoning Shadow has OT3 ending, but no twins though.
>>

I thought Baru lack lesbian romance, the main character being a lesbian is presented more of a struggle in her society than for romance purpose.
>>
After reading One Last Thing by Kim Baldwin, I crave for gender bender genre in lesbian romance any recommendation?
>>
>>2024806
>gender bender
do you mean passing as a man?
More than Paradise (Jennifer Fulton) is the only one that comes to mind.
>>
>>2024714
Well, dang it.

>>2024806
Sword of the Guardian has a female knight living as a man, although her identity isn't exactly a secret; half of the cast knows about it, excluding the main love interest.
Backwards to Oregon is somewhat better in that regard.
>>
>>2024804
What's more romantic than executing your lover and vowing to write her history in the blood of her enemies? Better than roses.
>>
Finished The Night Off by Meghan O'Brien
Wow!the book got me hot and bothered just from few minutes reading
The sex lasted for many chapters
Good for anyone looking for 'fun' reading experience
>>
>>2024988
Not that the book completely lack romance, it's just not enough I guess. Most of the scenes are about her battles and strategic plans.
>>
>>2024916
Thanks I haven't heard of that yet
>>2024924
I read Sword of the Guardian and that was good! Will read Backwards to Oregon thanks.
>>
>>2025250
Yeah, the post wasn't all that serious. When I first rec'd Baru here I'm fairly sure I actually mentioned that romance wasn't the most important aspect of the story.

Which basically is fine with me; there aren't many lesbian protagonist books that aren't one way or another about romance.

And then there's also the thing that while 97% of /u/ lit is supposedly about "romance" it's rarely actually romantic. "lesbian lust" would be a better genre title ...
>>
>>2025283
It's fine, not every book has to be about romance first.
>>
>>2024806
Could you share a link for that one anon?
>>
>>2023232
there is a boom by j. Opyr that's very good
>>
Does anyone have a copy of this book? "Telling Lies Online" by Miranda MacLeod?

A pretty recent publication, but it seems interesting.
>>
>>2024396
I get that feeling from most LJ Baker books I've read. Same thing with Jae. Though they're both excellent authors otherwise.
>>
>>2025428
Really? Jae is pretty good at writing epilogues or short continuations for most of her books.
>>
>>2025430
Yeah, I agree. But pretty much every singular book I've read by her seems to have a really hasty tie-up compared to the pace of the rest of the novel.
>>
>>2025405
I don't recommend that book. The MC's choices made me loathe her and root for a dramatic breakup. It made me feel morally uncomfortable.
>>
>>2025405
The torrent is on kat.cr and like the previous anon said it was crap, I wouldn't waste my time on it.
>>
Hello, I'm pretty new to /u/ literature I have only read 8/10 books so far (not all were my taste though).

I was wondering if I could get some age gap recommendation books (preferably teens/college girls with older girls) and/or what books you would recommend for a newcomer.

Thank you in advance.
>>
Hello everyone! Does anyone of you have Pomegranate by Erzabet Bishop? It seems good and I love myth and magic/fairytale-ish stories
>>
We have any fresh Urban Fantasy or Vanilla Fantasy stories released?
>>
>>2024988
I felt really bad for Tain Hu. If only she could have lived in a more idealist fantasy novel.
>>
>>2025595
>>2025633
That sucks. You guys know of any half-decent straight girl conversion novels?
>>
>>2025675
The Blush Factor, Soul Unique, and some of the Supreme Constellations series by Gun Brooke have the young/old age gap you're looking for. Everything else by Gun Brooke is also age gap even if it isn't that specific range, too.
>>
>>2026091
Are girls really straight in the first place if they get "converted"?
>>
Anyone know where I could found the ruins of us by keira michelle telford ? thanks
>>
>>2026045
Me too! She was my favorite character in the book. All that raw passion and unknown depths. I liked that the romance was so very subtle in the book. Not much in therms of quantity, but one sentence could made my stomach buzzing.
>>
>>2026091
I wouldn't call these "conversions" nor am I going to get into defining sexuality. In these books, one protagonist is presumed straight and/or is in a relationship with a man.

All the Wrong Places (Karin Kallmaker)
Thy Neighbor's Wife
Wild Things (Karin Kallmaker)
In Every Port (Karin Kallmaker) old school
Substitute for Love (Karin Kallmaker)
Painted Moon (Karin Kallmaker)
Saving Grace (Jennifer Fulton)
Devil series (K Simpson)
Forty Love (Diana Simmonds)
Heart Block (Melissa Brayden) - I think, at least
The Price of Salt (Patricia Highsmith) - old school, very good (the movie Carol is based on this novel)
Waltzing at Midnight (Robbi McCoy)
Paperback Romance (Karin Kallmaker)
Worth Every Step (KG MacGregor)
Touch of a Woman (KG MacGregor)
Etched in Shadows (KG MacGregor)

I'd suggest reading the summaries/reviews prior to reading.

I concur, Taking Flight was good. Especially the confession scene.

And I just finished reading Colorblind. I kinda forgave her for that one because these are teenagers, like 16.

What I like about Sierra Maley is that she's good with romantic scenes, and Colorblind has several of them.
>>
>>2026482
I like "gaywakening".
>>
>>2026585
The conclusion of Colorblind was... Well, it hardly did conclude after the climax. That was my issue. Authors seem to have trouble writing a satisfying ending.
>>
>>2023336

>Alison Kane series

Can someone link me to this? For some reason I can't find it through google.
>>
Any novels in which the characters travel the world together, in a normal, fantasy, or scifi setting would be nice.
>>
>>2026946
Starting with greater travel and going now.
Ammonite (Nicola Griffith) the world ain't Earth
Love by the Numbers (Karin Kallmaker)
Worth Every Step (KG MacGregor) - not the world, but there is travel
Finders Keepers (Karin Kallmaker) - same as above

>spoiler
That reminds me, wasn't there a book recently where the protagonists get transported to another planet, or into the future, or something? I swear I made a mental note of trying a book like that once.
>>
>>2026941
Sorry, my mistake, it's "Kaine". Don't think they're on kat separately; they are in the Calibre FF library though.
>>
Are there any books in post-apocalyptic setting with actual survival involved, and not "hey, we're living in a deserted city with radiation levels off the charts, so how about we have a threesome with this dildo we found conveniently lying around"?
>>
>>2027329
Apophis by Eliza Lentzski
>>
>>2027329
Remnant by Kate Genet

First off, I'm only recommending this cause there are no other books I know that fit your requirements, I don't like recommending books I didn't enjoy.
The setting felt too strange (maybe that was the point?) but the survival elements are there, especially in the beginning. Also, protagonist starts off in a het relationship (kind of important for the story later on as well), a heads up in case you don't fancy that.
I don't want to go into too much detail cause spoilers, maybe someone who enjoyed the story more could sell you the book a lot better.
>>
>>2027425
>>2027460
Thank you both, I'll give those a try.

>setting felt too strange
Yeah, I can tell from the premise it's not exactly your usual "something something nuclear winter and now our economy rests on bottlecaps" post-apocalypse. At least it has survival.
