There's a world where all subtelty wasn't thrown out of the window in S5 and the slow burn remained a slow burn, though it was pretty obvious in S1 from how much the mystery of his mother was referenced. If the intention was for Jon Snow to be smuggled in like this then I absolutely want to see how it develops in the books we'll never get, otherwise it was a pretty good idea for nothing.

If Daenrys is supposed to be the Hero's Journey character and the tropes literally fuck then GRRM is terribad at Hero's Journey. At her low point she's still fucking royalty.
