this is hands down the funniest show ever. season 1 is the patrician choice, that crazy, loud, asshole king is something else. the humor is pretty fucking heavy and not for everyone. the other 3 seasons are much more easy-going, but batshit funny nevertheless. it's just season 1 has a special place in my heart. i fucking wish they'd do season 5, no matter the age.

Episode 3 had the anarchist, and mentions the American and French Revolutions
Episode 4 is set during the National Convention: the period of the Revolution where most deaths by the guillotine occured and Robespierre was in charge.

So chronology wise: 3, 4, 1, 6

5 could take place at any time before 1. As for 2: the poets that appeared in the story all existed at different times of the Enlightenment. Thus, 2 could be the start of the series, where Edmund begins his process of gettin revenge on the Prince. Conversely, 2 could be the end of the series where the Prince dreamt the other episodes, and Blackadder 3 at most will have a son or grandson called Ebeneezer who is merely rich but not in the way of royalty

The audience laughs in Blackadder 4 when Hugh Laurie is telling the story of how he joined up and that he is the only one left alive out of his friends, I always find it very sad. The whole series is full of sadness tbqh.

Blackadder as a 1950-60s civil servant dealing with bureaucracy and idiots promoted beyond their capabilities due to connections. To make it distinct from the past seasons where he sucked up to royalty he'll actually care for the people he's supposed to help, instead heaping scorn on his superiors, especially the fancy-school-and-unspellable-name people who gets to run the country just because of their parentage.
