Roland Tembo is the best character in the Jurassic Park film series, prove me wrong.
>>
>>87799556
he's bald
>>
>>87799556
I find this so comfy, I wish Hammond wouldve done it
>>
>>87799647
>>
>>87799647
The island idea they initially tried in the first film was much better
>>
>>87799556
he literally did nothing wrong and stupid fucking liberals got him and many other people murdered for no good reason
>>
>>87799719
Roland survived. Ajay was killed, which affected him deeply though.
>>
>>87799747
>>87799719
The thing about Ajay is that many of his scenes were deleted, so if you werent paying attention you wouldnt think he was rolands best friend and right hand man

watch the deelted scene where ajay tells him about Ingens offer. if they kept that, his death whouldve made more impact
>>
>>87799719
I re-watched the TLW last night for the first time in about ten years. Dr. Sarah Hardin and Nick Van Owen were complete retards to be honest, I rolled my eyes so hard when they took the baby T-Rex back to their truck.

The only "good" guys in this movie were Roland Tembo and arguably Dr. Ian Malcolm who was pretty sensible and thought it was retarded to even be on the island.
>>
>>87799785
I don't own it on DVD, are the deleted scenes on YouTube or something?
>>
>>87799719
Dr Harding walking around with the shirt with baby T-Rex blood on it was so fucking stupid, she's supposed to be experienced with this shit yet she makes amateur mistakes all the time and got lots of people needlessly killed.

None of that would have happened if they just let Tembo do his job and stayed the fuck away.
>>
>>87799917

The Lost World had such a good soundtrack.
>>
>>87800706
I like how in that scene Nick is all of a sudden bothered about human life after releasing all those dangerous animals in the middle of their camp.
>>
>>87800755
TLW soundtrack is great senpai, there's a lot of problems with it and it is a weaker film compared to the first one but they nailed that aspect of it perfectly.

The Lost World sets it up to sympathise with Harding and Van Owen's side of it but honestly only Roland had the right idea, they are dangerous animals and unless you respect them like he does you will end up dead.
>muh animal rights
They belong to InGen are are regarded as being freaks of nature, no doubt Isla Sorna is populated with endangered or even unique native species so controlling their numbers at the very least is important. Of course InGen had their ulterior motive.

>Tembo could've saved a lot of people if the "good guys" didn't steal his ammo
>>
>>87802026
Tembo literally had a head shot lined up with a big game gun on that T-Rex and could have ended the problem there and then but Nick had to be a fucking retard again.
>>
>>87800769

This film redpilled the fuck out of me.

The liberal characters were repulsive dumbass hypocrites.

Every time I see Vince Vaughan I have a residual hate for his character from this film, even though he's not a Liberal irl.
>>
>>87802383
Same, the "good guys" in this movie are idiots who caused more problems than they solved with their idealism. In comparison Tembo respected these animals, he knows how dangerous they are and that he may have to kill them and is prepared to.

I'm curious, is this an accurate relflection of the book by Michael Crichton it was based on? You could hardly describe Crichton as a liberal.

Vince Vaughn is a cool guy irl, nothing like his character in TLW.
>>
>>87802530
The book is very different from the movie. I don't remember much about it anymore but I remember thinking it wasn't very good at the time.
>>
I liked how Malcolm and Tembo were apparently the only characters with common sense in the whole film

>>

I need to read the books I tend to like Crichton's work, if his idea was to show in TLW that liberal idealism is sometimes retarded he certainly did a good job of it.
>>
>>87802530
I dont remember because its been so long but I do remember that the book and movie are so different that something like that wouldnt even come up.

What did they mean by this?
>>
>>87802758
The JP novels are pretty fun reads. Very different from the movies. The third movie is basically made up of a bunch of scenes from the books that were cut from the first two movies.
>>
>>87802944
Vince was wanting to expose those hippies for their hypocrisy
>>
>>87803279
Vince is based as fuck in real life, wouldn't surprise me to be honest.
>>

Interesting, the third movie was ok-ish. It was nice to see Sam Neill again who elevated pretty much anything he is in.

Though he was younger then so could have fallen for the bs, or he was trying to be a bigger name and being in a Spielberg movie is a good way to do that

If only Eddie had survived, that scene where he tries to stop the trailer from falling off the cliff is so good. If it wasn't for Dr. Harding and Nick he wouldn't have been a light snack for a pair of T-rex.

so if Nedry managed to find the east dock, he would've just dropped off the embryos for his Biosyn contact and then returned to the control room to reset things right?
>>
>>87803556
Jurassic Park and The Lost World used CGI when it was appropriate, it worked well. Animatronics is superior in every way though.

Ingen would have opened a game park for hunting eventually, right? What if there was a movie about a hunting expedition into the park to try and bag the big 3 of dino predators: velociraptor, spinosaurus, and t rex. Would you guys watch it?

Nope, he'd have left with the boat. He had to turn off the fences, he must have known that would be discovered quickly, and the storm meant the island would be out of contact with the mainland until he'd made off clean.

the gymnastics kick scene was so cringe
>>
>>87803658
Nah he intended to leave with the boat, theres legit no reason for him to go back since its quite obvious to everyone there hes the cause of the fences going down.
I guess he assumed the storm/dinos would kill everyone so nobody would ever find out what he did.
>>
>>87803803
Yeah the girl kicking the raptor was cringey and totally out of character for the rest of the film. The raptor would have torn her to pieces.
>>
>>87803658
according to the book his only job was to drop off the embryos. He only turned off the power to the fences so he could get into the cold storage and also create a distraction. The plan was never to destroy the park.
>>
How would the first movie had turned out if Roland was there to team up with Muldoon?
>>
>>87803834
I don't think he was a saboteur, just a short sighted opportunist. He had absolutely no reason to go back though, since he obviously thought his paycheck wasn't worth shit and he's only in it for himself.
>>
>>87803750
I can't read about paleontologist without regreting of not becoming one. Digging bones in the desert in the middle of fucking nowhere, comfy af.
>>

I think that(besides the initial Trex attack in JP1) LW has more fun dinosaur attack scenes and a lot of fun characters.
But JP1 is still just so much better, it has that sense of wonder and amazement that all its sequels were never able to capture.
LW is still really good and a completely underrated sequel but it does not hold a candle to the original.

predators would try to kill anything they could reasonably kill, if they encountered resistance if they possessed intelligence they would back off and never try again or they would keep trying and eventually get killed off

herbivores would herbivore and be skiddish as is their way
>>
Did anyone watch The Making of Jurassic Park?
>>
>>87802530
Book is very different. The ingen expedition is all of 3 guys. Roland doesn't exist. Malcolm spends most of the story doped up. The ingen guys pretty much die due to their own dumb. The trex shipping never happens, book ends when Malcolm and the others leave in a boat.
>>
>>87803658

in the book that was exactly what he planned, but the storm messed everything up
>>
>>87803008
I think the changes they did for the movie worked out for the better, at least in JP1

Movie Hammond is likeable, which made the introduction to the island great and super comfy. Book Lex was really annoying and nearly got people killed. Glad they gave her something to do in the movie at least.
>>
>>87804322
>predators would try to kill anything they could reasonably kill
Maybe. I don't know that much about reptile or bird behavior but I know that mammalian predators can form close bonds with their trainers/caretakers: https://youtube.com/watch?v=l22XTZUfO2U

One of the few things I liked about JW was them exploring that aspect of the animals' behavior, so it would be cool to see more of it
>>
>>87804660
In the books at least, the Raptors are socially mal-adjusted. Grant theorizes that their original, pre-historic brains and social structure was too complex for Instinct alone to teach them how to act, they actually needed adult Raptors to teach them to be civil. His description of them is "angry, confused teenagers".

He did he have to shut off all the power in the park to steal the embryos? In the movie I think there was some electric fenced areas he had to pass through in his jeep to get to the boat...which doesn't make sense from a park planning perspective.

So then that makes me wonder..why did he have to turn off all the fences and not just teh couple in his way, we know he left the raptor fences on at least..

All you have to do is sign the checks, tell us we're doing a good job, and open your case of scotch when we have a good day. Second condition: my fee? You can keep it. All I want in return for my services is the right to hunt one of the tyrannosaurs. A male, a buck only. How and when is my business. Now if you don't like either of those conditions, you're on your own. So go ahead, set up base camp right here, or in a swamp, or in the middle of a Rex nest for all I care. Sam Neill has the same quality that Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing had. Even though they were starring in B-movie horror flicks, they were able to elevate those films into something that is still enjoyable to watch to this day.

In hindsight it was pretty retarded, he was too much of an idealist to be running a park filled with vicious animals that can tear a human apart with ease.

Its so telling. The movie wants you to side with the fucking liberals and as a kid when I watched it first I did just that. Forward past all these years and god I can't believe I had any sympathy towards the main cast who were quite frankly just fucking eco-terrrorists posing as liberals.

That entire scene is a good example of how CGI can compliment a movie tastefully, JP1 and TLW did this well. Animatronics were still the main driving force and honestly it looks better. Sadly something a lot of modern movies miss now.

>>
>>87812371
CGI animation was very good in these movies. I know the gif has a lot of lost frames but still. They were rarely too fluid which is often the case with fully cgi creatures..
>>
>>87812489
It has aged well, it looks better than a lot of the CGI you seen in modern movies. I'd say the same about JP1 as well.

Why did the makers of Jurassic World think they could get away with using so much CGI in daytime scenes? It only looks good in darkness and rain.

>>
>>87812371
So did the T-rex rip him in half or just tear off his pants?
>>
>>87801885
Yes, because he didn't think the raptors should even exist, and understood they were going to be a problem eventually, and did the job to try and save lives.
Roland wanted the ultimate trophy hunt, and didn't give a fuck about anything else.
>>
>>87813004
they raped him
>>
>>87813069
Not really, Roland never went out of his way to find the male T-Rex, only after his men have captured the dinosaurs they were being paid to do and set up camp he goes with Ajay to find the Rex's nest.
>>
>>87802530
The second movie is loosely based on the book. The only parts that are in the book are the scenes with the baby t-rex, everything else is different. There were two kids on the island in the book, not the virtue signalling black daughter of Malcoms.
I would argue the movie is a better story - the T-rex loose in LA is alone better.
>>
>>87803750
Dragon's Teeth has nothing to do with the Jurassic Park scenario, it's a historical fiction about the origins of paleontology. It's okay. There's a reason he didn't publish it when he was alive, it's not his best work.
But that didn't stop the book publisher from putting a cover on it that makes it look like the Jurassic Park cover, the fuckers.
>>
>>87803863
He probably thought the whole "the dinos can't survive off the island because they don't get food with an additive in it" which the movie didn't get into.
>>
>>87803944
Also, I don't think his plan involved a storm, and one bad enough to evacuate. If there had been no storm, no problem.
>>
>>87813502
the movie does mention that though
>>
>>87813332
Pretty sure the book was rushed so it's no wonder practically everything but the island was dropped.
>>
>>87807718
Harrison Ford would've been nice too but I just can't imagine what it would be like without it being a radically different movie. There's a reason Sam Neill is known as "the guy from Jurassic Park."
>>
>>87808408
It's not. It's hot, sweaty, lots of bugs and sharp pointy plants, and lava rock everywhere cutting your ankles and feet. It's miserable away from the shoreline.
In the cities, it's worse - it's one big ghetto outside of the tourist areas, drugs and crack head Samoans everywhere. I know two people who grew up in Hawaii, and neither one wants to go back now they escaped.

>Also, I don't think his plan involved a storm, and one bad enough to evacuate. If there had been no storm, no problem.

This. Also it is unclear if he knew about the visitors, which would have caused some extra hassle in the control room even without the storm.

That's because he gets down into the role, and doesn't feel embarrassed or awkward, like when he's hugging the dinosaur. He's not a stuck up method actor who's all prissy about motivation and shit, he's like "Yeah, if this were real, and I was a paleontologist, I'd cum in my pants and try to hump one" - and plays it like that.
He's fucking awesome. Laura Dern is great like that, too - Annette Otoole, not so much, I just didn't buy her role as a scientist.

Roland didn't go off for his trophy, because he got a little sidetracked with little problems, like everyone BEING EATEN.

You sound like you have a case of nostalgia bias. The CGI in JP and TLM is showing its age. The practicals are very stiff and not fluid. There were also a dozen scenes in both movies with CGI in daylight. The Brachosaur, the stamped and round up the kitchen scene

In the books being killed by them makes much more sense than in the movie.

They inject venom that numbs you and acts as a tranquilizer, and you get eaten alive not only while awake, but feeling bliss and happiness.
