With film and tv, there HAS to be a pre-established fanbase for there to be enough money dumped into it.

Its why decent movies like John Wick automatically get terrible sequels despite higher budgets. Its why, instead of original movies about a team of funny actors exploring the paranormal, we get a shit movie with 'Ghostbusters' slapped on it.

Putting money into original ideas, new writers, promising directors, and unknown actors is all like gambling for the hollyjew.
