Riddle me this /tv/, why does Woody have a gun holster but no gun? What kind of cowboy doesn't have a firearm but has a holster for one? What the fuck was his problem?

It was taken away from him after he accidentally killed Mr Potato Head's first wife. That's why he hates Woody, read the fucking EU novels
From a filmmaking standpoint, it made Buzz that much cooler than Woody.
He took an oath not to kill ever again after taking part in the Srebrenica killings.
Andy lost it.
Woody knew it was somewhere in the house but all hell would break loose if he got it before Andy did.

Woody used to be a hard-drinking, no nonsense sheriff who ruled through fear rather than instilling a sense of community in the toys. One day he received a call for help when the smallest babushka doll was captured by a large, webless spider. Woody took aim at the spider and missed because he was drunk, killing the babushka doll. He gave up drinking that day and vowed never to kill again. That's why all of the toys flip on him so hard when they think he's killed buzz, despite him being the leader - they think he's on the sauce again and therefore cannot be trusted.

In Woody's Roundup he still doesn't have the pistol. It's not just a toy thing, the canon "Woody" never had one to begin with.
Because Woody is a monster that can't be trusted with a gun.
