Ivy goes with anything in the game that has a vagina, now even more than ever, because we know that she's not going to just die off like she thought she would with the artificial soul in IV, so she's going to be an immortal cougar forever. She also doesn't have all of the Soul Edge taint out of her, so she still has to stick with people who won't spread it around.

I would have to say it wouldn't surprise me if there was some level of attraction between Tira and Pyrrha; Tira's the only person who doesn't die or try to kill her from Pyrrha's perspective before her brother gets over his heebie-jeebies about her monster arm and Tira is pretty clearly trying to make Pyrrha into a substitute for her old boyfriend (sorry, "master") because she doesn't like the current model.

I see Ivy as a lesbian naturally, but it is also one of the only solutions for her to be with someone without spreading the cursed blood. I like her with Talim just because they contrast each other so well (and I sorta like the image of Ivy playfully humoring being Talim's first crush when she's 17 only to fall hard for her when she sees her again at age 34 in SCV's time), but like you said, Ivy goes with pretty much any girl in the game. If we're including one-shot characters of dubious canon status, Valeria from 3 always struck me as a good match for her, too.

As much as I adore Soul Calibur /u/, I gotta admit I still think Hilde belongs with Siegfried.

Actually, I'd say that both of them are bi; Siegfried's spent most of his youth with the Schwarzwind, leading a bunch of other big warrior guys, and if you have nothing but a bunch of other men around you, your tastes may... mature. Probably a similar situation with Hilde, being a princess and all, she was probably surrounded by other women for the majority of her younger years.

Especially Siegfried, though. Just look at Z.W.E.I., there's no way that Siggy hasn't tapped an ass that damn gay.

As for Tira, yeah, that's pretty much exactly how the situation is described. The reason why Nightmare is the way he is though is because that's Raphael's body. The Raphael that you fight and/or play as is his ghost, able to manifest solidly through sheer willpower. It would also explain his single-minded obsession with Amy/Viola, since spirits aren't known for veering from their goals. It also explains why Nightmare now wants to take over the world instead of eliminating all life, because Soul Edge is in a relatively weakened state from being smashed again by Siegfried at the end of IV, and thereby more influenced by the wants of the body it possesses. It's still yandere for Siegfried, though.

And the Ivy/Talim thing does make sense. Pretty much every relationship that Ivy gets into is going to be a sad one though, since she'd going to outlive just about everybody. I'd love to see her, Zasalamel, and probably Maxi make cameos in a Tekken game. Zasalamel especially, they even have him as a modern multi-billionaire kind of guy in his ending for IV.

To be fair, there is apparently at least one woman in the Schwarzwind, Siegfried's second-in-command Salia. Apparently she's the leader of the group in his absence and has a thing for him, but since she's only been a sideline character so far...I would say your assessment probably isn't that far off.

Yeah, I remember that Nightmare still imitates Siegfried's form with Raphael's body because that's "the form the sword desires". Siegfried is the one that got away for Inferno.

...I'm imagining Soul Edge taking full control for a bit if Pyrrha Ω ever encountered Siegfried, since it's got an attractive female host it can voice its desires with now. *shudder*

And yeah, Ivy's pretty much destined for suffering yuri unless there's another chick who becomes untouched by time in the Soul Series at some point. Although it's possible Tira's body doesn't age anymore from how badly she's been corrupted, either, although that's not great news for Ivy.

If Pyrrha being a host means her body won't age properly either comes into play (she's got as much or more of the sword's power in her than Maxi does, after all) then Tira and Pyrrha might have an eternity to try and work things out...

Tira probably wouldn't be too much trouble for Ivy, actually; we all know that, deep down, Tira's a sub and always will be, albeit a very conniving and manipulative one. It would probably be more like having a spoiled girlfriend who doesn't take no for an answer and puts forth effort to get what she wants, but in the end still bends over for her mistress.

Honestly, I think the hardest part for Ivy to handle would be Tira's penchant for murder, although Tira might do it as a way to try and set Ivy off. Isabella being so strong-willed and domineering would be a reminder that, even if she's more human than not, Ivy still carries part of her former master in her, which would probably make Ivy seem that much more attractive, to the point that she might even see the Englishwoman as an idol nearly as worthy of worship as Soul Edge. Each time she draws out that anger, she could see Soul Edge reflected in it, which would likely make her hornier than a fourteen year-old boy surrounded by naked porn stars.

Potential suitors for Ivy that she won't have to watch die would probably consist of Tira, Pyrrha, and Elysium, with some others who are borderline cases.

Elysium is actually one of my favorite crackships for Ivy. It could go something like when Ivy does the spell to activate the sacred treasures (and with them, Soul Calibur), Elysium contacts Ivy instead, and promises her a cleansed soul and undying love if she takes up the mantle of the one who wields the spirit sword, using affection to manipulate Ivy into doing her bidding, much like with Patroklos, but with less Oedipus complex involved. Whether Ivy manages to will Elysium into complacency, perhaps by somehow fusing Soul Calibur and Valentine (which carries some of Soul Edge's energy after being touched by Nightmare), would be up for debate, but I imagine it might work out, the taint of Soul Edge from Valentine keeping Elysium's sheer power in check, but not silencing her like the Soul Embrace did in III.

Viola's an interesting one, if you ask me, and has some room for /u/ apart from Hilde. Amy was somewhat popular to ship with Talim or Tira back in the III-IV days, and considering that they lay it out for you (even if they don't outright say it) that Viola = Amy, those ships could sail with Viola as well. If she's made immortal by the same taint that turned her and Raphael into pseudo-vampires, then that means she's a possible mate for Ivy on top of all that.

Something I've been wondering about is what Hilde's two children are like, as well as how old they are. My headcanon is that she and Siegfried got bizz-ayy pretty much as soon as IV was over, although they never state who their father actually is, and so they're about as old as, say, Xiba or Leixia, and have already taken to developing a fighting style of their own. Headcanon states that the older one is a girl named Erma (strawberry blond with waves like her mother, but Daddy's eyes), who fights with a longsword in something like a cross between Mitsurugi and Siegfried, a lot of hard swings and mobility, but with less of the finesse that Mitsurugi has. The younger sibling would be a boy named Beringar (brown-eyed redhead who can't make his hair behave to save his life), and do spear and shield fighting, kind of a hybrid of Cassandra and Hilde, really defense-oriented with a bunch of stick-and-move tactics.

...Seeing Hilde give warnings to Erma about a silver-haired witch who'll come and take her away if she wanders away on her own amuses me to no end.

Can't find it, nah. That really sucks, because Mileena goes surprisingly well with a lot of different girls. I think it was at the end of Deception that they had her, Kitana, and Jade on a sort of Charlie's Angels team, since Mileena and Sindel weren't under Shao Khan's thumb anymore.

Speaking of MK, I really wish that Frost and Human!Smoke were playable in X, they've only got cameos at this point. Maybe as DLC later on.

I also seem to remember SCV's commentary on Ivy indicating they wanted her to be a mother figure to some of the younger fighters. Ever since then I've been rather attached to the idea of Ivy taking Pyrrha in on the basis that Pyrrha is uncomfortably similar to her on a biological level (both were exposed to the energies of Soul Edge from birth, to the point both are probably "Evil Sword" bloodtypes post-V, and Pyrrha's womb is likely just as much a spawning ground for new Nightmares as Ivy's at this point) and wants someone to want her around more than anything.

Now I've got this image in my head of Ivy and Tira as Pyrrha's adoptive moms, and Ivy having to deal with the fact that her lover needs more scolding and discipline to keep in line than their adopted kid does.

Ivy being a matron like that is a really awesome idea, seriously. God help the kids if they don't behave, and not even God could save those who try to fuck with them, if such things ever came to be.

Honestly, Ivy kind of reminds me of Deathstroke from DCU in that messing with her or the few things about which she cares dearly is one of the top ten ways to get your ass buried in a six-foot hole, because your ass would be the biggest bit left of you they could find.

I really wish that the side characters were more popular, because then we'd get a bunch more alternate art with them. Imagine seeing, say, a female Bangoo with a giant axe over her shoulder hitting on some of the other girls.

I'm a fan of exploring a softer side to Ivy. I always liked the idea of her developing an odd inter generational friendship with Talim, first being the gruff, aloof veteran fighter telling the good-natured kid who wants to do good to go home before she gets herself killed but coming to respect Talim's pure-hearted outlook and her fighting skills while Talim comes to look up to Ivy while seeing more good in her than Ivy sees in herself. I waffle regularly on whether I prefer them having a big sister/little sister relationship or if they fall in love when Ivy's ageless thing causes Talim to catch up to her physically.

Ivy being a surrogate mother figure for Pyrrha just...appeals to me, regardless of what yuri context I frame it in. Whether she's got Talim as her "better half" or wins the respect and submission of Tira or something else entirely, I like the possible dynamics Ivy taking Pyrrha under her wing opens up. I particularly like the idea of Pyrrha being the point of agreement between Ivy and Tira; without her around, they'd probably have been mortal enemies forever, but Tira loves Pyrrha, in her own strange way, and once Ivy takes Pyrrha in she can empathize with her and observe more to Tira than someone devoted to the force she's dedicated her life to destroying, and things can go from there, leaving Phyrra with two adoptive moms that aren't exactly sunshine and rainbows as a couple but will be on the same page in an instant when it comes to raining fire down on the heads of anyone that tries to hurt Pyrrha.

I also like the Talim/Ivy angle where the two of them, after Ivy's made peace that it's doubly impossible for her to ever have kids since she's not willing and Talim's not able, suddenly have Pyrrha to look after. Partially because I imagine Adult!Talim leaping at the idea of being a mom, and just burying Pyrrha in love, which Pyrrha has no idea what to do with but doesn't want her to stop.

I might actually write that at some point, now that I think abut it. The fight that would inevitably come to pass would be an interesting one, since while Pyrrha would be out of her league, by a league, if she was to ever try and fight him on her own, but with both Soul Edge backing her up and that Siegfried would likely pull his punches (even if she's malfested, she's still a young girl, and his goal would likely prioritize destroying Soul Edge than killing her), things would suddenly get much more difficult.

Wasn't Soul Edge also female for awhile? Like, up until IV (where it was complete only for a short time)? It would be pretty funny and hot for Tira to realize she'd been lusting over a 'woman' in the first place.

From what I can understand, Soul Edge is both male and female. When it was incarnated as twin swords, the larger of the two was Soul Edge (Male) and the smaller Soul Edge (Female). After Cervantes' demise, the sword he retained was the female half of Soul Edge, while the "iconic" version of Soul Edge Nightmare uses in Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur II is the male half. I believe most if not all of the Soul Edge Shards (including the one that Sophitia carried in her heart when she gave birth to her children and tore out to merge with Pyrrha to save her life at the end of IV) were from the female half, which Sophitia shattered at the end of Soul Edge.

However, Soul Edge absorbed Cervantes's half back into itself and became one nearly complete weapon in IV, comprised of both swords combined into one. Presumably the weapon Nightmare uses in V is similarly both halves of the sword merged into the form it desires, still not letting go of its obsession with Siegfried. So the sword is both male and female in more or less equal measure. 95% sure the shard that fused with Pyrrha and allowed her to transform into Pyrrha Ω is from Soul Edge's female half, however.

None of this probably mattered to Tira, whose attachment to Soul Edge was mostly about it being the only thing she ever felt was a kindred spirit to herself.

If Tira ever empathized with someone else, it's likely she would feel a similar love for them, regardless of gender.

As much as I might love yuri (even siscon is okay with me, despite me otherwise not being much for incest), I really hate all the flak that Rothion caught just because he was 'in the way' of their ship. He was an awesome guy, and was willing to put up with all the crap that Hephaestus kept loading onto his wife and sister-in-law, just fixing their stuff and taking care of the children as best as he could until Sophitia died and Tira stole Pyrrha away. The grief alone would have killed me long before it took him.

Honestly, I think he'd probably be okay with Sophitia being with another woman, considering it's a need that he, as a husband, simply couldn't satisfy. I'd once even thought up that the two of them got married because they're both gay, and decided to use their marriage and kids as a coverup for their actual sex lives. Great people, great friends, just not that great of luck.

Ivy subbing is always fun to imagine.

I kinda like the idea of Talim having a schoolgirl crush on Ivy when they meet briefly pre-timeskip. She's a little too young for Ivy, but Ivy does think she's cute and playfully gives Talim what turns out to be her first kiss before they part ways for many years.

Fast forward across the 17-year time gap, and they meet up again. Ivy's still physically the same 32-year-old hottie she's been for the last couple games even though her actual age is closer to 50, but Talim's grown from a cute young woman to an 11/10 34-year-old woman, tall, fit, gorgeous, and confident. Ivy's a little wrong-footed and flustered seeing the "little girl" she remembers all grown up, and never quite recovers the initiative.

As for Ivy, while she fucked up and fucked up BADLY when she was working with Nightmare, she's since been trying to make amends by destroying Soul Edge once and for all, and honestly she's way less indiscriminate in how she goes about that than Taki got towards the end. EVERYONE is a target for Taki in IV.

Considering the Siegfried isn't possessed by Soul Calibur anymore, Taki has no reason to go after him.

In regards to Pyrrha, Taki has always be a character who does what she thinks is right, no matter how hard it is, but she isn't merciless or fanatical. If she thinks there is a way to save Pyrrha rather than killing her, she'll take it. Funnily enough, the only picture of the two of them together put out by Bamco has Pyrrha cuddling up to Taki (even though it's just a slapped together promo image).

"Astral Chaos" seems to be a big maguffin that Project Soul set up so they might use it to bring back anyone.

Certainly it has been used to justify how Cassandra may someday reappear, completely unaged since she was in a time/space abyss the moment IV ended and is now roughly the same age as her niece and nephew. Sophitia would also be closer to Patroklos and Pyrrha's big sister than their mother age-wise if she returns from beyond.

...Although since death has done her and Rothion part by canon, Sophie coming back to life does put Sophitia/Tira and Sophitia/Silver Foxy Taki back on the table.

Although Tira/Pyrrha is still the best yuri ship for me, and mommy coming back to discover her baby girl is all grown up and in a dysfunctional relationship with her archnemesis could be a hysterical twist on that.

The English and French have hated each other more than America hates terrorists, and they've hated each other for centuries longer than we've been around, so the potential for "My enemy's not supposed to be this cute!" is abound.
