How the FUCK did this get 24%?
Film critics don't know about warhammer 40k I guess
rotten tomatoes is for plebs dont even bother with teh critics
the audience rating on the right the better system
"movie critics" like to deconstruct shit and act high and mighty
they'll give Man of Steel 1% and Melancholia 100% because it's pretentious nonsense

The movie existed years before Rotten Tomatoes did; pre-2000's movies always have fucked up tomatometers because of it. Besides, Event Horizon has always been more of a cult movie anyway. "Space station takes a portal through hell" sadly isn't appealing to normies.tfw no director's cut blu ray with all of the extended violent sequences left on the cutting room flood reinserted into the film
it's very gruesome and also wes thomas anderson at the time was already considered a schlock director by critics

that original film apparently isn't very good quality anymore, it was in some storage area in like Egypt or something unprotected and degraded over time
It didn't have the hell orgy scene.
It isn't that great, and it was a box office bomb
Clumsy acting, awkward visual effects, bad writing, amateur cinematography, the list goes on
Because critics were not underage and haven seen Alien The Shiny Hellraiser 2001.
Don't get me wrong event horizon is fun and I've seen it a number of times but it's far from good.
scifi and horror are critics' least favorite genres.

These. Cult classics are often fun in part because they're just not very good movies. Event Horizon is overall silly in a lot of respects even while having a relatively interesting and original horror premise and set pieces. It's just a few beats shy of Jason X in terms of cinematography.
Any examples of how the cinematography is bad?
I barely noticed this..
Anyway it's a space thriller of course it will be silly..
