He's toying with his food.
He could kill and consume Bev anytime he wanted after grabbing her, but he realises his effect is slowly wearing off her, the fear makes them taste better, so he decides to out on a show to freak Bev the fuck out. Or maybe he does the show to every kid he brings down there before eating them.

Once she tries to escape he decides to stop playing around and put her in stasis so he can hunt the rest of the kids down that he knows are coming for her.

It's not goofy, it's stupid.

There's a difference....
>>
>>87592012
I kinda thought that they were trying to emphasize just how IT wasn't human, but rather something pretending to appear human. Note the odd voice, eyes that don't really function properly and go lazy at will, dancing frantically and yet it can keep its head perfectly still. Kinda like the balloons in the book that blow against the wind, IT doesn't necessarily adhere to human anatomy or the laws of physics. It either breaks them intentionally in order to unsettle, or perhaps it screws things up because it is merely imitating limitations that don't actually apply to it.
>>

Tfw you realise that the "It" in the title "It" doesn't refer to a crazy murderous clown, but to the act of sex as referred to by children. Children know about "It", its always a background to their lives, but nobody acknowledges it and adults live in denial about the fact that children have sexuality and sexual desires, trying to hide the existence of sex from children.

The only way they can defeat the mysterious stigma behind "It" is by coming to terms with sex and engaging sexually with each other.

The entire book is an allegory for children's sexuality.

7/10, two or three jumpscares were fine, ten were not. Fucking overkilled it for normies.

Pennywise drooling and getting upset with Georgie at the beginning was actually creepy, and when he started to make pretend bites while snapping at that kid's broken arm and tauntin him was kino.

Good movie, watered down for normies for profit. Could have been a great movie with less jumpscares and BWOOOOOHNNNN sound cues for 'be scared now', elsewise enjoyable.
>>
>>87592147
But the shower scene looks legitimately awful. This is just Pennywise dancing on a Doctor Parnassus stage.
>>
>>87595502
The problem is the motion tracking on his face and the fact that he JUST kidnapped Bev after spooking her to... try and spook her some more? It was poorly executed.

The little dance he does when he's NOT on the stage where he does a jig and then stops and walks slowly was way creepier.

I hated Richie in this new film. Worst part of the movie for sure. Here's how every scene went down
>scary scene (debatable whether it was actually scary but at least they tried)
>Richie comes in with a one-liner, cutting out the humor entirely like a whoope cushion cuts out air
Perhaps the one time Richie didn't just make a joke is when he fought with Bill over not wanting to fight IT anymore. But that's only one scene in a 2 and a half hour movie, and his lines were 70% of the Loser Club's lines. Ben, Mike and STan feel like deadweight after the halfway point.

I saw this today. I read it as an 8-10 year old and am not a pleb or contrarian likew the majority of this board. Take it from me, it's a generous 3.5/5 at most. People calling this a horror film for the ages are deluded. It's not scary in any real sense, it relies on effectively executed jump scares to instill fear and it's soundtrack sounds like a pastiche of every dark fantasy movie you've ever seen, not memorable at all which is a big nono. Large details from the book are glossed over and you don't get the sense that these kids are connected in any powerful sense or have gone through anything that harrowing after the 20th jump scare is quickly resolved. For some reason they've really gone overboard with the memetastic "float" angle too going so far as to have Pennywise' victims floating en mass together at the end in some bizare shrine. I think he says float a couple times in the book but it's not like his fetish or anything. This all leads to It feeling a bit like a 30 million dollar caricature. It feels safe. Setting it in the 80's to cash on on the Stranger Things hysteria, making the group all tsundere without including the end result, going off book but not enough to be anything truly original and the kids felt like they'd taken a lesson in Marvel quip class. Consider LOTR is an adaptation that's beloved, approximating ten hours from roughly 1000 pages. Then consider, It when all is said and done, 4 hours from approx 1000 pages. You tell me if that spells anything but meh. They needed to do a ten hour miniseries or at least stick to their guns and keep the guy who gave us TDs1 and Beasts of no Nation instead of Mama. Pennywise was the best bit and the story has enough classic elements and flash to engage but it all feels a bit flat. A well directed(read- stock), well acted, in focus, foundations of a beloved story take away pizza.

The movie that you see often has extra scenes that were cut in editing. The actor who plays Mike Hanlon could have been telling the truth, while the scene or scenes were being cut and maybe replaced with new scenes from re-shoots. Or maybe even in the script there are placed scenes where Mike deals with racism, but those could have never been shot. A lot of work goes into a film anon.

Since we're having wrong opinion's in here. I'm going to answer a question that I saw in another thread about a possible "plot hole"

>Since it's revealed in the sewer drain scene IT doesn't need to instill fear in her prey in order to kill and feed, then why is IT unable to kill any of the main characters during any of the numerous times it corners them alone?

Because it was real enough for Georgie.

>This isn't real enough for you, Billy? I'm not real enough for you? It was real enough for Georgie.
https://youtu.be/gV0A-p4MSzs

Georgie was afraid of It from the get go. The other main characters were capable of living, because they were all able to figure out that it isn't real due to It manifesting in larger than life portrayals of their fears. It is, in a way, just as afraid of them as they were of It.

Best horror movie of the last 2 years has still been The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Get Out was even more average than It and the VVitch was an indie darling people stroked them selves to to seem hip. having a cosmic horror that could effortlessly wipe you from existence do nothing but fuck around with you for most of your childhood (and then even in your adulthood) is a little more unsettling than a generic "imma eat u!" monster.
>>
>>87598507
that scene was great, though. what's your point? the way it reveals that it is eternal and seems to derive some sick pleasure out of seeing their attempts to stop it. the new one just gives up towards the end.
>>
>>87598565
>Push open the drain
And does nothing really creepy after. He Just calls the kid girly and makes fun of him. The bad stop motion didn't help either.
There's only like one or two scenes where he comes off as genuinely threatening, the rest is comedy gold
>>
The movie was good, 7.5/10 easily. But it's not a horror movie or the best parts aren't the horror ones, it works better as an adventure movie like The Goonies

And this is a good thing because horror is a shit genre with almost no good movies in it

your mom's balls

If you have seen the miniseries, expect it to end in a same way, a shit way. The reason the first part is good is because it's children overcoming their worst fears. That's endearing, a coming of age story. When they're adults, it turns into a completely different story, a story devoid of heart or nuance.
>>
>>87598683
Regardless of whatever antishilling these people want to do about the new IT, we can all agree that the miniseries is absolute shit and objectively worse in every possible aspect
>>
>>87598683
curry's performance gives off the impression he could kill the kids at any time, but hes deliberately drawing it out.

the new one is just a generic monster that comes off as incompetent because it can't kill a few kids.
>>
>>87598712
Take a look trash board. These are the people raving about this.
>>
>>87598570
That's not why it's bad. It's bad becaus ehis head looks like bad cgi on a bad cgi background of fire.
>>
>>87597879
That's fucking retarded. He lures Georgie into the sewer, the other kids he just outright scares and they run away..
>>
>>87598821
Everybody likes this movie though
>>
>>87598880

No thats joe pesci and klaus kinski
>>
>>87598948
Who said that? WB movies have always good reviews on opening no matter how shit they are.
>>
>>87597038
/tv/ is just butthurt the movie didn't flop after they shitposted about it for months on end. You're literally the /v/ of television and film. Just with way more cucks and pedos because Jewywood is a cesspool

Bill Skarsgard is 6'5". The makeup probably adds an inch or two with the giant prosthetic forehead. That's half of some young kid's arm he's nibbling on.
>>
>>87597945
This. Similarly complaining that a horror movie isn't "scary" is missing the point
>>
>>87592793
Congo remake when?!
>>
>>87599026
I didn't shitpost against it at all, it's just legitimately not a great movie and anyone saying it is hasn't read the book and doesn't appreciate good horror to begin with. Tonally its horror operates like that of Mama which is to say not that memorably, except now it has a big IP to pin it's mediocrity on. The fact that people shit on Rick n Morty daily and are raving about this should tell you all you need to know.

Because she had the benefit of childlike curiosity from Georgie. It appears as Pennywise, because kids like clowns. Georgie was comforted only by the smells of the circus. For It to approach seven 13 year olds believing that they would be in anyway comforted by the clown is hard to believe.

This is why It corners Patrick in the sewer. Patrick is a sociopath (not as much as book Patrick, but he's enough of one) who walks into the tunnel thinking he's chasing Ben while igniting the spray from an aerosol can. There's no luring that can be done. I guess you could argue that the other kids aren't sociopaths so what's the reason at that point, but. Again. I'm sure It has been doing this long enough to know that you can't just pull 13 year olds any old way.
>>
>>87599185
You're explaining what happened, not why. Georgie is coaxed into the sewer, it appears as manifestations of their greatest fears with the others.
>>
>>87599243
It's made clear in the book. Approach as friendly clown, kill as scary monster that Georgie was affraid was in his basement. He just didn't drop the clown aspect completely (he/it never does. The clown is always there or shinning through the other disguises).
>>
>>87599467
also, the sewer thing isn't just because he travels through them, but because Georgie had a fear of dark basements. That's why he doesn't attack everyone from down there like he did poor little Georgie.
>>
>>87599467
>Approach as friendly clown, kill as scary monster
He didn't do that for any of the others though you moron.
>>
>>87599243
I figured what happen is enough of the why. The book does a better job of explaining Georgie's feelings on what he sees. I feel that the "why" is legitimately because it's an easy pull for Pennywise. At the same time, Georgie's fear could just as easily be explained by his line of dialogue toward Pennywise when he makes his first attempt at getting his boat back.

>I'm not supposed to take stuff from strangers.
>I should get going now.

The movie seemed to play more with the idea of the human side of some of their fears. (Mike's vision of his parents burning as opposed to a giant bird) Namely, Bill's guilt over Georgie's death and Bev's (afaik) fear of blood from progression onto womanhood, abuse from her father, or both. Georige clearly perceives this as a stranger danger situation. Let alone a stranger danger situation in a dark hole in the ground. Which the previous scene set up when Georgie was afraid to go down in the basement for to get the wax. While It manifested as a fear of his. What keeps him around is Pennywise's offer of a balloon and the comforting smells of Cotton Candy, Hot Dogs, and Georgie's favorite snack. Popcorn.

This also happens in the book when Pennywise offers Ben a balloon and it floats off. Ben gets caught up in the aerodynamics of the balloon due to it floating against winds and when he snaps out of it. It has manifested in the form of a mummy.
>>
>>87599634
Actually. It appears to Mike when he's being jumped by the bullies, while snacking on the hand of Betty Ripsom, and waves at him. Not a completely friendly approach (being covered in blood and all), but also not as any form of a fear to Mike either.
>>
>>87599634
Young kids are scared easily and the fear is 'fresh' because they believe in the supernatural more. Belief is very important when it comes to IT's powers and the taste of his victims.
Teens need some stalking and creepy shit to get that side of them involved in the equation. Again, it's explained in the book a lot more fully.
>>
>>87600032
HOLY FUCK you are slow. None of that explains why it tried the honey approach with George and none of the others, stop talking shit and admit it makes no sense.
>>
>>87592793
Not a remake, book adaption.

My theater enjoyed Eddie just as much as Richie. Not sure why he's not getting as much love on the Internet.
