To be honest, Akari Gen clung too much on the first generation of characters, like a crutch in a some way. A lot of people, including me still prefer the original cast and seeing them teased from time to time isn't helping too much. Basically your typical idol anime for young girls that involves lots of cute friendship, stylish outfits and weekly CG singoffs of usually the same song three weeks in a row. The subtext gets pretty heavy at times, particularly during the first season, and they hardly ever touch on het romance (the few times they do it's always a misunderstanding involving cats).
Also freaking Aoi.

If you're new to this thing, it's probably better to take it a few eps at a time rather than marathon it.

It's an Idol Anime aimed at the shoujo demographics but Xtreme'd up for kids (to promote their carddass game).

Instead of putting on clothes, the girls scan cards on a magical machine and then run through it for a instant dress up.

Episode 177 is an enjoyable episode, but if I take into consideration the past seasons, the anime played it safe. Namco cutting off S4 was a major blow to Nono and Risa's development. Personally they didn't even deserve to be in the Queen Cup given at how small their accomplishments were. Watching Nono and Risa ending up in the top 5 was silly.

When I saw they had a male headmaster I was annoyed, but I let it pass given that I don't expect him to be of much significance especially given that the main girl has a rock'n hot female teacher. However, then they throw the stupid boy's school next store crap in the very first episode. Yep. Sunrise in-house CG team is in charge of them now. Samurai Pictures still help them, only the characters model though. As you can see, new team kinda suck with motion and lighting, and unlike previous Aikatsu, the chances of new team improving as the show goes on is almost nil.

Sadly it doesn't work like that. Aikatsu improving their CG was actually a miracle itself. These things rarely happen.
Sunrise's team also have been around for some time, but they have never shown any sign of improvement. Their work on non-living things were pretty bad, and making CG for human characters are even harder than things like cars and robots. There are many reasons why Sunrise outsourced the CG for Akito to Orange instead of letting their team do it. And one of the reason is because their own team suck.

I hope you enjoyed Secret Story ch01, g/u/ys. We're committed to deliver the chapters in a timely manner, but this will affect our doujinshi output. I guess we'll alternate between SS and lewd doujinshi. Maybe I should translate a Yuu doujin. I have 5 Yuu books.

Also I ended up replacing Heroes of the Scans's version at Dynasty (with the mod's consent). I may end up earning enemies here...
