I always thought it sounded a little close to Enter Sandman, but I'm not that into either band.

It's too cheesy for me. Contrarians love to praise this movie because no one saw it even though it was for a good reason. Carpenter lost his touch way before he made this film.

it's not his best, and the cinematography is a little flat, the editing is too jump scare-y and when the cop shoots the axe murderer, instead of having muzzle flashes the entire screen just flashes white, but i would say it's still a good movie, better than the fog anyway

It's Hollywood way of pissing on Lovecraft for being a racist. Though there are other good adaptions like Dagon and Reanimators, not good but fun to watch. Like all of his adaptions.
