Civil War is probably the best historical documentary made, and I think it should be required watching for all Americans. But I found Burns last few docs on the Roosevelts to be kind of shitty and his democrat biased seeped through too much.

Just finished. A lot of insight into the man himself as a person, how his docs are made, how he works, his history, technical aspects of filming, history. All kinds of shit. The thing that still stands out for me though is

I read a lot of history books and those are my favorite. The ones that just tell what happened and don't inject it with a ton of personal opinion. Considers all sides and just says it happened the way it happened. Doesn't inject a ton of personal opinion and bias, just tell it like it is. Makes me have high hopes for this series.

I also like the bit about filming photos. It takes a special talent to be able to film still photos and make it interesting.

I also like the New Yorker because I had to look up multiple words to see what they mean.

Anyways thanks for sharing that, enjoy the series and hopefully we can have some serious discussions in these threads without too much bullshit.

I got it for 5 bux off the discount table from the bookstore because it had an ink stain on the bottom. Great buy.
