people turned to piracy because the industry ruined itself by chasing younger and younger demographics (and not getting them naked).

It is RUINED. Because of faggots like you, we will never get a peculiar film franchise, big budget blockbuster like Back to the future again. Hollywood won't take a chance on idiosyncratic tent poles rightfully so because mother fuckers like (YOU) won't pay for them. No we have to die the slow death of dreadful sequels and exhausting reboots. I can't wait for everyone of you fuckers to pay some digital fine in the future because they have been secretly keeping tab of your offenses. You will pay. I also can't wait for netflix to crash once more studios implement their own streaming service like Disney. ITS GUNNA BE A SHITSHOW. NO ONE WILL SURVIVE AND WE WILL LEECH ON YOUTUBE "EPICX" TILL WERE DEAD
>>

What I find funny is that for the past few years studios have blamed pirating for there decreasing growth, now they have started blaming rotten tomatoes. hey hollywood maybe now that we have video games, the internet and social media, we have other things to do instead of go see whatever trash is in theatres or on tv.

>>87633519
you clearly don't know how movies are funded

it's not as simple as using the money you got from other movies to make new ones, these companies don't have hundreds of millions of dollars of capital at a time. they get investors to loan them in various re-financing schemes. I get that you're trolling but i see this idea thrown out a lot on this board and i'm getting sick of it.

Piracy just makes sense when they took away the ability to rent physical media completely (here in Canada), streaming services are a complete mess when it comes to content and it's rape prices to buy a movie I'm only gonna watch 1 or 2 times max. I still pick up DVDs or Blu Rays for like 5 dollars max at thrift stores if I really liked the movie.

All piracy's done is let me see things I would never have seen otherwise, and honestly a lot of it I wouldn't want to support anyway. It's a different case for books, if the author's still living I'll buy a physical copy even though I prefer reading electronically. The same thing might apply to video games if I played them, I'm not sure of the situation now

>>
>>87636005
This. Never seen a single fact to back up the assertion that every pirated piece of media = a lost sale. If someone listens to hours of music outside of their income, taking their ability to listen to it away won't magically give them money to spend on it, and their lack of knowledge now means they can't pass on word of mouth advertising to someone who CAN pay for it.

I don't know what world you live in where you think nobody wants to see artists they love taken care of. If that were true, kickstarter, patreon, Bandcamp allowing pay what you want pricing often INCLUDING 0$, GoG.com couldn't exist and thrive but they all are.

Learn to recognize piracy for what it is: free advertising.

I pirate movies and TV shows because I am a digital hoarder and because I don't like paying for things. I don't make any excuses about a "sharing economy" or "art should be free" or anything like that. I believe it's stealing, but I do it anyway because I don't want to pay for things if I can get them for free.

Also because it is inconvenient to try and track down which (if any) of the many video streaming services has a particular thing I want to watch. Sometimes I want to watch an episode of Columbo at 2:30 in the morning and I don't want to have to figure out where the fuck I can do that online. Piracy is more convenient.
>>
>>87636005
Faggot, listen please, real close, perk ur ear drum fer fuck sakes,.

You have no life outside of youtube. If it was 10 years ago, you woulda payed for every fuckin movie that came out so you would have an excuse to show your face in public. Back in the day it was exciting and rewarding to watch a movie you knew nothing about. Now people watch the films in the trailers and fill in the blanks with the pirates. Why do you think people leak scenes on YouTube, there just watching movies how people digest shit today. ADD rodents with no head, scrambling for dopamine. I wish I could scrape the inner rim of my ass crack with their tongues. So immoral but so JUST.

Wrong.

Films used to get released in the US 4-6 months before Europe 15 years ago. Finally some big blockbusters like Lord of the Rings changed that and got released the same night as the US. Most average films still get released 1-2 months after the US in Europe.

Tv series on the other hand used to take A YEAR to be released in European tv, or be released on DVD in shops in Europe. A FUCKING YEAR.

The internet changed all that. Suddenly geeks like me could watch any tv series at the same time as US viewers. Netflix and similar providers realized the demand of European viewers, but it was too late. Most Europeans are used to piracy by now, due to convenience.

>equating movies with music
Do you know what rotation count is dumbass? How many times are you gunna read the same book? You know how fuckin rare it is for any person to repeat the same fringe activity that requires commitment without the same novel reward? Music is different becuade it's mood oriented and environmental and ambiguous in its importance to the person, it becomes subjective. People didn't "turn to piracy". Cheapskates and younger audience members without substantial incomes simply sought torrenting as the only option for their media acquisition, for obvious monetary reasons. This over time has had a negative effect on what kinds of movies get made by major studios. Gone are the medium budget pictures, and unfortunately now everything is either a cheaply made """indie""" production or a huge blockbuster that guarantees studios get their money back, which they do by appealing to the largest audience possible. In a way you're kind of right, the studios are NOW targeting the 7-12 year old demographic harder because they are much less likely to torrent movies, and instead get their parents to take them to the cinema.

The industry thrives on artificial monopolies, it is the result of the powerful lobbying industry. I pirate because I have no respect for this industry or their cartel, where charging $20 for a piece of entertainment and proving no low-cost alternative is acceptable.

Even in music, those sharks will allow Youtube uploads of their albums to live, because they know it's ultimately beneficial, as research has shown time and again. Piracy will make customers of people who would otherwise not spend money on a movie.

It is true. The most direct harm piracy has done to the movie, television, music and video game industries is that it's made people who are too stupid to pirate the most valuable and influential demographic. Think about it, the only folks voting with their dollars at this point are the ones too illiterate to even find TPB. How horrifying is that?

I'll stop pirating movies and television (mostly) when a platform with nearly anything I could want to watch, in GOOD (10,000kbps for a 1080p encode) quality, without needing to have some autistically specific hardware and software, pops up. Spotify got me to stop pirating music this way. So far it looks like Amazon is leading the race.

You know, it's funny you ask that. Well anon, "for all you pirating faggots, you RUINED the industry, fuckin plebs" happened long before you and I were even born. At the birth of the studio system, Jews, realizing the propaganda potential, began to either create their own studios or steal others. Paramount is a fine example - originally created and owned by William Wadsworth Hodkinson, a non-Jew, it was merged with the Jewish owned Famous Players Lasky, who then used controlling interests to oust Hodkinson and replace him with Jew Adolph Zukor. Paramount is worth over 800 billion, today.)

The Jews would use Hollywood as means to financial success, political power and influence, continuously placing Jews to be their successors in power so that the studios remained firmly in their hands. As time went on they would place more Jews into the spotlight - some of the earliest stars being Kirk Douglas (born Issur Danielovitch), or Hedy Lamarr (born Hedwig Kiesler), normalizing the presence of this minute minority in American daily lives.

Through Hollywood the Jews would spread social liberalism and Marxist ideals, mold American opinion, and finance their own nation. My lack of opportunities to get my film financed, compiled with the extraordinary number of mediocre screenplays being financed ahead of mine, is just another reiteration of this, only now the American public seems to be finally getting sick of the Jewish presence in their lives.

It's kinda sad and amazing how terrified the big industry is of adapting.

They've been crying for two decades and the law has bent over backwards to pat them on the back instead of telling them to up the shut fuck and deal with it, and just now we're finally seeing some change and them actually using modern technology. And they're no worse off than they were before except for the self-inflicted bruising.
>>
>>87644114
I think it's disingenuous to say you pirate because some products weren't as good as you thought they would be. It's up to you to make the informed decision. That being said, if I could pirate more things, I would. No more shit car parts, no more crappy peripherals, no more ill fitting boots, but I actually don't mind paying for good stuff. Just need someone to leave some initial feedback, because you can't trust companies.

If you buy a crappy game though, it's really only your fault, you can see it as punishing the company but if you gave money to the crappy game company and withheld money from the good game company because you were burned by the bad one, you really only hurt yourself
>>
>>87644321
How do you make informed decisions when all information is bought and paid for by the people selling the product?
>>
>>87644528
I guess you could look up consumer reviews of the product. Not that I object to pirating since consumers wanting things for cheaper is just part of the free market.
>>
>>87644528
Exactly, that's why I pirate what I can. Two opposing examples: I use kodi, but bought forza 3. Difference is, TV and movies might not be good, I get em for free because I'm not wasting money on a maybe. Forza is old and there's tons of info for me to say yeah, I guess it's worth 60 bucks.

It's easy to do this with movies and games, harder with other physical things. I don't think I'll ever pay for any movie that isn't a drive through (this Thursday the local drive in its doing 3 back to back Kurosawa films, I'll pay 15 bucks for that).

reminder that hollywood actively sought out and destroyed independent film and erased their own mid-budget divisions in order to create a situation where the only movies coming out either had their branding or cost hundreds of millions, all for the sake of changing film form a creative endevour to a predictable investment opportunity.
>>
>>87646058
You're putting the cart before the horse, shlomo. The shitty modern movies were not due to piracy. That was their own decisions to go with billion dollar movies that need to pull in ridiculous numbers internationally to break even. And this desire for bloated expensive movies is what leads to them being derivative trash, because no one is willing to take a risk when a movie costs 500 million (+ tip).

It's the exact same situation that's happened with video games. Companies like EA and Ubisoft just shitting out games that cost millions, but are the same thing every time. And they've been doing this for a very long time, and all they do is ruin franchises and studios. It's not because of piracy.
>>
>>87646240
This. The issue is that we only get big budget movies. And the bigger the budget, the "safer" you're going to be. This means sequels, reboots, etc.
>>
There is hope lads.
I would say that it's just a cycle like in any other artform, today's capeshit is the same thing as the massively produced westerns or zombie flicks in the 80s, at a certain point even the most casual viewers will become fed up with it and something else will replace it. Capeshit has already hit it's peak, it's all downhill from there.
As for remakes/reboots I'm afraid that will always stay present, but that doesn’t mean that big budget studio rehashes are all there is in Hollywood, bad films were always made.

Also I hope you are not excluding yourself from the rest of the world's vast film industry, not only Hollywood blockbusters. Today you have thousand times more options to view a great film from any part of the world (or period) than ever before.

lmao, IMAGINE being brainwashed enough to think you feel satisfaction by giving up your hard earned money to WB or Disney, or HBO

and that would be fine if hollywood hadn't actively sought out and exterminated any entity with the potential to engage in risk.

Its like buying a record and thinking you're supporting the artist, and not the label.

Go to a concert if you want to support the artist. There are no "concerts." for film.
>>
>>87644886
Except it happened atleast twice before. In fact, this wave of high budget capeshit is reminiscent of the wave of high budget epics in the fifties when TV was introduced. Another blow was the introduction of VHS and movie-taping.

Don't fall for the crocodile tears of the movie industry. Demand quality product for lower price, especially given the technology is here to faciliate that. If they fail to deliver, steal those movies and show them it's ultimately the customer, not the producer who dictates the terms. If they threaten to stop making movies, all the better.
>>
>>87646937
Yes by buying tickets in cinema you are first and foremost paying the studio, but that same studio will give the director of that film even more money than to make a yet another film. If the studio doesn’t get any money, the director will more than likely not be granted to do another movie and because of that no other studio would give him the same amount of budget, if any.
Also film festivals are the "concerts" for film.
>>
>>87647068
>show them it's ultimately the customer, not the producer who dictates the terms
And by "showing" them, today the average chinese consumer dictates what the next Hollywood film will be like.
>>
>>87647084
We've already gone over why that's irrelevant. There's nothing but shit in the theaters and hollywood actively disregards any tickets sold by movies they didn't spend hundreds of millions to make and market.

So? Sooner or later, even the Chinks will learn how to pirate or start making their own capeshit since copying the West is their no.1 hobby.
>>

apart form nolan (whos shit) you keep posting films that only got, maybe, one screening per state.

If bluray wasn't for $60 I would buy most of content I watch. Imo it should be buyable for $10 and rental for 1-2 dollars
>>
>>87632990
People turned to piracy because it's convenient. If I had the option of streaming any movie I want without having to pay membership to 5 different streaming services I would take it over pirating films. The mess that the industry is in now is because of their own lack of will to change to suit modern audience expectation.
>>
>>87633232
>autism
>>
>>87647335
Nope, chinks don't even like chinese films and they go to the theaters as a social event, they just want big american actors to do something for 2 hours, some explosions and that's it.

And the copying of the west has stopped for quite some time now, they learned all they needed and today china has the biggest yearly number of patents being made in the entire world.

This, getting tricked by the media Jew, may it be videogames, software or movies/TV shows, they just did it too much, false advertising, false box art, false presentation, false trailers, straight up lies, too many remakes.

At some point a man has had enough of getting scammed and won't ever give a cent up before throughoutly giving the product a free try, or straight up saying, fuck them, I've had enough.
>>
>>87647454
Where the fuck do you find blurays for $60? They are mostly between the $10-$20 if it's something new, much less if older.
I mean a standard Criterion release is about $30, and even they have multiple 50% off sales in a year.

>movies could be made with literally 1/10 of their budgets

This is something NEVER in this threads like to say.
No one has the balls or the intelligence to say "actors shouldn't cash million and millions every movie".

This is somehow ok for everyone in this threads. Am I the only one that see this as a major problem in the movie business?
>>
>>87646434
The problem is one of degree. Sure, there have been fads/trends/etc in movies, but the issue is that the current market means that the fad movies (capeshit and such) make up a far larger proportion of modern movies than westerns or anything like that ever did.

The issue is the focus on giant bloated budgets. This means the studios can take less risks, they focus on doing the same things over and over again, etc. There have always been trends, but it's never been like today, where the vast majority of these blockbuster movies are part of the trend. At no point in history have movies been so fucking needlessly bloated and expensive like this. That's what's stifling the creativity.

There's also the fact that capeshit can be molded to fit any genre. Before, you had action movies, adventure movies, mystery movies, horror movies, etc etc etc. But now? All of these different types of genres are rolled into one amorphous "capeshit" movie genre. You don't have action, adventure, horror, comedy, etc. You have elements of these things within the context of capeshit. Capeshit capeshit capeshit.

>call people degenerate

>>

Exactly. I cannot fucking stand all this boohoo bullshit from the giant movie studios bitching and trying to blame literally everyone else for their problems except themselves. They need to come to terms with the fact that they're making shitty derivative shlock, and that is why people don't want to watch their bullshit. They're at a time where there are more markets across the world open to them than ever before, and they still have the fucking nerve to act like they're some little guy down on his luck.

Maybe they should stop spending a billion dollars per movie.
>>
>>87648192
But that's like 0.01% of films, only the biggest Hollywood studio franchises.
It's like complaining how Christiano Ronaldo get's ridiculous amount of money for kicking a ball, while 99% of soccer players are barely living from it.
>>
>>87632760
Movies are dying, it's all about TV Series now.
>>
>>87647773
Horror movies were basically the catalyst for me to stop my blockbuster membership, and go find bootleg pirated VHS.
Yeah the quality was not as good, but I was paying a fraction of the cost when compared to a blockbuster rental, and I got to keep the movie forever.
And some guys even let you return the movies if you didn't like it and exchange it for another one for half the price, so I was able to leave his "store" with 20 fucking movies in my arms for the price of 2 blockbuster movies.
>>
>>87645438
Nice choices anon. Other anons here will shit on you just cos.
>>
>>87648328
I hope all TV series die off, literally the only thing that matters in a TV series is the characters, every other filmmaking element is completely ignored, especially in the long run.
Such a pathetic producers medium.
>>
Every time you pirate Transformers: The Last Knight a Jewish Hollywood exec dies of heart disease

NIGHTMARE MODE: you have to watch it each time before you pirate it again

it's actually pretty fun tho
>>
No pirating didn't ruin the media

What ruined the media was the the fact that hollywood doesn't like to innovate or like using the free market.

If they really thought piracy was that much of a problem, why not invest money into trying to get a video that is impossible to decode or copy to another disk?
>>

That's a real, valid and ongoing complain. Stadiums have a fixed amount of seats. That's a fixed amount of income on full seats every game. If Ronaldo is payed 200 million and asks for 300 million, where do you think the money will come from?

You don't pay more for a movie ticket when the lead actor double his fees for a sequel.

Idiots without proper cinematic training watching movies.
>>
>>87644886
Like it or not, most studios today gain back their money with movie theater release money. Not DVD sales or Netflix options.

Since it's nearly impossible to pirate the copy if it's still in theaters unless you want a shitty camRip.

Even so, piracy is what killed blockbuster video rental stores. And why movies are still big budget fuckfests.
>>
>>87648838
how do I get trained into Kino?
any decent build and stats points distribution?
is the engame any good?
>>
>>87648705
Do you think that the stadium tickets is the only revenue clubs get? Are you aware that most of their profit comes from trading players and winning tournaments? They train young players and then sell for millions to other clubs. Tickets are just one small number of a whole.
Also the sponsors are a whole another thing, club sponsors, individual player sponsors etc. Ronaldo get's a quick 10 million euro just by being in a short 10 second ad for a product.
>>
>>87644075

Its not about training or knowledge of cinema I think.

since jaws and starwars when this blockbuster shit started studios slowly turned to milk same franchise and it was less risky. they also aimed wider audience (pg 13). but since early 2000s it became a lot worse. All this stupid fantasy kid movies and capeshit...
