no concrete answers, but the show is mostly about the experiences of a new-age spiritualist with unresolved issued told in a very symbolic and surreal way. the ending just makes it obvious. or perhaps the show is only falsely interpreted that way and the makes wanted to confirm the misconception for an extra layer of meta-humor. however I think most of the divine stuff have to do with how xavier has through a shallow understanding of spiritualism made himself godlike in his own image, and the parallel xaviers were a way to represent the many ways he (and through him white spiritualists) could've ended up had it not been for nurtural traumas.

Rick and Morty has catchphrases and scenes that are meant to be memed to death, as well as a lot of "self awareness" because they know that's what their audience likes. This show doesn't give a shit about appealing to anyone.

They are both funny shows. They have nothing to do with one another. The humor is very different though and I want to say a little more subtle in XRA even though the show may not seem subtle at all

They get confused together, but they're not the same thing. Each one tackles Truth in different methods: Truth is imperceivable , Truth is intangible, and Truth doesn't exist.

Lots of hacks have been merging them together to make it seem insightful; but it's vapid and void, especially the more nihilistic ones. It would be nice to see some negation of these concepts in art; pretty much what is the anti-Rick & Morty (and not like schlock like Full House or MacGyver or something). But what is a compelling argument for Truth that has it perceivable, tangible, and meaningful.

A quick solution to this would be to write in a character that is superior to Rick and shits on his philosophy. A good example of this would Q from Star Trek. But this would require the writers of R&M to be smarter than how they write Rick, without handicapping the writing for him. Probably not going to happen since Rick is the author avatar of Dan Harmon. Make your antagonists as strong (if not stronger) as your protagonists; then you'll get a good story with some substance; else you'll get a Bugs Bunny cartoon...
