So what's the general consensus?
>>
>>87428305
No jokes
>>
comfy, quaint, forever rewatchable and has zero artistic merit
>>
>consensus
can't have one. it's one of the most polarizing movies ever.
>>
>>87428305
It's a modern classic.
>>
>>87428305
Fun movie that didn't take itself seriously.

So, in the top 1% of all comedy movies today.
>>
>>87428305
it's a good movie but we don't need threads every fucking day
i'm starting to think you're shilling this for some reason.
and if you're shilling I'll find you.
>>
>>87428364
>artistic merit
>kys

I saw it in an indie theater before it even had a major release by MTV.

It was funny back then. Completely unique and original sense of deadpan anti-humor and intentional awkwardness. Loved it.

It quickly sold its soul and was properly run into the ground, but it was fun while it lasted. The "Vote for Pedro" shirts getting popular made me cringe the hardest.

Who else here lives in Idaho?
>>
>>87428305
Rex Kwan Do is one of my favorite scenes of anything ever.
>>
>>87428305
I think it was:
>Sweet.
In many ways. It resonated with many people because it was fun, didn't get political, and just showed socially awkward people in light hearted situations.

Aside from being a good solid comedy, it is one of the few films that accurately capture the look and feel of the locale, in this case Idaho.

Dynamite is to Idaho as Taxi Driver is to 70s NYC.
>>
>>87428305
Didn't really like it, but the scene where the farmer shoots the cow in.front of the school bus made me laugh pretty hard
>>
>>87428305
Memes aside, this was an example of dishonest filmmaking.
>>
pretty much the worst video ever made
>>
>>87428558
What the fuck are you even talking about, dude?
>>
>>87429110
not him but it's obvious what he meant
allowed a lot of lazy will ferrel style comedies to become popular

Oh, for sure it was a shit movie my man 100%

Tryhard garbage. Anyone that says they like is someone you should avoid
>>
>>87429640
Jack Black is a D grade Adam Sandler. At least Adam made a few decent movies in the 90s.
>>
>>87429915
Jack black did good in this specific movie, considering how low budget it was great. Happy Gilmore and The wedding singer are adam Sandlers only good movies
>>
>>87428305
I enjoyed it but It came out when i was in middle school and this pre-internet age meme got old fast.

It was like meme spouting before meme spouting was a thing.

This.

I remember hearing everyone talk about it like it was this amazing movie. I finally got around to watching it and I did not understand the hype at all.
>>
>>87430699
Haha lol
>>
>>87430740
It was Big Bang theory before it came out. Pleb trash for retards
>>
>>87430772
Nope
It is the polar opposite of big bang theory.
BBT has quick jokes with a likeable, but unrealistic, nerdy cast.
Napoleon has genuinely odd, yet believable, characters and no jokes at all.
>>
>>87429496
>napoleon dynamite allowed shitty will ferrell comedies to flourish
one of the dumbest statements ever muttered on /tv/
>>
>>87430740
That's because you're a faggot and no one has ever liked you.

>>87429552

You need to go back

Fucking hilarious.
>quotable
>great scenes
>unique characters
>humor without resorting to gross out, cursing, or le edgy shit
>last great comedy film before the plague of smart phones and social media
>>
>>87428444
This. At least a patrician
>>
>>87429552
Yeah, you didn't understand the film. Bet you also don't like Coen's comedies. Adam Sandler, ben stiller and Will Ferrell are an entire diffrent genre of Napoleon Dynamite
>>
>>87429647
>Tryhard garbage
Exactly the opposite. It doesn't try hard because it doesn't even try. It's a movie that doesn't take itself seriously
>>
>>87428305
Kino
>>
Saw it in the Dollar Theater at the end of its first run, at which point it was considered a huge flop. Thought it was pretty underrated and had some great throwback jokes and general nostalgic silliness. Unfortunately, every other 20-something did, too, and filtered it down to their younger siblings, turning it into a cultural clusterfuck of hipstermania and incessant plebeian line-spouting at every turn.

First viewing 8/10, 1 year later Kill Me/10.

I know the genre you plebeian smegma hoop. It was shit. Not one part was funny, unique or interesting at all. Every catchphrase that's supposed to be absolutely amazing and hilarious is dog shit. My aboriginal friend likes it. Guess you're apart of his tribe.

"""American humour"""

I remember watching it as a kid (someone in elementary school) and not finding it funny at all

Napoleon Dynamite is the quintessential reddit movie.

>>
>>87436473
jesus fucking christ she's fat
>>
Reminder to the plebs that the funny part of it are not the quotes, scenes or the cursing. The funny part is seeing excentric, but still with a degree of realism and normality, characters in over-the-top situations that could actually happen by chance
>>
>>87428558
Youre confusing it with Newgroundd
>>
>>87436572
It's not funny. The very fact that the masses of retards ate up this movie proves how trash it is.

Bad. Movie.
>>
>>87436682
You're a fake poster. Fake. Poster.
>>
It is the only movie I can think of that was poisoned before I saw it. Everyone was quoting it so my inner hipster was determined not to like it before going in.
>>
>>87436814
I didn't mind the artistic cinematography. I don't like the story and apparent comedy. It was shot well which I can appreciate, I just hate when people repeat lines as if they're the pinnacle of comedy. Could've been so much better.
>>
>>87428305
a national treasure, i don't think any other film can replicate it's atmosphere
>>
I think you have to be mildly on the spectrum to truly get it
>>
>>87428305
Like little miss sunshine
Adorable but not laugh out loud funny
>>
Is it a meme to like this movie? I really dont get it, its not funny at all.
