Rewatched Quantum and Skyfall. Quantum was a lot better than I rememebered it. Skyfall's dumb kill-M plan was dumb but not the worst thing ever--especially considering it's a Bond movie--and the rest of the movie was pretty great. Itmight be the best shot Bond movie out of all of them.
Skyfall > Quantum = Casino > Spectre
QoS is badly misunderstood imho.

I used to think Casino Royale was my favorite. I gotta rewatch it. QoS had a lot of really good little moments in it. I remember liking Skyfall's ending a lot but thinking the rest was just pretty good, but I gotta say, the whole old vs. new theme running throughout, everyone bringing their A game, the cinematography, and that big handjob to the fans in the last scene hooked me this time around.
Why does everyone think Casino Royale was the best Craig movie? I thought Skyfall and Spectre were better desu.

Spectre and Skyfall both had god-tier cinematography

That scene in the opera is the best sequence of the whole lot. Having the bad guy and Bond stop and stare at each other for that brief moment is brilliant.

I never watched QoS because everyone said it was bad
should i watch it? now that the dust has settled..

Agreed. That was an amazing moment. That first little peak you get into Spectre at work was a lot better than most of the stuff we got of them fully in action in Spectre. I dunno, I gotta watch that one tomorrow to see if it's as disappointing as I remember.
>>87545581
I'll agree on the cinematography end. Especially on Spectre.

The problems are Olga whatsherface with too much trying to make her backstory relevant and a flimsy resolve to the Vesper stuff at the end all of a sudden.
>>87545335
Correct. Although Craig's stint is just as spotty as all of the other actors to portray the character.
>>87545801
Introducing Gemma like that and doing very little with her character was a missed opportunity. Olga was hardly a character at all and you gave less of a shit about her agenda than Lea Seydoux's in Spectre.

They all have their ups and downs. Bond movies have always been a series of action set pieces separated by template scenes (the one where the villain waxes maniacal about his plan, the one where Bond dicks a local whore, etc.). The Craig ones at least updated them so the stupider parts are more palatable.
I gotta go back into the old DVD set and start from Dr. No. Some of them are slogs, though.
Nothing will ever beat Casino Royale, ever. No Bond movie will ever surpass Casino Royale.
>>87545296
None. Real boring bond with no character or charisma.
>>87545635
The brief Macau part right after is excellent too. These two segments have the coolest atmosphere of any Craig Bond movies, and that's saying a lot.
>>87546529
Indeed.

Excluding Thunderball, Connery's early stuff is phenomenal. Stop at You Only Live Twice as his interest is gone after that one and the quality of the films featuring him decreases drastically as well.
OHMSS is one of the best Bond films period. It also has the best Bond girl.
Live and Let Die is a mixed bag and MWTGG is abysmal. The Spy Who Loved Me is the best example of a lighthearted Bond film and also one of the best in the series. From there the quality of his films fizzles out with each entry, although For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy are solid. Dalton's two movies suffer from problems behind the camera. The series desperately needed some fresh blood to inject new life and they are unable to overcome this problem. Brosnan got one good movie and it was his first. Everything else was embarrassing attempt to update the worst of Moore's movies. Craig got two good movies and two bad.

OHMSS is the most underrated of them all. Goldeneye, Casino Royale, and You Only Live Twice are probably my favorites. I think I'm one of the few people who has a soft spot for Diamonds Are Forever.
>>87545296
Golden Eye will always be my favourite

CR = 8/10
QS = 6/10
SF = 5/10
SP = 2/10
Casino Royale was the only good one.
Skyfall was just sort of okay and the other two are the worst Bond movies to exist, beating out Boringpussy and OHMSS
I think Quantum of Solace is the only time I've fallen asleep at a cinema.
GOOD:
Casino Royale
Skyfall
NOT GOOD:
Quantum Of Solace
Spectre
