I didn't like it but I liked the scene where the blue man said he's not his farther but he's his dad, it hits close to home. Other than that I didn't really like the movie. The first one was mildly better, but if I have to watch a kids movie it would be something like Kung Fu Panda or WALL-E.

I liked it.
But I have expectations based on what I'm presented before I see a movie. This lived up to those expectations. Marvel and DC movies I expect cool fights. By the same token or by your standards, I don't like any of the Star Wars movies and I mean the originals. But they look cool and that's all I need them to do. I'm not going to watch them for intelligent writing or touching emotional moments. Unlike something like Paycheck, if you remember that. It was based on the Phillip K DIck story. And all the things that made that story cool to me got fucked up in the movie, I was hugely disappointed. MoS action was great but what I expected from a Superman movie wasn't there. Wonder Womans action was garbage but over all the movie was better than I thought it was going to be. If I judged movies on a pass fail bases with a system of points or a checklist of things done to a certain degree, I don't think GotGv2 would pass. But I wasn't expecting much and got what I was and a little more.

For all the praise that's happening on this board about Bojack Horseman, it's kind of funny seeing people hate on this movie, since it has the exact same themes. They're both about trying to move on from abusive childhoods and building new families. GOTG just has that buried in a shiny action movie.

I think the real failure of part 2 compared to the first one is evident in the opening musical sequences. The first one opens like a typical sci-fi adventure movie, only our protagonist begins jamming to some 70s pop as he dances around the ruins of a destroyed civilization. It's lighthearted without ever being stupid.

In Volume 2, fucking baby Groot is dancing around like a retard while an obviously dangerous battle is happening right beside him. It's fucking stupid, and trying to capture the first film but failing.

Well I finished the movie, it ended up getting a bit better towards the end but was still pretty lame overall. It was extremely shallow, I think that was my biggest issue with it. The characters has zero depth despite the filmmakers trying to force "emotional" shit. If they had written the characters as more human (which I know is ironic since all but one of them are aliens) it would have been a better movie. Also if the actors had acted better. I mean you could tell throughout the entire movie, no matter what the situation was, that none of them were even trying, with the exception of maybe Batista, but him "trying" is obviously not the greatest since he isn't even a real actor.
