The reason christianity is frequently discussed is because western countries are predominantly christian. If artists or filmmakers in the west are going to make something dealing with religion it will be about that 9 times out of ten because that is the only religion most people are exposed to. In OP's case, the movie seems to be a writeup on religion as a whole, taking broad strokes from all the Abrahamic faiths.

The home is our home and we're overpopulating it and destroying it until the world says "done." and kicks us all out.

Pretty much the film. Of course there's deeper religious aspects in the film, but it was mostly an entertaining experience. I didn't know how to react once shit started going do so I just laughed all the way through till the sacrifice. That was something I didn't expect from a mainstream movie. But I really loved the design and shit of all the different cults. And how they each had their own portion of the house. It was a neat movie that I recommend watching the last 30 minutes on youtube somewhere, cause the build up really doesn't fill you in with any knowledge since the characters have no name, and there's no story until the last 30, then it's about literally everything.
(Hell sit through the credits just for the roles, that part is entertaining as well. Dude named "pisser".)

Regardless of the film as a whole there's no denying the pure chaos portion of the film is pretty damn impressive. The sound and set direction are award worthy in here since you hear everything in the movie how J.Law's character would hear it. And the transformation of the house, I gotta give mad props to the set team there. Some insane detail went into that.

If the film ended 5 minutes earlier and cut out the recreation part, it'd be more mainstream audience friendly.
