Silence Of The Lambs is an almost perfect film. Every element is at the highest level you can achieve in cinema. Direction wise it's like the best thing Fincher and Hitchcock never made. The script is perfect. It's witty, emotional, a great character study stuffed inside a great thriller. Clever twists that the film doesn't need to rely on to carry itself. It's scary while not quite falling over the cliff into camp and horror (yet manages to brush up against them successfully). Top tier acting, Tak Fugimotos work is great as is Howard Shores. The production design also perfectly scoots between hollywood goifiness and realism.

It's rightfully considered among the greatest films ever made.

It does say immediately above that list that all these films are in extremely loose order and that it shouldn't really define much to anyone. A lot of the times he rates things on imdb just to influnece the overall rating in the direction he thinks it should go, not as an actual rating.

You'd have to be trying to get laid by a 20 year old film major to say that you actually enjoyed the Third Man, Psycho, It's a wonderful life, etc.
Actually sitting through films like these is honestly miserable 90% of the time and the other 10% is excitement in the beginning, telling yourself it can't possibly be bad because it's such a classic, and the inevitable and always predictable climax that I don't give two shits about anyway, "oh my god she went with Laszlo, this movie is fucking amazing"???? who fucking cares, i don't give two fucks about these characters, plot movement and effective character development were horribly flawed/non-existent in early film besides very few people who could do it well.
