I'm a Dutch uni student with a very noticeable Dutch accent. I'm studying to become an English teacher and one of my teachers told me that if I watch something, be it news or series, it should be in the accent I'm trying to achieve, which is British in my case.
What are some good British series?
You can throw anything at me, although I prefer sci-fi and fantasy and don't watch cartoons.

Doctor Who, Torchwood and Misfits are sci-fi but honestly they aren't great
England is only really good at making comedies, Only Fools and Horses, Black Adder, Outnumbered for example
Red Dwarf is a comedy sci-fi, I haven't seen it but might be the sort of thing you are looking for

Ray stevenson(pullo) has a decent english accent and so does James Purefoy(mark antony). Even Caesar is Ciaran hinds and vorenus voiced Soap in MW2

Gormenghast is a great fantasy miniseries, though perhaps not the best accents to mimic as they're quite strange. Have you considered audio materials? Douglas Adams reading the Hitchhiker's Guide books for example, he's got a nice accent to copy, the TV miniseries is also worth checking out, lovely accents from all the cast and especially Peter Jones as the book.

Dutch people are good at English. My only advice is just don't over over pronounce 'r's...Dutch people get that from watching American shows.
