I love how unapologetically comic booky Raimi's movies were, and their hokey "fuck you 9/11 didn't happen I<3NY American flag in the background" New York City. Modern capeshit is too grounded. The Dark Knight (a cut above the rest, mind you) was case zero, even Batman Begins managed to keep things spicy with Himalayan ninja organizations and fear gas.
