Lets see your list.
>>
>>87741419

Hell or High Water is decent.

Nightcrawler is worth watching once.

Inside Llewyn Davis is overrated by Coen fanboys.

Drive was okay to watch once but nothing special except for some stylish violence, otherwise it was fairly cheesy, especially the music. The opening scene is cool though.

Blue Valentine is better than most films of its sort but the main character's wife is just such a bitch that I will never watch it again. Why do women always have to be portrayed as mean and/or irrational in such films.

Amour

The Spectacular Now

Machester by the Sea

In no particular order
>>
>>87744150
>otherwise it was fairly cheesy, especially the music
There is nothing wrong with this. Watch Le Samourai, or Melville's other work, and you'll too find "cheesy" elements, such as "The Silent Type" caricature, characters glued to their fedoras as if personal items, pistols always in coat pockets, etc. Except those films are decades old. The Driver in "Drive" is reminiscent of such characters and elements, with his scorpion jacket and whatnot.
>>87744440
So I take it you don't appreciate The Driver, nor Le Samourai? Because that in turn puts in question the validity of your own opinion.
>>
>>87744489

I don't see what's wrong with painting houses and spending time with your wife and daughter. Plenty of people regret not having spent enough time with their family, and so many women in her situation would be so happy to have a guy like that.

And you have to have a very superficial concept of relationships to care about the hairline and make assumptions about a person's character and worth as a person based on that.

I don't see how he was a loser, except that he got legitimately upset about something and lost control, but not after his wife had been a bitch in almost every scene she was in. And I can't believe she would do that to her child. She let her douchey boyfriend fuck her without protection, then did nothing about it, even though she was supposedly studying to be a doctor and should have known better.

Then she lucks out and finds a guy who does treat her right and actually stays and raises her kid for her while she's a bitch the whole time he is being a good dad. He's only a loser insofar as he let her use him and fuck with his life.

Not the poster you're replying to, but it's clearly shown that his aspirations are low, if nonexistent. She questions him, asks him how long he can continue (remember he also drinks at work, sometimes even in the morning), and gets defensive answers in return. Then recall her own aspirations were to go to medical school, but then with the pregnancy and marriage, she ends up being a nurse. So she blames him, especially when he was the one to convince her into keeping the child (he could have pressured her instead of offering). Basically, they made a mistake, and are flawed people equally at fault.

>>
>>87745364

I must have missed that, thought he only drank that one time at the hotel. Although I'm not at all aware of him convincing her to keep it, she was the one who changed her mind about having an abortion right before it happened, and walked out of the clinic, so it was entirely her decision as far as I know, he just accepted it and stuck around for her.

I still can't see it being equal. And honestly, if I got myself trapped with a woman who behaved that way, it could easily drive me to drink too.

she knew what kind of person he was when she fell in love with him (he was a highschool dropout that worked for a moving company) - it's not like she was blindsided by his lack of lofty aspirations

also she left the fucking door unlocked for the doggo to escape and get roadkilled

Anyone see Eden, a French movie about a dj's live over two decades?

Easily in my top 3 for this decade but I never see it mentioned. Possibly the best music-related film I've ever seen.
