i cant take this movie seriously because two of the characters look identical. also there are so many characters with non-descript names its impossible to remember whose who.

Of course I have. I personally like Casino better, and I know both are better movies than The Departed, but The Departed gives me such perverse satisfaction. Like the scene where Frenchy talks about murdering his wife. Goodfellas doesn't have any really odd scenes like that. Casino has a couple.
