>>
>>87493031
Yes.
>>
Kingkino has fucking REKT capeshit. It's gonna end up making Deadpool/Logan level money and that's fucking unheard of for a horror film. Prepare for a massive wave of Kingkino.
>>
>>87493031
It almost certainly will have a sequel featuring the adult portion of the story which all the people that went for le creepy clown will probably hate
>>
>>87493031
Yeah, same kind of deal as the 90s miniseries. The book itself jumps between time periods, the main characters as kids and as adults, with interludes about Derry history.
The miniseries took all the kid stuff, put it in chronological order and made that the first part, then the adult stuff as part 2, the movies seem to be doing the same thing.
Can't really imagine it being filmed any other way without making it an incomprehensible mess.
>>

It could take the Cloud Atlas approach. The book tells half of each story, and then movies onto the next in the timeline, then tells the 2nd halves of each in reverse order.

The movie breaks them up all over the place using similar moments/themes to tie them together and jumped all over

I'm surprised they haven't revealed anything like this in the trailers. It's turning my opinion around.
>>
>>87493223
New dragon ball super.

Most of the time the animation is rather shit, but other times it's pretty damn good.
>>
>>87493183
The Dark Tower flopped because it was a steaming pile of shit that wasn't faithful to the novels. I'm pretty sure Its massive success will encourage Hollywood to make more King adaptations. I'm hoping we get a proper adaptation of The Stand.
>>
>>87493289
Sure, but in IT both timelines mirror each other, with Cloud Atlas approach you would be showing a scene with kids, then a very similar scene as adults 27 years later, maybe someone could have made that work, but i just can't see it working so well.

Fuck you if you wanted this to go down in flames.
>>
>>87493590
>How far they went with the implied implications tht Bev was molested by her father?

Bev wasn't molested by her father in the book, he probably wanted to but didn't. Her mother asked her if her father ever touched her, Bev was baffled as he touched her frequently, but in seemingly-appropriate ways - brushing a lock of hair behind her ear etc
>>

>>
>>87496710
Since when does a movies quality determine how much money it makes?
>>
>>87492542

Horror drops off hard. If it opens in the 80 mil range, the Exorcist's multi-decade reign as Horrorkino champ is ogre.

It only has to make 230 mil domestically to be the new King. Most films do triple their opening weekend...so it could do it easily.
>>
>>87493071

China.
>>
>>87493376
Even if it falls short it'll easily be the most money a Spiderman film's made since Raimi
>>
>>87493468

IT also has one of the largest marketing and release campaigns of all time. Bigger than Logan, for example.

The Dark Tower did not...because no one is dumb enough to throw good money after bad on an obvious piece of shit like that.
>>
>>87496742

A good and faithful IT adaptation would need to be ten hours long. Same with The Stand. These are the sorts of things Netflix is perfect for...not fucking Chuck Lorre sitcoms or other normie TV.
>>
>>87496643
I hope it kickstarts a new fad. I'm so tired of capeshit
>>
>>87496910
Also, it's worth noting that the Dark Tower series is a complicated and bizarre story, however it is adored by the fans, and the changes done to the series to make the movie butchered the story, leaving people who were unfamiliar with it baffled, and the fans outraged.
In a nutshell i honestly don't understand what the studio and director were planning to do, so it's no surprise it flopped.
>>
>>87493251

China only gives 25% of the box office money to foeign studios, so it really needs to do great there for it to make Sony good money, also it opens 2 months after the US release date, it has to affect how interested the chinese are.
>>
>>87496963
Not really, IT was more a case of a few lead characters(Bill, Bev, Ben) with the rest being side characters who functioned more as a group than individual

The Stand on the other hand is a massive ensemble work with multiple independent story lines going on at the same time, you'd need separate movies to cover the same time span just to give the heroes and villains proper coverage

>>87496689

People like stephen king's books and some of his movies. The film looks like a faithful adaptation of the book.

The story is purely psychological and people like that stuff.
>>
How retarded does OP feel right now on a scale of 1-10?
>>
>>87496689
Because even though it was objectively awful, the 90s miniseries was a cult classic because the story of It is a coming of age story that really resonates with people. Also the villain is interesting for a horror monster, since it can be different things and manifest in many different ways.

People are basically nostalgic for the book/miniseries and are hoping this new film is a better version of both.
>>
>>87497880
About 1,077,405 would be my guess.
>>
>>87497965
I don't know if I would say the old miniseries was objectively awful. There's no denying it has tons of flaws but parts of it are entertaining.
>>
>>87497965
While i agree with you about the miniseries,

>People are basically nostalgic for the book/miniseries and are hoping this new film is a better version of both.

I did see a whole bunch of younger people (18-25 maybe) in the cinema and i kind of doubt that many of them had read the book or even seen the miniseries, maybe they just came because of the hype by the people who had? who knows.
>>
>>87498099
>I did see a whole bunch of younger people (18-25 maybe)

>>
>>87498083
the kids part was somewhat decent but the adult portion was 100% shit. but it was still campy and charming in many ways. I actually loved the miniseries but I know it's pretty bad. Honestly I'm hoping that after this new version everyone just forgets about the old miniseries because it just doesn't hold up anymore.

This is a nonsense sentiment desu. The good parts will remain good and the bad parts will remain bad. IT always looked like shit, was mostly-poorly acted, and was pretty bad on all fronts in the adult half. Tim Curry gives a great performance and the kid half is a good adventure. None of these things have changed
