So, apart from Shaft and Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, what are the fundamental blaxploitation movies everybody should see at least once?
Coffy is good

Superfly

Super Fly if only for Mayfield's soundtrack.
Blacula is an essential blend of blaxpolitation and low budget horror, two staples of the grindhouse.
The Harder They Come is a slightly more realistic film though basically a Jamaican blaxpolitation.
Jackie Brown is the closest to a modern blaxpolitation that isn't just a parody (like Black Dynamite), maybe worth watching.
Otherwise, yeah:
>Shaft
>Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song
>Super Fly
>Blacula
>The Harder They Come
>Jackie Brown
are the only really good and relevant blaxploitation films. The "genre" was characterised by all the films being kind of shitty so it's not really worth wasting your time watching too many, a small selection of the best gives a good impression of what the culture produced.

Boss Nigger
Dolemite
Cooley High is legitimate good film about high school that avoids most major tropes and surprised me when I saw it.
Does Black Dynamite counts?
The Soul of Nigger Charlie
Roots
Across 110th Street

Don't forget the Legend of Nigger Charlie.

There's just something about Car Wash
Thanks people, you've made my next few nights much more bearable. I was honestly expecting this thread to devolve into race-bait shitflinging within two posts, I'm proud of you lot
