I saw Ryan Gosling at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think electrical is a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

>You can't have that kind of success without turning into a bit of a douche.
Redpilled version: When you achieve that level of success, you MUST turn yourself into a douche, because anyone you show the slightest bit of kindness or even politeness will immediately demand career opportunities or money. People show their true colors when you've got something they really want, and it's rarely pretty.

This is why so many movie stars and millionaires seem depressed and cynical. If you achieve success, the world punishes you for it, you won't get to enjoy it for long. Nobody gets to be happy. Achieving your dreams just means discovering new forms of misery
>>
>>87623467
It's also why he was replaced by Ruffalo in the MCU. Norton literally can't "keep to himself." He has to influence the script or else he feels underappreciated.
>>

Saw the documentary on the making of Island of Dr.Moreau. Brando is in fine form demanding a custom hat with an ice bucket inside and falling in love with that foul midget who was also a pain in the ass to work with.
Also Val Kilmer sounds like a shit as well.
The doc is all kinds of weird, the oh director is fired but sneaks back on set in mutant costume, Faruza Balk tries to escape but is recaptured.
Extras in costume for days doing nothing but partying or being miserable but no shooting.

The original director did some weirdly memorable movies to me. Hardwire and dust devil. I wouldn't say they were amazing but they stuck with me for some reason. It sucks there hasn't been a good dr Moreu adaptation that captures the absolute dread and spookiness of that book.

Denzel and Fishburne are two of the most racist actors around.
>>
>>87627775
Emma is a stickler for tradition who can't work "in her zone" unless people follow every little foolish detail she lays out. Snacks? Precisely arraigned how she wants them on set. Drinks? Carbonated only, but no sugar. Meals? Heavy on beans and curry mainly. She gets mad if these things are changed. She also likes to be in charge of other on-set personnel and exerts her authority in strange, nitpicky ways that nobody on set has the guts to speak out against. She enters the dressing rooms of other stars, passes the most noxious gas you've ever smelled, and leaves as if she's done nothing at all. It impacts set morale heavily. She also passes gas during shoots. I can't even tell you the number of times we had to redo a take on the set of Beauty and the Beast because she let rip a roaring beast of a fart that shook the damned carriage. She even farted in her sleep, which led the assistants to ventilate her trailer. She came out the next morning in a frothing rage and refused to work for a week because the assistants had ruined her natural feminine musk.
>>
>>87627751
He went to this private school in my town, "Crossroads" where rich LA westside children go to do little coursework and sell off their prescription drugs to teachers. It's safe to assume Jack Black while immensely talented is probably some kind of narcissist dickbag. He can play cool and does that a lot but it's all a character. Can't really blame him for being the way he is as it is likely what lead him to success.

A Bronx anon here, Jlo is legendary around here for how much of a bitch and whore she is. Heard stuff from people who went to school with her and even one of our local mailmen. KIPS Bay, and I think she used to go it when she was younger, asked her many times to just make an appearance for the kids but she refused them everytime. She always goes on about being "Jenny from the block" and talking about the Bronx but she has done jack shit for it. Except there was a free concert she did a couple years ago but she was already washed up.

Val Kilmer talked about this in a Q&A I went to.

Would yell at the director. They're rude to anyone who isn't a Scientologist. They both act like they're royalty and smarter than anyone in the room.
They also lived in a compound with Tom Cruise. Their split was rumored to be because she started doubting Scientology and wanted out. Nobody can stand their kids, don't want them around, but can't say anything or they'll get fired. Scientology squashes any media mention of their behavior.

I know that Tarantino & Rodriquez both refuted it. Not publicly either, to Kevin Smith personally they said they never had a problem with Willis.

I really think it was just that Smith despite being in the business for so long by that point was still too much of a normal guy and not professional enough to not take an A list actor's ego so personally. Which can be seen by his inability to shut up about it ever since.

Tom Cruise is difficult to work with, but in diffrent, positive way. The problem with him being perfectionist. He always push to limit, repeating shots as many times as possible, untill result satisfy him, making it difficult to work with.
Almost everyone working with Cruise says it is hard, difficult work. But well-worth and full of fun too. Cruise is also very fit guy, always running a lot, doing own stunts and shits. Naturally, anyone who is supposed to be in same scene, must keep up with Tom.

I was about to say, harvey made it crystal clear why he imposed those rules and moved to another staff.

He use to be very open in every way (talk to anyone, sign anything for anyone, meet anyone, wouldnt mind business talks before the show, etc) until it became so bad he couldnt stand it. Interns would bring their entire 5+ family to meet him as he was walking from his dressing room to the show and just bombard him with talks, fan awestrucks and requests for autographs. He, like most actors, like a little quiet time to get in the mindset before having to go face millions of people, and people would ignore that and just barge into his dressing room. Most people didnt even knock, just walked right in and started talking

>>
>>87628180
Tom cruise is clearly a dickhead
>>
>>87623187
and here's the text of the link:

After the crusted-over phlegm ball stuck in Hollywood’s throat named Katherine Heigl left Grey’s Anatomy and was labeled an unhealable anus fissure by the ruler of primetime television Shonda Rhimes, she acted in a few bombs, redefined the meaning of “perfect” when she did a ZzzQuil commercial and starred in what was supposed to be her big comeback show. It never saw the light of a second season. Heigl also found time to sue Duane Reade for using her picture in a tweet and she made a movie using Indiego donations (some of which she put in her own pocket). Heigl has followed all of that up by starring in an ad campaign for kitty litter, which makes sense since her career has ended up in the shit box. But supposedly, Heigl isn’t only doing it, because a check is a check, she’s also doing it for the down-and-out animals of the world.

Heigl’s commercials for Cat’s Pride kitty litter are currently on TV and if you’ve seen them, you may have said to the screen, “Bitch, you can’t even get Fresh Step?!” In the commercials, Katherine Heigl plays a pussy psychiatrist who tells a human patient to switch to Cat’s Pride as a cat thinks to herself that she needs to fire her agent, because now Shonda Rhimes is never going to cast her as “snobby cat #1” in an episode of Scandal.

He was "difficult" to work with because Kevin Smith isn't a great director. He told Bruce Willis to act like a character he played for years on tv. Then when Bruce asked him what lens they were using in a shot, so he knows what he's acting for, and Kevin Smith didn't know. Bruce seemed perplexed by this guy who's been a director for years doesn't even know what lens he's shooting a scene with.

The best always are. Michael Richards was the same on Seinfeld and it would annoy the shit out of him when people would stuff up a line and start laughing because it ruined his concentration. Consummate professionals in general are like this because they want to put out the best performance possible.

I post this a lot, I worked on the 2016/2017 film "Lion"

Absolute bro tier: Dev Patel, he was high fiving everyone, we had a lot of Indian extras who couldn't speak english very well and he took the time to have conversations with them. And in the language they speak, when possible. He signed innumerate posters, even some of movies he wasn't even in, with a laugh.

Bitch: Rooney Mara. No surprises here, Wouldn't talk to any extras or support staff, silent in between takes and despondent at crew lunch. Only seemed to register Dev and the director as people.

Nicole Kidman is solid too. Standoffish, but for someone of her seniority on a set, its understandable. She's not mean about it.

And for all the new fags: Dane DeHaan used to post here. He's a good kid.

im not saying hes not hard to work with, just that his 'draconian' rules from the letter that was posted has a ton of merit and its easy to see why he imposed those rules. He didnt even try to hide from it. As soon as it hit, he said EXACTLY why he imposed the rules.

>Harvey argued that the staff members were “ambushing him,” which gave him a reason to handle it in this particular way.

>“I could not find a way to walk from the stage to my dressing room, to sit in my makeup chair, to walk from my dressing room to the stage or to just sit and have lunch without somebody just walking in,” he said. “I’ve always had a policy where, you know, you can come and talk to me — but some of them just started taking advantage of it.”

>He added: “Look man, I’m in my makeup chair, they walk in the room. I’m having lunch, they walk in, they don’t knock. I’m in the hallway, I’m getting ambushed by people with friends that come to the show and having me sign this and do this. I just said, ‘Wait a minute.’

No to mention he was tired of constant rewrites. He said in an interview that at one point it got so bad, that he didn't even bother reading the corrected scripts if the scenes weren't shooting that day, as they'd be different the next day.
>>
>>87639260
I respect actors and the personality it requires to be a good one but most are clowns (willing to do anything within reason for validation, people pleasers) and/or whores (willing to do anything for money/status) and that's why they're entertaining on that show. I think there's plenty of good people who'd come off like an asshole because they're not willing to play along and it's precisely that quality that makes them interesting artists, doesn't preclude their being good people by any means. Though perhaps I don't give Graham enough credit as a host to pick up on that and make a good show regardless, I haven't watched that much of it. Anyway, my point is as a metric for judging people's personalities I think it's missing a lot of depth.

And that sort of personality mismatch applies to a lot of rumors I hear about (e.g. this thread) of people being assholes to work with, it's totally possible they simply found themselves in a situation that their personality was not suited for, whether it was being pressured into doing something they didn't like or working with incompetent/annoying people. Potentially even the ones who wound up starting the rumors. Like other people have said if someone works steadily for decades in a fairly competitive field there's probably something people like about working with them. Movie stars are a possible exception since studios seem to believe they sell a lot of tickets/home copies all by themselves. (What's the evidence supporting this anyway?)

the most well talked about one is him on the set of cat in the hat.

Basically, he got a movie greenlit based on a character of his from SNL, and all the budget and stuff got paid out and he signed contracts to do the film. He basically said he refused to sign off on a script until it was good, but the reason he kept doing that was he didnt really want to do the movie anymore, but couldnt contractually leave it. He kept doing it, wasting the studio (and their partners) time and money and eventually he told them he wouldnt ever approve a script and forced them to bond out ('Completion bonding' (contract stating the film will be finished).

In hollywood, the writing off of a film thats already been paid out for is extremely bad, because they already lost a ton of money getting insured, contracts with prop/clothing studios/production teams, etc. But it goes further than that. Universal doesnt pay the entire thing for a universal movie, they pay a % of it and other investors/studios/production teams pay the rest. These are based on contracts and estimated return profits. Even if a movie bombs, they get SOME of the money back + the main studios are legally free because they can say they produced it and put it out, and they cant help no one went and saw it. When he backed out, it forced universal legally to be forced to pay out the estimated profits as if it was a huge success (part of the reason movies get bonded). So the lower studios who bought into the movie made a nice profit, universal didnt. If you force a bond out, your 99% of the time done in hollywood. Your beyond blacklisted

They sued the shit out of him and the settlement he signed said he had to be in a movie of their choice and they picked cat in the hat (which is the only reason he wasnt blacklisted). He didnt want to be there at all and fucked the movie. Was a 100% complete dick on set and off. He wanted everyone to be as miserable as him.

Can sort of confirm. I was an extra for Jack Reacher. It's not like he was going around striking up conversations with everyone but he smiled and said hello and thanked us for being there while we were waiting around for filming to start.

Also Smith was high as a kite the whole time and would frequently take breaks so he could go smoke weed. bruce didn't like that.

Classic case of assholes assuming nice people are just using their kindness to hide their true nature. They cant fathom that some people genuinly are good so they project all their flaws onto them.

Agreed. I think Christian Bale is a good actor but you can tell he's the kind of guy that just sucks all the fun out of a room.

What does this mean in layman's terms? I have the sinking feeling it applies to me but I can't tell completely.

about Cruise. Working with him is very good. He is a tryhard guy and literally NEVER gets tried. You can fuckup shot, he just bursts of laugh and retake it. Pretty often he fuckups by himself. Usually scenes have like 5 to 10 takes. Everyone on stage is very tried by end of day, falling asleep everywhere, while Cruise starts jogging. Seriously. NEVER seen hims sleeping or taking a nap. No clue how he does it. Whenever You show up early in morning, Cruise is already preparing. When You stay late up night, he is exercising. Maybe he is freak in person, but when comes to work, he is top-notch.

>Chan launched a broadside against calls for more freedom in China this weekend, saying he wasn't sure if a free society was what the country needed and that Chinese people needed to be controlled. His remarks have proven unpopular in his native city-state.
>
>"I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not. I'm really confused now. If you're too free, you're like the way Hong Kong is now. It's very chaotic. Taiwan is also chaotic," Chan, 55, told the Boao Forum for Asia – a regional conference modelled on the World Economic Forum in Davos – when pressed by fellow panel members to take a stance against rigorous control of the media on the mainland and to give his views on suffocating censorship in the growing Chinese film market.
>
>"I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want," he said.

Also probably doesn't help that the last thing I watched with him in it was Rush Hour 2.

Yeah, I'm reading Going Clear and it makes Tom Cruise out to be a nice guy but incredibly naive, being easily suckered in by David Miscavige.

>>87629731

It's painfully obvious from him trying to shill his talentless fucking kids that Will Smith is some degree of narcissist.

I live around the area where M. Night likes to film a lot of his movies, so you run into plenty of people who have stories about him. I went to elementary school with a girl who was in Unbreakable, and my brother was tight with a buddy of his and got to play basketball with him just last year. By almost all accounts he's a genuinely nice dude who is friendly to pretty much everyone, and even though he does have a bit of an inflated ego, he manages to keep it under control.

Also, he totally sucks at basketball.

Bruce Willis isn't exactly a dick, but he is very demanding and has pretty high standards, and a lot of people think those are too high.

Nah he's really cool. Walked into my work looking for a keyboard (instrument not computer device) and was really chill about everything. Seemed pretty inherently awkward though, walked with a slight hunch and aura of unease. It was my second day on the job so I just treated him like any other person for professional reasons of course.
