Am I missing something here?
This movie is awful, it's on of the worst movies I have ever seen. All my friends and coworkers who watched it also think that it's shit (some of them even left the theater halfway through the movie because how bored they were).

YET

everywhere I go online, people are praising it and calling it the best horror movie ever.

What's going on?
>>

Despite the metric fuck ton of jump scares it wasnt really a frightening movie for the most part.
Pennywise was really only terryfing in his very first scene with Georgie. The only scares that worked were the ones when Pennywise was the painting lady because it was the only straight up scary thing in the whole movie.
The projector scene was alright, not because of the heavily telegraphed jump but because it was really unexpected that he would attack them as a fucking giant.
The Deadlights were great as well but thats not much of a scary moment either and i dont think it was really supposed to be.
So despite its shortcomings in the terror and fear department it excelled as an adventure movie starring kids fighting a monster.

It's because people don't watch horror for complex storytelling. Just for cheap jumpscares and shit acting. so it's a 11/10 shitflick for 'having a good time cucks and normies'.
>>
>People who criticize the clown for being inefficient

Do you not get it? He's an evil supernatural entity that feeds off fear and weakness, he's literally the physical manifestation of evil. He can easily torment and tear these people to pieces at any time but he's juicing them up so they can nurish him more when he devours them. He's actually pretty lethal if pushed into a corner and he needs to lash out violently, as evidence by him maiming all those kids and almost instantly killing them but getting distracted by another one hitting him or something.
>>
10/10 acting
0/10 cgi
2/10 editing

fell pretty flat imho, Bowers two bully scenes were the most intense parts of the flick
>>
>>87754972
look how cool you are for being part of the mass culture of mongoloids that wouldn't know a good film if it bit you in the ass, IT was a cheap cgi slasher, stop acting like this flick is the second coming of christ.

ebin
>>
>>87757123
>IT was a cheap cgi slasher

Literally the exact opposite of the film.
>>
>>87757123

The whole movie was practically based around the characters and their interactions with eachother. The whole movie was carried solely on the abilities of the actors which is the complete opposite of a "CGI slasher". The monster itself took up almost no screentime in terms of the length of the movie. What you've described is complete nonsense and I doubt you even saw it.
>>
>>87757706
>film
lol
>>
>>87757950
>retard

>>
One problem I had is most of the kids were really underdeveloped. Only Richie (the kid from Stranger Things) and Bev really stood out. The older film did a better job setting up the kids and their relationships/interactions. I felt some of the more horror stuff felt a little tacked on and actually the movie might have been stronger if it was PG-13 and focused less on scares and more on childhood adventures.
>>
>>87757706
>group of scared kids
>they wander off one by one conveniently

>>
>>87758215
>telling someone in /tv/ to read a book

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>87754648
It is a very scary movie. From the moment the movie started I kept getting scared and each passing minute of the two hour running time I got scareder and more scareder.
I haven't slept for a week in fear that Pennywise, the most mental and scariest monster I have ever seen will take me. I am scared right now you guys. Really scared. Don't see this new IT movie, it is THAT scary.
>>
>>87758249
Also I thought the end of the original (part 1) with the silver bullets and inhaler "battery acid" was better than the kids just beating the shit out of Pennywise with pipes and the Anton Chigurh gun.
>>
>>87758249

All of the losers in the mini-series were interchangeable with nothing to set them apart aside from physical differences. The newer film did a much better job of explaining their fears.

Why should such a dumb statement be met with anything but brushing it off?
>>
2017 was the year Warner convinced people to like their shitty movies

Disney had their time
>>
>>87759540
How is it pedophilia? Unless you, as an adult man or woman gets turned on by children scenes.
>>
>>87759595
They tried sexualizing children and giving them sexual tendencies at the age of 10 or whatever. You don't have to be attracted to see what they were doing. Nice try
>>
>>87759568
Brushing it off would mean that you ignore it instead of giving it attention.
>>
>>87754648

I like it, but didn't really view it as a horror movie. It's a coming-of-age adventure movie. Knew enough to not walk in expecting to be scared.

Are you saying you weren't sexually curious at the age of 10? I think its a pretty natural scene.
>>
>>87754648
Dont trust reviews m8. Its 2017 every """reviewer""" is bought and paid for. I caught onto this fact after getting fooled time and again into watching the latest marvel capeshit, like back in 2013.
>>
>>87759644
I think they're supposed to be like 14 or so. Realistically, you think kids aren't at least curious at 14?
>>
>>87759752
A child being sexually curious is different to an adult being horny. They portrayed them as horny adults

They gave them adult tendencies and personas to normalize pedophilia. Stephen King is a closet pedophile and the (((directors))) in hollywood are no different. Why else do they glorify his shit books? Is it so out of the question that they would use their power in selfish ways?
>>
>>87759833
>Implying you didn't make dick jokes and stare at the more developed girls when you were the same age as these kids
Fag
>>
>>87759883
on reflection i never did until i was exposed to adult content and pornography. that is not the natural behavior of a child. it's their behavior when they are fucked up by a decadent society
>>
>>87757603
This. PC posting is pleb tier .
>>
>>87759883
I cant tell if you are stupid or wilfully ignorant but i will spell it out for you. They want us to think that children think and have sexual urges like adults and can therefore consent to sex like adults.

They are normalizing pedophilia. We are in the beginning stages. Wait for it to ramp up in 5 - 10 years and remember my words when it happens to your child
>>

>>
>>87759924

>>87759833
Me and all of my classmates girls and boys were extremely horny when we were 13, fapping together to naughty sites and doing all sorts of cringy kid stuff. Amerifats are so fucking puritan it makes me legit mad if you think there was anything wrong with the boys having naughty thoughts about Beverly.
What I agree on as a but weird is how she flirted with the drugstore guy but it is actually very real and I know 15yo girls flirt with adults all the time at keast when I was back in high school.

Can confirm I had a similar experience starting at the age of 10. Well, it all started with innocent games like playing doctor, next thing you know you're jerking of with your friends because they found a dirty magazine. Children aren't so innocent as you think they are.
>>
>>87754648
I haven't seen it but I'm getting a manchild flick vibe from it.

I've seen the original when I was in elemtary school and I thought it was ok.
But then at that age I thought most of shit I saw were ok.
>>
>>87760042
>>87759996
I find it funny that you dismissed him as a 'puritan'. You are implying that these situations aren't 'pure' but possibly dirty. Why should we encourage our children to do things that we consider 'not pure'? A child also chucks tantrums when they don't get what they want. Should we encourage them to do so because it's 'natural'?
>>

...you do realize that a movie needs to make 10 times its budget to start making profit, right?
>>
>movie makes money and it's considered good
>4chan hates it
Color me surprised. I get it, we're supposed to hate it cause normies like it but aren't you tired of this whole "anti popular" thing? It must be sad to have to hate everything everyone else likes.
>>
all that sexual shit and humor didn't have to be there

why do they have to force that shit in in horror movies

/tv/ isn't a hivemind.
Before it came out, the majority of posters who posted about it seemed to be relatively hyped.
When it came out, the overall reception seemed positive (with a few dissenters. Some of whom I don't doubt had genuine complaints about the film, some of whom may have just been being contrarian). When the cams came out, that's when people started shitting on it more.
>>
>>87765146
I don't understand how so many /tv/ users would ever expect to NOT hate new movies, they always watch new releases on 144p quality on their shitty monitors.

People hating this movie are literal autists. How many threads did they make? And they get told in all of them, but their autism don't let them stop. They'll be here tomorrow and the day after

But people don't like it, I saw it, I know a lot of people who saw it, it's shit and everyone knows it's shit. A lot is said about shilling on 4chan but this is the first time there's been such a large and obvious attempt. At first there was nothing but glowing threads then it just died off because no one fucking cares about a garbage film but any time someone says they don't like it there's an immediate shill assault with you fucking losers replying within a minute of the threads creation.
>>
>>87758036
It would have benefited greatly from being a 20 episode series. There just wasn't enough time to give all of the characters meaningful lines, and we didn't get to see any backstory for a single one.
>>
>>87765299
It made me kind of sad. I moved to a different country when I was 11 so I lost contact with all my childhood friends. By the time I was a teenager I didn't know my new friends half as well as they knew each other.
>>
>>87765299
No, and your dubs don't help. Seeing kids being sociable and finding happiness with each other just reminds me how much of a pathetic friendless loser I am and how I'll never have another chance at that.

>FUCK YOU IT'S COMPLETE UTTER SHIT WORST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN

>FUCK YOU THIS IS THE MASTERPIECE OF HORROR GENRE A BRILLIANT HOMAGE TO THE ORIGINAL THAT IMPROVES EVERY POINT
i didn't like the movie, I thought it was too cliche and the horror aspect is mostly dogshit, but i don't think it was that bad, no idea why you retards always argue about things that are very subjective and will most certainly be very divisive when discussed
>>
Gonna go see the film in an hour, so far my expectations aren't high. The trailer for the film left me in stitches.

It's so funny to see all these butt hurt posters commenting "shIT" or the gif of Pennwise Dancing when he is literally "Pennywise The Dancing Clown". The truth of the matter is that the movie was a huge box office success and any input you have to say about it flopping is completely invalid.

I'm absolutely sure the shills have been ordered to defend the original book. They always say
>The underage gangbang was fine! It made sense in the book, stop talking about!
Like the higher-ups KNOW people are going to be talking about that so they told the shills to defend that particular point even though it's not even in the movie.
Just something I've noticed.
>The scene does make sense though if you're a sex pervert on cocaine.

Quotes from Critics that may align closer to OP.

I have not seen it yet, so I have no opinion. I'm actually unsure of how people that haven't seen it yet have an opinion about it in this thread.

>What we're left with is a solid but relatively conventional horror movie, above average but overlong.

>Doesn't cut very deep and isn't very scary.

> It is unfortunate that the film is as diagrammatic as an algebra equation. Actually, I believe that algebra is more terrifying than old Pennywise.

>Even those unfamiliar with the book might wonder why this kids-only manifestation of IT feels strangely toothless on the horror front.

>What do we have here, really? We have a story that feels not so much freshly imagined as dutifully recounted.

So, while most audience and critics liked it, there are some that didn't and brought up a few valid concerns.

Why do I even come to this board? The level of discourse is so fucking low I'd get better answers from 5 year olds.

>hurr it's not scary!!
who the fuck gets scared by horror movies after they're 14 years old? The only conclusion you can draw from this is that most here are underage

>hurr sexualizing kids
You're doing the sexualizing because you're fucked in the head. Boys in white undies, whoop de fucking doo, have you never been to gym class? Some girl with a fridge body and no curves at all in 80's underwear? call the cops! Fuck, are you all raised mennonite or what?

>hurr too much humor and not enough scary clown
welcome to Stephen King, and welcome to writing a story about people you actually give a shit about.
Nobody cares when 6 people go into a murder house and all get killed one by one because you know nothing about them. Making the movie about the kids and having Pennywise be secondary to all the other shit in their life, at least for a little while fleshes out the characters and non-retarded people actually start caring about them a little.

That said, I'd give it an 7/10 because King is a hack.

Really the only objective complaint is that it was overly long, which I can understand. The rest of the complaints just sound like the typical critic finding something to not like about a popular movie. That line about algebra made my eyes roll out of my head

Just got back from seeing the film and fuck me was that funny! Pennywise fucking doing a jig while his head stays in line with the camera was my favourite fucking scene. And when he runs while doing that fucking head shake! Jesus this film was good. The horror wasn't amazing, and the jumpscares where a little often, but I can forgive it, because I am in tears.
