I don't think the concept of pairings applies to the Yuru Yuri shipping verse, as it's more of a mesh-based shipping. As time goes on, the mesh topology becomes more refined as characters develop interests for each other based on the number of hops required in the mesh structure to reach said other character.

Yui being shippable with Ayano was merely a consequence of Yui being shippable with Kyouko and Ayano being shippable with Kyouko. As time goes on, more ships will start to converge, and by the end of the series, everything will ship equally well with everything else, resulting in a shipping chart topology which resembles your classic everyone-to-everyone mesh network.

Could just be a gag on how Sakurako and Kyouko are similar and thus both eat Ayano's puddings, as opposed to actual shipping.

After all, the only difference between Kyouko and Sakurako is that Sakurako freely shows that she has no regard for others, whereas Kyouko just acts in a way that makes it hard to judge her by normal standards.

I like the way possible relationships are hinted at with different pairings. Every character has a 'main pairing' but there's occasional chapters that just give you an idea of what it would be like if two unusually paired characters were paired together, like Saku x Ayano or Akari x Yui. Those characters still have their 'main' partners but it's enough to give fans ideas.

I think if any two characters do end up together it would be Sakurako and Himawari. Neither of them are shipped (much) with anyone else and it's the only pairing I can think of that would make fans happy without pissing off an equally large number of other fans.

Even the anime had scenes. Like Kyouko getting hella irritated and pissed off when Yui gave Chinatsu a kiss on the cheek as a white-day return gift or something.

Of course if you REALLY wanna try hard and ignore the actual reason, you could try and twist it like she got like that because Yui got to do that with Chinatsu and not her. But that's silly. Those were some true emotions bursting out of Kyouko, which happens incredibly rare. And her liking Chinatsu doesn't go that far.


In all honesty, if someone would ever make and actual move on Yui and she'd sort of reciprocate, you'd get a veeery different Kyouko. Would be something for one of those troll episodes next season, we most likely get again. Kyouko turning yandere and given us a nice yuri boat.

On a more serious note, one of the reasons Yuru Yuri is so popular is that the author manages to make a funny slice of life while only sometimes adding just enough material to let its fans ship everything by themselves, without downright making official couples; its a delicate balance, but one that earns it an audience within those that like yuri and those that simply like cute girls. As such, no couples are 100% canon, although, due to the amount of screentime they get together, Himawari and Sakurako are the most undisputed.
Due to the direction this series is taking, it's unlikely it will finish with even a single serious kiss. However, fans have taken care of that. Secret Flowers should sate your thirst for HimaSaku.

HimaSaku is good and I really like Ayano with Chitose. Any manga readers want to tell me if there's still all these unrequited crushes in the latest chapters? I just watched the two new OVAs and they were pretty good except for most of the Chinatsu moments.

Also, Goyac better be working on another Seceret Flowers. I've read the latest one but I need more cunnilingus with these two. The third one is still the best.

Chitose is pretty much the same but it's less constant, she has more character outside of her crush on Yui now, even if the way she approaches Yui hasn't really changed.

I don't actually know if I'll even watch S3 specifically because the animation style is so different. And because I'm caught up on the manga.

I know what you mean though, the first two seasons definitely feel like a cartoon. The new style is so much more mellow, which isn't necessarily bad but unless they switch back and forth between those styles it wont feel the same at all to me.

It's just a type of aesthetic, not a gender preference. Chinatsu is very aware she's a lesbian, she even wonders about whether it's okay onscreen (during her date with Yui) and comes to the conclusion that she's fine with it.

It's like saying "I prefer blondes" or "I like girls with long hair". It doesn't mean she likes guys, she just likes girls who are the cool, strong, confident, silent, etc. type as opposed to someone like Kyouko, who's the flirtatious, extrovert, aggressive, etc. type.

Also, you realize that there are real-life lesbians with similar preferences, right? Even ones who have never slept with a man and don't want to do so in the future.

I am 100% fine with these gags. Chinatsu is tied as my favorite character with Ayano and if it wasn't for these two YuruYuri would be significantly lacking in Yuri. I would also honestly say that to me Chinatsu is probably the funniest and most unique of all of the four main girls.

To be fair, they've gotten a lot less common. There's as much more to Sakurako than boob jokes as there is more to Chinatsu than YUI SEMPAI moments.

I'm kind of surprised by all the hate Chinatsu gets too though. She's not my favorite character, but she's consistently pretty funny. I still think the time she kissraped Akari is one of the best moments in the series.
