In my opinion King in Yellow is one of the best kigo writers out there. His entire "Best Enemies" series is worth the read. Naturally you should read the fics in order but one of my favorites is "Underwear That's Fun to Wear".

It is entirely possible to keep a character in character while still redeeming them it just takes a skilled writer.
It's funny whenever someone complains about Shego never staying true to who she is in fanfiction no one ever brings up the writers who actually take the time to make her redemption believable.

Usually because if she didn't, her world as she liked it wouldn't be the same (worldwide destruction, etc). Although there were enough instances of her saving/not killing Kim just...well because it's a cartoon, but that can't really be a character's excuse. So Shego never read very evil/villainous to me. Bored coupled with a penchant for destruction, sure. Sadistic? Yeah. Not that she's secretly good inside. I totally buy that as long as she finds it entertaining, ultimately she'd not care which side she's on.

Two of the times in the last season, Shego explicitly joins Kim to protect her. Granted, she does claim she's only doing it so she can kill Kim herself, but she also doesn't make a single credible effort to do so and is actually pretty nice to Kim whenever they meet.

Not that I ever saw. The problem with KiGo is that you've only got three basic stories:
1: Enemies with benefits
2: The Corruption of Kim
3: The Redemption of Shego.
The final episode pretty much kills off the first two.

Well aside from some crushes that Kim has on and off actually not really. Barely there, hence why there is so much KiGo stuff in the first place.
In the third season finale, which was released as a movie I believe, she gets together with Ron. So in Season 4 they are a couple.
Though, and that is also my not-/u/ opnion, Ron and Kim work better as friends.
