>>
>>87513655
I haven't watched it yet bt I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the BD. Most people were expecting something else and thus complanined.

I fucking love those eyebrows and Rihanna can literally do nothing wrong.
>>
>>87513655
I dunno, I kinda liked it
Visually more interesting than all the bland shit we got in scifi these last years
>>
Did you just get back from homecoming, op?
>>
the dude has those weird stoner eyes like the guy from that movie with chapelle that played 24/7 on comedy central
the girl has a face that makes me really want to turn her into a single mother or something because I kind of want to bang her but also don't want to be anywhere near her.
>>
>>87513655
I didn't know they made a mass effect movie.
>>
>>87513655
It has Dane Dehaan. it's fucking KINO
>>
>shitty lead actors
>mystery plot you don't give a fuck about that just sort of comes in and out of the film
>huge section in the middle where Valerian and Laureline get separated that has nothing to do with the story
>goal-less, stakes-less, tensionless, unexciting action scenes that go on for ridiculous amount of time
>awkward and/or dully predictable set ups and payoffs. JEEZ I WONDER WHAT THE MENACING LOOKING ROBOTS THAT STAND AROUND THE WHOLE MOVIE ARE GOING TO DO
>clumsy, long, wordy denouement for mystery plot

it peaked at the opening credits. after the intro to the pearls you were never given a reason to care.
>>
>>87513965
He FUCKING SUCKS in this... like really, REALLY bad.

Just some GOD AWFUL delivery.
>>
>>87513655
>it's good

Nope. As fan of comic I can say it failed to be good adaptation of comic. First obvious flaw is casting. You know it went to hell when Herbie Hancock and fucking Rihanna as supporting cast steal the show from supposed stars. Dane is good actor but in completely wrong role. Anorexia Brezhnev shouldn't be in any movie, even less in one with budget of 200 million. Plot is simply mess and still movie too long.
>>
>>87513965

now I know Dean posts here and you're probably him but he really was miscast as the womanizing rogue that inspired Han Solo, he needs to stick to outcast weirdos
>>
>>87513655
i like luc besson, but the actors are ugly goblins and it looks extremely derivitive of the about 9 million other sci fi movies that preceded it
>>
>>87515396
holy fuck, i didn't even know it was based off this based comic
>>
>>87513655

Because some idiot shills it because it starts his tranny waifu. Didn't matter since it bombed anyways
>>
>>87515542
Funny thing here is that lot of those over 9k other scifi movies are quite derivative from the comic. Starting with Star Wars. >>87515621
>holy fuck, i didn't even know it was based off this based comic
21 and half volumes graphic novels of it published from 1967 to 2011. Plus few short stories.
>>
>>87513655
>Why /tv/ hate this movie?
Why do you assume?
>>
>>87513655
unnecessarily big boobs on her suit
>>
>>87515881
wew, so it's sort of like what happened with John Carter.
>inspires decades of sci fi
>seems familiar and derivitive when adapted for modern audiences because every facet of it has been picked clean and digested by pop culture for decades
>>
>>87513655
What's with the bad photoshopping? If you look closely at Valerian's gun, you'll see it has been shifted. To make him look taller than Loreline?

But I liked to movie, went to see it twice even. I wish there was more spaceopera out there, and not just Star Wars and this movie.
>>
>>87516077
>wew, so it's sort of like what happened with John Carter.
Being derivative is nothing new in scifi. Illustrator and writer of Valerian had zero problems in their works being borrowed quite heavily by film industry. They too early on borrowed a lot from 2001 for example. One thing they pioneered on graphic publication is all kinds of ancient low tech futures and truely alien aliens, stuff like symbiotic species. Also aliens often utilized biotech and animals instead of shiny metal in some quite regular scifi stuff.

well there's quite a bit of space opera out there, like john carter to use my own example. especially in anime.

very little of it is good
>>
>>87516347
I'm mainly interested in movies and animation. Space Dandy was great, and even Rick & Morty has some small spaceopera vibes to it.

But still, the only ongoing stuff is just Star Wars.

>But I liked to movie, went to see it twice even. I wish there was more spaceopera out there, and not just Star Wars and this movie.

Film makers rarely get 200 million to spend on space opera, especially if it is something completely new and untried. Hollywood is all about big budget movies with even more massive marketing budgets. So they do stuff that is already known IP most of the time. That is purely result of death of medium budget cinema.

When it comes to where Valerian movie really succeeded is visuals, that is about only thing that went right. Script was almost as big mess as casting. Besson basically turned everything around from Ambassador of Shadows in the process inserting bit of white guilt into the story with 'muh 6 gorillion primitives. The primitives were in the comic ones that started building the central point station and had long time ago abandoned technology and dealing with aliens and shieet.

>>87516347
I think golden age of space opera in western film and tv was from late 80's to early 2000's. Effects technology was there to make new stuff with reasonable budgets, before Hollywood went full retard with manufactured blockbusters instead of blockbusters like original Star Wars just happening every once in a while.

Cara makes it look like a sci-fi porn.
>>
>>87516865
Porn stars usually don't have androgynous bodies. Sure her acting talent is on par with porn stars.
>>
>>87516865
Porn stars tend to be hot
>>
>>87513655
Because the suit makes it look like Cara has great boobs, and I know she doesn't.
>>
>>87513655
Saw the movie in the kino theatre and it was alright. Pretty mildly entertaining sci fi flick with some semi-good parts and action/story. But overall just lacked anything that stuck with you or was significant.
>>
Cara wasn't taking any obscenely large black penises so of course /tv/ hated it.
>>
>>87515621
>holy fuck, i didn't even know it was based off this based comic
Sure the movie Valerian couldnt come from the eponymous comic. Are you really dumb ?
>>
>>87513655
Her eyebrows scare me
>>
>>87515396
>fucking Rihanna as supporting cast steal the show from supposed stars
Rihanna was terrible. Jarjar 2.0 tier. Worst part of the movie even out doing Cara
>>
>>87513679
No, that's just Cara's effect on the picture as a whole.
>>
>>87515439
He was great in A Cure for Wellness, and he was more alpha male go-getter in that.

i didn't remember the name of the comic dummy!

Why does she look manlier than the tween next to her?
>>
>>87518972
His titty armor looks more like a bra with the more horizontal lines.
>>
>>87518515
Only way to make her sexy is perfect lighting, expert photographer and photoshop. Can't do that in movie.
