The special effects are pretty damn good. The kind that got the creator detained because officials thought it was a genuine snuff film.

...I mean, there's really not much to it other than that. There's a semblance of a plot, which is pretty inconsequential.

Although, beyond the imagery, there's a certain underlying disturbance that goes through you with the idea that anybody could be a serial killer and could randomly target you. They go to a tattoo shop run by two guys and chat them up all friendly like, and in the next scene the guys are in the basement about to be killed.

In the third film they break into a house on Christmas and bludgeon the father so he struggles in pain as they rape the mother in her robe. Their daughter comes down for her presents and is captured and choked to death while they open said presents gleefully. It's pretty fucked up given all the context.
