I'm glad it's not just me, I end up doing this for every tactical RPG. There's just something sentimental about these totally normal people who joined whatever army for a paycheck and ended up getting swept up into some grand war for the fate of the world or whatever.

Like, it's easy to think Ramza is so brave taking on the world to set things right, but he's a child of a legendary general, raised with the idea that he has great power and a responsibility to use it for good--but then there's Jane the mercenary from some backwater nowhere, charging right alongside him. What's her deal? At first, she does it because she's good with a sword and has to get food on the table SOMEhow, but once she starts being asked to fight demons and undead and god knows what else... it takes an entirely different kind of bravery to be in a situation where you KNOW you're a nobody, and you're in over your head, and you charge in anyway.

Where's my romance story about the background characters in the employ of some plucky hero up to his eyeballs in Magical Destiny Bullshit trying to cope with ordinary people on an extraordinary adventure?

I really like having generics around and imagining what they do as well. In Tactics, in the first battle (and from Chapter 2 onward), you start with Rad/Ladd (depends on what version you're playing), who's just a regular Joe that got hired alongside Ramza and Gaffgarion, and there's Alicia and Lavian, two generic Knights that are Agrias' shield maidens. Apart from getting the Tynar Rouge in the War of the Lions version, there's no real part that they play (although they do happen to be rather popular with the fanbase, strangely enough).

I ship Alicia and Lavian with Celia and Lettie, respectively. Alicia and Lavian are the doms, but the reason why is pretty meta.

Going all 'Sweet Polly Oliver' would have been so much damn fun. I mean, come on, pretty much every female noble in the game is stuck in the house or praying at Church, not doing battle. The closest we have to an exception there is Agrias, but she's not a noble so much as she is an ascetic warrior, raised and trained by the church to use all of those fancy Holy Sword techniques. So, I went and bought the HD remastered collection of X and X-2 yesterday after beating XIII-2 (fuck that ending, man, FUCK IT, NOW I HAVE TO PLAY LIGHTNING RETURNS, MY LIFE WILL BE INCOMPLETE AND UNFULFILLED UNTIL I DO, good thing I ordered it while I was at the store), and so far, the only bad memory that's coming back is the lack of being able to control the camera; I forgot how annoying that can be sometimes.

So, I got to have a go at Lightning Returns a couple days ago, and I must say that I absolutely adore the mechanics of the game (except for the thirteen days bullshit), but even with how willing I am to defend XIII and XIII-2 (really, the only defense that XIII-2 needs is convincing someone that at least watching XIII's cinematics on YouTube or something so that you know what's going on in the sequel is worth it), the writing for LR is just retch-inducing.

All the different garbs looking so cool are at least a plus, but still, holy fuck that's bad.

As for the mention of the C'ieth, I'm actually trying to come up with a way to fit them into Final Fantasy d20; I'm running a campaign set in my own homebrew world, and the largest continent is Gran Pulse, just with some modifications. I always thought the characterisation was the strong part, but I've only played the first game. I liked the gameplay as well though.

The characters that the game tries to focus on the most (Snow, Hope, Lightning, and Vanille) are all irritatingly flawed. Yeah, flaws can help make a character interesting, but they have to be the right kind or flaws, or else they end up just being irritating. Snow was just flat-out bag-of-hammers dumb, kept trying too hard to be everyone's hero, and you could make a drinking game out of every time he yells out Serah's name. Hope was a total pussy who deluded himself into thinking that his mother's death was Snow's fault, and refused to grow up at all for the longest time (he did mature a bit when he could finally summon Alexander, but that was about it). Lightning was unoriginal as all get out, basically being a clone of Cloud when Blondie was keeping up his SOLDIER facade. They did intend for her to be stoic though, so they at least got that right, and she also apparently has feelings for her sister, which happens to be a positive trait on this board. Vanille, like Hope, was also aggravatingly childish, and almost completely refused to grow up. The accent was incredibly fake as well. Even Fang and Sazh have some glaring issues; Fang can't decide whether she's Vanille's friend, sister, or lover, and her being an amnesiac was lazy. Sazh, while probably the most likable of the bunch, suffers from the fact that Japan is very racist, even more so than good ole 'Murrica (although they aren't violent with their racism).

XIII-2 is much more light-hearted, and has a better idea of when to be serious and when to just have fun. However, Caius (BBEG) is something of a rehash, and Lightning's characterization downgrades a bit in there, but Serah's actually rather well-built to help make up for that, and Noel is tragic in the right ways while being something of a smartass at the right times. I won't go into further detail than that, since to explain more would spoil stuff. I highly recommend that game, even if you have to play through XIII first.

Also, I'll tell you that if you liked the gameplay in XIII, you'll probably love how much tighter and streamlined it is in XIII-2. The monster hunting and such in it is really fun if you're into that sort of thing, and being a fan of the Chrono series, I can see it as something of an apologetic love letter to my fellow Chrono fans with how many similarities it has to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Seriously, the only big downsides to it are that you have to go through XIII first and that the ending is set up to make it so you HAVE to buy Lightning Returns. The fic I'm working on is going to ignore the latter.

Thanks! Me, I call this one Perverted Princesses, what with Garnet and Ovelia imagining their knights doing something even lewder than holding hands. I'd originally thought to leave the background for the chibi part either blank or with a simple background of some pale colors, but I decided on putting Alexandria in the background because, honestly, Agrias and Ovelia deserve to be in a more cheerful place than Ivalice, for all that they go through.

I've never played Radiata Stories, but I had a look at Ridley, and that seems like it would be fun. I like to try and draw ladyknights dueling, especially with some sexual tension in the air, so maybe you could have a go at Ridley v. Beatrix to have some practice drawing her in motion?

Radiata Stories is a good game and I'd recommend it to any fan of jrpgs but it's aggressively het with some gay guys sprinkled in.

That said many of the female characters are cute. The only reason I thought of pairing Garnet and Ridley together was cause I had their figures near each other on a shelf. Plus both are prim and proper ladies even if Ridley hefts around a great axe during battle.

When Ridley is at a low level she'd occasionally fall on her bum when swinging her axe it was adorable. That quickly changes when she becomes a knight captain though.

If you're looking for ladyknights in Radiata Stories, keep an eye out for Alicia, Elwen, Nina, and Natalie (who is basically the Beatrix/Agrias to Ridley's Garnet/Ovelia). The Valkyrie Profile games also have a respectable assortment of ladyknights, particularly the second game, and is woefully underrepresented in the yuri category.

Valkyrie is also a hidden character in Radiata Stories and is leagues above any other recruitable character including the mc.

Although besides Ridley, Lily is another one of my favorites. Tight suit, dual wielding swords, delinquent assassin, and dark skin!

Now I'm getting ideas of Ridley and Lily being Garnet's royal guard and trying to out do the other in an attempt to impress/seduce her. This would of course end in a threesome.

As for me, I usually had a party of Zidane, Freya, Amarant, and Quina, who covered nearly everything on her own. It's a shame how aversive this board is to anthro characters, because Freya's a great character, and there's a surprising amount of yuri involving her, especially with Beatrix.

I don't really mind either way, Freya is Freya, and Freya is awesome. While having her be a humanoid is typically more favorable here, I still like the idea of her being an anthro in some cases, if only because of things like imagining her and Beatrix bumping noses a couple times before they manage to kiss properly. The Japanese name for Burmecians is simply "nezumi" - they are rodents of unusual size, plain and simple.

In context, there isn't really anything remarkable about this. After all FFIX is a setting where demihumans are the norm, and about a third of all characters seen on screen are more or less recognizeable anthropomorphic animals.
If I'm not mistaken, it's only ever once throughout the game that someone points out that Freya and her sort are indeed very large people-shaped rats.

For some reason american dubbing studios try to make them sound like the japanese girls, but instead just screw it up by doing so. Also, I really like Tifa's boobs in that pic, they're so dynamic in comarison to the titties I draw when I do lewds. I seem to have that problem with a lot of my stuff, the characters are all so stiff and it's hard to visualize the various parts to be moving. Just means I need to practice.

making an image dynamic is not a skill everyone has, even professionals may lack it.
The problem with it is that normally human bodys are very stiff, but most artists simply ignore that anatomical limit and draw limps and such more flexible.
Such things as boobs are problematic for a completely different reasons. As they are soft due to being almost entirely fat, they are automatically flexible, thus gravity, movement etc. can influence its shape thus making it look dynamic. But if you do it realistically, it would look bad, as we humans started to find stiff boobs attractive due to bras and the likes. Thus finding a balance is difficult. In the pic i posted you can see that tifas boobs have 3 influences on them. 1) Gravity, as the boob that is free clearly is being pushed down from it. 2) The shirt, as both boobs are being pressed together and inside the shirt as much as possible. 3) the boobs each other.
You just need to remember physics and anatomy, plus a TINY bit of creative freedom, and making something dynamic shouldn't be that difficult.(But as i mentioned, even some professional are unable to do it right, no matter how good they become.)

Oh, and lastly, drawing style, as in how you draw the lineart, coloring and special effects, also have an influence over how dynamic your art looks like.
