When did you realize books are better than Hollywood movies?
When I read Stephen King's It, I was completely amazed how perfect it was as a horror story and as a drama compared to that awful mini series. Hopefully the upcoming movie will fix the mini series' sins but I doubt it.
Possibly the worst Hollywood movie I've ever seen story wise is the Force Awakens because SO MUCH is cut out. The original cut was 180 mins apparently and JJ sliced so much out that the only way to enjoy it is by reading the novel.
Another example of the book being better is Game of Thrones. Think the first few seasons are great? WAIT UNTIL YOU READ THE BOOK!
Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings is a good example of a book to film done well and I enjoyed Kubrick's The Shining due to how weird it is that it gives me creeps.
Anyway my point: most Hollywood movies are so terribly paced and edited that they do not do justice with what books manage to do. Suicide Squad's novel is another example of the novel being better )but then the original David Ayer cut I am sure is a masterpiece compared to the shitty music video edit that we got).

Kubrick's Shining > King's Book
Don't even try to argue I like both in their own regards but the film is a far superior work
