Ed had his best roles between the mid-90's and early-2000s. I'm not saying that ship has sailed already but he's closer to 70 than 60. His definitely deserves an Oscar though, and not only for his impressive career.

I love the guy, but he seems to be one of those crazy intense method actors. Watch the bloopers of The Rock and cringe. Also in The Abyss he was so intense in the CPR scene that he actually hurt Mastrantonio, who walked out from the set and remaining parts were filmed with a dummy or from a POV shots.
